November Encounter Series Summary

Day 1: The Arrest and Trial (Luke 22:54-71 & John 18:13-27)

crimes, but Pilate finds no fault in Him. The crowd, swayed by the religious leaders, demands Jesus'
crucifixion. Pilate, caught between his desire to please the crowd and his sense of justice, faces a
difficult decision.

Day 3: The Scourging and Mocking (DA 704-706, DA 709, 710, DA 711-713)

Jesus is subjected to a brutal scourging, leaving His body torn and bleeding. The soldiers mock Him,
placing a crown of thorns on His head and a purple robe on His shoulders. Despite the physical and
emotional pain, Jesus remains silent, enduring the suffering for the sake of humanity.

Day 4: The Crucifixion (DA 725, 726, DA 727-729, DA 730, 731, DA 732, 733, DA 734, 735)

Jesus carries His cross to Calvary, where He is crucified between two thieves. As He hangs on the
cross, He endures excruciating pain and suffering. Yet, He prays for His enemies and expresses
forgiveness. Jesus' sacrifice demonstrates the depths of His love and the ultimate price He paid for
our salvation.

Day 5: The Resurrection (DA 744, 745, DA 746, 749, DA 750-752, DA 753, 754)

On the third day, Jesus rises from the dead, conquering sin and death. He appears to His disciples,
offering them hope and assurance of eternal life. Jesus' resurrection is the ultimate victory over evil,
and it provides believers with the promise of a glorious future.

Day 6: The Last Supper (Matthew 26:1-5, Mark 14:1, 2, Luke 22:1-6, & DA 716)

Jesus gathers His disciples for the Passover meal, a sacred Jewish tradition. During this meal, He
institutes the Lord's Supper, a new covenant symbolized by bread and wine. Jesus washes the feet of
His disciples, demonstrating humility and selfless service. He also foretells His betrayal by Judas, a
shocking revelation that foreshadows the events to come.

Day 7: Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46, Mark 14:32-42, Luke 22:39-46, & DA 717-719)

Jesus takes His closest disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. Overwhelmed with sorrow and
anticipation of the suffering ahead, He asks His disciples to stay awake and pray with Him. However,
they fall asleep, leaving Jesus alone to face the weight of His impending crucifixion.

Day 8: The Betrayal and Arrest (Matthew 26:47-56, Mark 14:43-52, Luke 22:47-53, & John 18:2-12)
Judas, guided by the religious leaders, betrays Jesus with a kiss. The soldiers arrest Jesus, but He
calmly submits to their authority. His disciples, fearing for their lives, scatter. Jesus is taken to the
high priest's house, where He is subjected to a mock trial.

Day 9: The Trials (Matthew 26:57-68, Mark 14:53-65, Luke 22:54-62, & John 18:13-24)

Jesus is brought before the Jewish religious leaders, who falsely accuse Him of blasphemy. They mock
Him, spit on Him, and strike Him. Despite the mistreatment, Jesus remains silent, demonstrating His
divine patience and forgiveness.

Day 10: The Condemnation (Matthew 27:11-26, Mark 15:1-15, Luke 23:1-25, & John 18:28-40)

Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor. The Jewish leaders pressure Pilate to
condemn Jesus to death. Pilate, recognizing Jesus' innocence, tries to release Him, but the crowd,
incited by the religious leaders, demands His crucifixion. Pilate, fearing a riot, reluctantly gives in to
the demands of the people.

Day 11: The Scourging (Matthew 27:26-30, Mark 15:15-19, John 19:1-3)

Before the crucifixion, Jesus is subjected to a brutal scourging. Roman soldiers beat Him with whips,
tearing His flesh and causing immense pain. This act of cruelty was a common punishment for
criminals, but it was especially severe in Jesus' case.

Day 12: The Crowning with Thorns (Matthew 27:27-31, Mark 15:16-20, John 19:2-3)

After the scourging, the Roman soldiers mock Jesus by placing a crown of thorns on His head and a
purple robe on His shoulders. They kneel before Him and hail Him as "King of the Jews." This act of
humiliation and mockery further intensifies Jesus' suffering.

Day 13: The Carrying of the Cross (Matthew 27:31-32, Mark 15:20-21, Luke 23:26-27, John 19:16-
17)

Jesus is forced to carry His own cross to the place of crucifixion. Weakened by the scourging and the
weight of the cross, He struggles to carry the heavy burden. Simon of Cyrene, a passerby, is
compelled to help Jesus carry the cross.

Day 14: The Crucifixion (Matthew 27:33-54, Mark 15:22-41, Luke 23:27-49, John 19:18-37)

Jesus is crucified between two thieves. As He hangs on the cross, He endures excruciating pain and
suffering. He prays for His enemies, forgives those who have wronged Him, and commits His spirit to
His Father. His death on the cross is the ultimate act of love and sacrifice.

Day 15: The Burial (Matthew 27:57-60, Mark 15:42-47, Luke 23:50-56, John 19:38-42)

After Jesus dies on the cross, Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy member of the Sanhedrin, asks Pilate
for permission to bury Jesus. Joseph removes Jesus' body from the cross and wraps it in linen cloth.
He places the body in a new tomb, and a large stone is rolled across the entrance.

Day 16: The Sabbath (Matthew 27:62-66, Mark 15:42-47, Luke 23:55-56)

The Sabbath, a day of rest and worship for the Jewish people, falls on the day after Jesus' crucifixion.
The chief priests and Pharisees, fearing that Jesus' disciples might steal His body and claim that He
has risen from the dead, request a guard to be placed at the tomb.

Day 17: The Resurrection (Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-11, Luke 24:1-12, John 20:1-18)
On the third day after His crucifixion, Jesus rises from the dead. An angel rolls away the stone from
the tomb, and the women who come to anoint Jesus' body find the tomb empty. The angel tells
them that Jesus has risen, just as He said He would. The news of the resurrection spreads quickly
among the disciples, bringing them great joy and hope.

Day 18: Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (John 20:11-18)

Mary Magdalene, one of Jesus' closest followers, goes to the tomb early in the morning. She weeps
outside the tomb, mourning the loss of her beloved teacher. Jesus appears to her, but she does not
recognize Him at first. He calls her name, and she immediately recognizes Him. Mary Magdalene
becomes the first person to see the risen Jesus.

Day 19: Jesus Appears to the Disciples (John 20:19-23)

Later that same day, Jesus appears to His disciples, who are gathered behind locked doors. He shows
them the wounds in His hands and feet, and He breathes on them, imparting the Holy Spirit. He
commissions them to go out and make disciples of all nations.

Day 20: Jesus Appears to Thomas (John 20:24-29)

Thomas, one of the twelve disciples, was not present when Jesus first appeared to the others. He
doubts the news of the resurrection until he sees Jesus for himself. Jesus appears to Thomas and
invites him to touch His wounds. Thomas confesses his faith, saying, "My Lord and my God!"

Day 21: Jesus Appears to the Disciples at the Sea of Galilee (John 21:1-14)

Several disciples, including Peter, go fishing on the Sea of Galilee. After a night of fruitless fishing,
Jesus appears to them on the shore and instructs them to cast their nets on the right side of the
boat. They catch a large number of fish. Jesus prepares breakfast for them and has a conversation
with Peter, restoring him to his ministry.

Day 22: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20, Mark 16:15-20, Luke 24:44-53, John 20:21-23)

Jesus appears to His disciples on a mountain in Galilee and gives them the Great Commission. He
commands them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded. He assures
them that He will be with them always, to the very end of the age.

Day 23: Jesus Ascends to Heaven (Acts 1:1-11)

Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus leads His disciples to the Mount of Olives. He blesses them
and then ascends to heaven, while the disciples watch in amazement. As He ascends, a cloud
receives Him from their sight. Two angels appear and tell the disciples that Jesus will return in the
same way as He ascended.

Beyond these specific appearances, the Bible records other encounters between the risen Jesus
and His followers, which continue to inspire and strengthen believers today.

Day 24: The Crucifixion (Luke 23:26-56, John 19:16-42)

Jesus is crucified between two thieves. He endures immense physical and emotional suffering.
Despite the pain, He prays for His enemies, forgives those who have wronged Him, and demonstrates
unwavering love and compassion. His death on the cross is the ultimate act of sacrifice, redeeming
humanity from sin and death.
