the classroom is a vital part of education, helping them to gain a deeper and

experience. Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration can be

quite challenging, as it requires a practical approach to learning. The course

demands critical thinking, decision-making, and strong analytical skills to fully

grasp the concepts. However, with the effective management and passion for

knowledge at Lemery Colleges, the institution is committed to its mission of

"Transforming the youth into world-class professionals who are respond to the

ever-changing world of works." To support this goal, Lemery Colleges

collaborates with various schools, sectors, and companies, offering students

Malaysia, led by Dr. Durairaj Govindasamy, we have gained a better

understanding of the course we have chosen. This programme provides us with

a deeper insight, especially into business courses like Logistics and Supply

Chain Management, helping us grasp the concepts more effectively.

Ports World Malaysia provides valuable learning opportunities for those

interested in the logistics, shipping, and supply chain industries. Through

internships, work placements, training programs, and workshops, individuals

gain practical experience and insights into port operations, cargo management,

and global trade. The company also collaborates with educational institutions to

offer specialized courses, helping students understand the latest trends in the

maritime sector. Overall, learning at Ports World Malaysia offers both

theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing individuals for

careers in the global logistics industry.

The programme is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on

online lessons and quizzes, where students are encouraged to study

independently while completing quizzes. To progress to the next part of the

programme, students must finish the courseware. Part 1 begins with a pre-

course assessment to gauge students' knowledge in Strategic Supply Chain &

Operations Management. This includes reviewing course lecture notes,

completing quizzes, participating in learning activities, specialisation electives,

engaging with supplementary reading , contributing to forums, reports, and

watching related videos. Throughout this phase, we are guided by Ma'am Jiezel

Maala, who helps track our progress and provides support. The second part of

the programme involves a face-to-face seminar and learning workshop led by

Dr. Durairaj Govindasamy, with assistance from Ma'am Jiezel Maala. During

this phase, all students take part in group activities, where they enhance their

presentation skills on assigned topics. Finally, students are awarded the

Professional Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. And the

programme concludes with students achieving good results and gaining

valuable knowledge.

The Ports World Academy Malaysia (PWAM) offers a wealth of

information through lectures and videos, providing students with valuable

insights into key topics relevant to their field of study. While some students

initially face challenges due to difficulties in understanding or speaking English,

with the support of other student, they are able to overcome these obstacles.

Their determination and eagerness to learn drive them to successfully complete

all activities, showcasing both competence and pride in their accomplishments.

Additionally, By participating in hands-on activities, help students clarify

Gaining knowledge and understanding through hands-on experience in

help them grow both personally and professionally. Through self-discovery,

they develop the confidence to stand on their own, acquiring knowledge and

improving their ability to actively participate in various programs. This process

Students successfully complete online learning and quizzes assigned by

their instructors, which helps them develop comprehensive skills in analysis

and critical thinking as they tackle each question in the lectures. This process

encourages self-study, a skill many students have already honed, especially

during the pandemic when modules were given, and tasks had to be completed

COMPETENCIES GAINED AND LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Students participating in this program develop strong self-learning skills

as they take the initiative to study independently. Through this process, they

gain valuable knowledge and the confidence to successfully complete their

lectures and quizzes. While it is true that a key goal of the program is to earn a

certificate, which will be a valuable asset when applying for jobs in the future,

the true focus of the program goes beyond certification. The primary objective

is to equip students with the knowledge and competencies needed to succeed,

particularly for those who are eager and willing to learn. This program fosters a

deeper understanding of the subject matter and helps students build the skills

necessary for personal and professional growth.

In the first part of the program, students engage in self-study, where they

log into the courseware, read the lectures, and complete quizzes. Many

students, including myself, faced challenges in staying focused, particularly due

to distractions at home such as noise from neighbors and poor internet

connection. Despite these difficulties, we made a concerted effort to stay

focused and complete the lectures while minimizing distractions. This

experience helped students develop a strong sense of responsibility. The

continuous process of managing these challenges taught us the importance of

being accountable for our tasks. As a second-year student in Customs

Administration, I have learned the importance of time management, especially

as this courseware coincided with other tasks and the ongoing preliminary

exams. To successfully complete the first part of the program, all students must

be disciplined and manage their time wisely, ensuring they can finish their tasks

on time while balancing other responsibilities.

In the second part of the program, all students took part in group

activities, where we had the opportunity to share our opinions and ideas with

one another. Our instructor, Miss Jiezel Maala, guided us and informed us that

we had 45 minutes to discuss the topic assigned to our group. Throughout this

workshop, we not only learned how to interact and collaborate with other

students but also developed a sense of responsibility. This experience

increased our confidence, especially when it came to presenting our topics in

front of a large group of students. At the end of the program, we were awarded

certificates, which symbolized the knowledge and experience we had gained.

Reflecting on the experience, I realized that the program provided continuous

growth for every student, including myself, in various aspects of life. These

valuable competencies and lessons we acquired can be shared to inspire

others, as we now possess the tools to encourage and motivate those around

us.

IMPACT TO FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION

As a customs student, this courseware has had a significant impact on

my specialization, especially in teaching us logistics and supply chain

management, which helps us better understand the real-world applications of

our field of study. The Ports World Academy shares valuable knowledge about

the trading industry and its processes. The courseware explains how supply

chain management works and also covers operational management in the first

lecture, which is highly relevant to our chosen career paths. I understand that

not all of us intend to work for the Bureau of Customs, as some may pursue

careers in private companies. That’s why understanding operational

management is important, it helps us comprehend the internal flow of work

within a company, which is essential for those planning to work in the private

sector.

Through the help of all the lectures and activities we participated in, we

were able to gain real-world experiences that we may encounter in the future.

This program is not only beneficial for students in BS in Customs Administration

and BS in Business Administration but also for those in Tourism and Hospitality

Management. That’s why this program has equipped us with the knowledge,

skills, and understanding needed to excel in our respective specializations.

CONCLUSION

The knowledge and experiences we gained from this program have

been incredibly beneficial for our career development. It has allowed us to

acquire not only valuable knowledge but also essential skills and personal

growth. The time we invested in this program was certainly worthwhile, as it

provided meaningful learning experiences. From the orientation and online

sessions to the face-to-face activities, every aspect of the program proved to be

a valuable investment of both time and money. This achievement would not

have been possible without the support of Lemery Colleges, which collaborated

with Ports World Academy Malaysia to provide students with greater learning

opportunities. Additionally, the dedication and hard work of Dr. Durairaj

Govindasamy, who led the program, along with the full support of Ma’am Jiezel

Maala, made it much easier for students to do their best.

Everything that students learned from this program has had a significant

impact, not only in terms of knowledge but also in personal development. It has

taught them to see things from different perspectives, helping them step into

others' shoes. This program has helped students overcome fears and build
