The Diverge STR frames use a 68 mm standard BSA threaded design. Grease the threads.
Install and torque according to the bottom bracket manufacturer’s instructions. 6
Before installing the bottom bracket and crank, make sure all housings and wires are routed
through the frame.
CAUTION: Do not face the bottom bracket shell! This can prevent proper
installation of the crank. Your Specialized frame does not require any bottom
bracket shell pre-installation preparation, as all surfaces have been precisely
machined to specific tolerances at the factory for proper interface with a
compatible crankset. Please refer to the manufacturer instructions for crank
and bottom bracket installation.
CAUTION: Always use a bottom bracket equipped with a sleeve between the
two cups. Running a bottom bracket without the sleeve can result in housings
and/or wires contacting the bottom bracket spindle, which can result in wear.
FIG. 6
Use a 6 mm L-shaped hex key to guide the bulkhead through the SWAT door opening
into the down tube. Align the bulkhead holes with the down tube holes, then install the
mounting bracket.
Apply grease to the mounting bracket bolt. Using a torque wrench and a 3 mm hex bit,
torque the bolt to 0.8 Nm / 7 in-lbf or until it’s finger tight.
The mounting bracket has two additional holes that can be used to mount a water bottle
cage.
Remove the adhesive backing on the down tube protector, then apply the down tube
protector to the down tube using the mounting bracket as a guide.
13
5 .10. RECOMME NDE D T I RE PRESSURES
The tires must be inflated and periodically checked and re-inflated using a pump with an
accurate pressure gauge.
Pump the tires up to your desired pressure. Refer to the tires’ sidewall for pressure range. Check
your wheel manual or decal on the rim itself to see if your wheels have a maximum pressure limit.
Do not exceed it.
14
6. SHIFTING & CABLE ROUTING
Your Diverge STR comes standard with a wireless (eTap) shifting system. For more information on this system, see the manufacturer’s instructions.
When using a fully wireless shifter, insert a cable guide plug into the port to seal against dirt and debris (S216500003).
Following are instructions on how to set up mechanical and wired shifting systems.
6.1. S H I F T I NG - MECHAN I C AL SYSTE M
When using a mechanical rear derailleur, running a mechanical dropper post cable in tandem will not be possible. The frame allows only two housings/hoses to be run
internally in the down tube.
Refer to the manufacturers’ manuals supplied with your bicycle for more information on assembly and adjustments.
The Diverge STR uses a 1x front chainring and does not support a front derailleur.
FIG. 1
ROUTE THE REAR DERAILLEUR HOUSING
Starting at the chainstay ICR port behind the dropout, guide the housing through the chainstay to the bottom bracket.
Guide the housing into the ICR channel in the downtube with your fingers. Push the cable upward until it exits the ICR port near the headtube.
Install the derailleur onto the hanger according to the component manufacturer’s instructions.

Route a 700 mm wire starting from the chainstay port and out the bottom bracket hole on the drive side.
Place a rear shift cable grommet over the wire and push it into the ICR port (S1599000054).
There are two ways to mount the dropper post. When running a standard seatpost on a bicycle equipped with Shimano Di2, the battery can be installed inside the seatpost using a Di2 battery
sleeve (S209900014) or attached to the bulkhead.
FOR SEATPOST INSTALLATION (A)
• Route a 1000 mm wire down from the top of the frame post and out the bottom bracket hole on the drive side.
• Install the battery and sleeve in the seatpost. Using the Di2 connector tool, insert the wire into the battery connector, and install the seatpost as described in section 7 of this manual.
FOR BULKHEAD INSTALLATION (B)
• With the bulkhead removed from the frame, slide the battery plug through the bulkhead hole, then zip-tie the battery to the bulkhead. Plug a 300 mm wire into the battery, then install the
bulkhead in the down tube (section 5.9) with the wire exiting out the bottom bracket hole on the drive side.
Plug the three wires into a Junction B box, then insert the Junction B box and the wires into the down tube above the bottom bracket shell.
CAUTION: SWAT bags may not fit properly in the down tube when using a dropper post and could damage the frame if they’re forced into place.

Your Diverge STR comes with two frameposts that provide four stiffness options based on the
type of ride you want (stiffer or softer). There are several variables to consider when making
A your selection. Rider weight and personal preference have the largest impact on framepost
selection, while frame size, saddle height and setback, and riding style have smaller impacts.
While most riders will be satisfied by one of the four stiffness options included with each
bicycle, additional options are available for riders outside of the included range and for those
who want to fine tune the stiffness within the included range. The following tables will help you

tailor your ride.
The first table shows the optimal weight range and two stiffness settings for each framepost.
The second table shows framepost compatibility for each frame size. Frameposts included
with each frame size are noted. Compatible frameposts are available online or through your

Next, turn the damper rebound adjustment counterclockwise 1.5-2 revolutions.
Adjust the rebound by turning it clockwise or counterclockwise a quarter turn at a time until
you find a point that allows good movement during events.
Adjust the rebound to the point where it doesn’t feel too bouncy but also
doesn’t rebound so slowly that it’s still traveling while leading into another
event.
More rebound damping is needed for a stiffer framepost when the saddle FIG. 12

Make sure all parts (boot, framepost, etc.) are thoroughly cleaned before
reinstalling.
WARNING! Do not ride your Diverge STR without all components of the STR
system properly installed and connected as outlined in this manual, including
the damper and damper tendon as well as the framepost boot and boot bolt.
Failure to do so could result in structural damage to the framepost and could
cause you to lose control and fall.

Manual. Do not expose the bicycle to prolonged direct sunlight or excessive heat, such as inside a
car parked in the sun or near a heat source such as a radiator.
Great care should be taken to not damage the frame material. Damage may result in a loss

cracks, no matter how small, or any damage to the bicycle, immediately stop riding the
bicycle and have it inspected by your Authorized Specialized Retailer.
Lifespan and the type and frequency of maintenance depends on many factors, such
as use, rider weight, riding conditions, and/or impacts. Components may be subject to
increased wear at different rates, depending on the component. Drivetrain and brake
components are especially subject to wear. Periodically have your Authorized Specialized
Retailer inspect your bicycle and components for wear.
Exposure to harsh elements, especially salty air (such as riding near the ocean or in the winter),
can result in galvanic corrosion of components such as the crank spindle and bolts, which
can accelerate wear and shorten the lifespan. Dirt can also accelerate wear of surfaces and
bearings. The surfaces of the bicycle should be cleaned before each ride. The bicycle should
also be maintained regularly by an Authorized Specialized Retailer, which means it should be
cleaned, lubricated, and (partially) disassembled and inspected for signs of corrosion and/
or cracks. If you notice any signs of corrosion or cracking on the frame or any component, the
affected item must be replaced.
