Community Based Activity

First Aid

Introduction:

Generally, first aid refers to providing military relief to an accident victim by providing some
basic but necessary quick treatment and services before seeing a doctor. The English
synonym for first aid is " FIRST AID ".

First aid is a part of the treatment and the first step. The first aid was created by Dr. Frederick
Admark. He was a martial therapist. Need.

First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or ill person before professional medical
help arrives. It aims to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, and promote
recovery. First aid includes simple procedures such as stopping bleeding, performing CPR,
treating burns, and handling fractures.

It is an essential skill that can be learned by anyone and is often the first response in
emergencies like accidents, burns, cuts, drowning, or sudden illness. Proper first aid
knowledge can save lives and minimize complications before professional medical
assistance is available.

1. FIRST AID's Meaning - The meaning of the term FIRST AID is analyzed

F - FAST (fast or quick)


I - INVESTIGATION (Quick accidents of the wound to be examined)
R-RELIEF (Military relief to the injured)
S-SYMPTOM (Determining Injury Symptoms)
T-TREATMENT (signs of injury to the animal)
A-ARRANGE (arranging treatment)
I- IMMEDIATE (very quickly to the beginning of treatment)
D-DISPOSAL (injured persons to clinics to negotiate)

2. Necessary steps for first aid -

I. The person doing the first aid may not be a doctor. So the necessary treatment can or will
be completed very quickly.
II. It is important that the person providing the first aid has the present intelligence.
III. The person providing first aid needs to have a slow and steady attitude.
IV. The person in the accident must be kept mentally healthy.
V. Depending on the symptoms of the injury, as much treatment as needed is recommended.
VI. Care should be taken to ensure that the original treatment of the injured person is not
wasted or neglected in any way.
VII. Arrangements should be made to take the injured person to the hospital as soon as
possible.

3. FIRST AID BOX -

At home or at school, the box in which the necessary medicines and other items are usually
kept in our hands keeping in mind the accident, is called First Aid Box.

This box usually contains cotton, gauze, roller, bandage, tourniquet, knife, scissors, blade,
leukoplast, dettol, benzene, iodine, rectified spirit, vix, iodex, potassium permanganate
lotion, mercurochloron, mercuricol lotion, Rope, clean cloth, etc. The first aid box should
have a red plus sign or red cross on the top and side.

4. Materials required for first aid and its use -

• Cotton usually needed to clean wounds and for dressings, bandages.


• Gauge - It is needed to cover the wound. It is square in shape.
• Roller Bandage - Used to bandage the wound.
• Bandage It is used to protect the wound from dust and sand.
• Tourniquet - This device is used to stop bleeding or to stop the flow of blood on the
site of a snake bite.
• Knives, scissors and blades - these are used to cut gauze, bandages, ropes, etc.
• Leucoplasts - Leukoplasts are used to properly bandage cotton, gauze, or bandages
on small wounds.
• Dettol/ savlon/Suthal - Any one these materials is usually used with cotton or gauze to
clean cuts or bruises.

• Benzene and iodine - It is used in cuts.
• Burnell - Burnell is usually applied to relieve pain when a part of the body is burned.
• Potassium Permanganate Lotion / Mercurychrome Lotion / Rectified Spirits -These
ingredients make it possible to prevent germs in the wound.
• Soap- A small amount of Hummer soap is used to clean the side of the wound.
• Rope Used in the treatment of snake bites.

5. General introduction of some first aid -

1. General Cut / General Hmt - A lot of times we fall down and get cut or thrown away as a
result of our own negligence. That place is called wound area. Dust and sand can enter and
rot.

Types of courage -

Usually we see a few types -

• Inside - Blades, knives, scissors, glass, etc.


• Conscious - Stumbling or bruising.
• Laserized - Scratch or bite wounds of animals or humans.
• Nancharad - an injury caused by an iron bar or nail.

Remedy -

1. First you have to hold the wound and stop the bleeding.
2. Then clean the area by soaking cotton or gauze in Dettol / Suthal / Savlon or Rectified
Spirit.
3. If different types of antiseptic creams or lotions are then applied to the affected area to
prevent infection.
4. Then if the bleeding of the wound does not stop then bandage should be applied by
pressing the wound with gauze or cotton.
5. Even if the problem is not solved, it is necessary to make arrangements for transfer to the
hospital as soon as possible.

In rural areas, wounds are often washed with clean water and marigold juice or durbar juice
is applied to the wound to stop the bleeding.

2. Bleeding- If any part of the body is deeply cut or the blood vessels (blood vessels, veins,
arteries) are disconnected, then blood flows rapidly through the wound. It is necessary to
pay attention to stop this bleeding very quickly.

Types of bleeding -

• When the blood reticulum of the body is cut, the blood drips.
• When the veins of the body are cut, reddish black blood gushes out.
• When the artery is cut, bright red blood comes out with a splash.

Remedy -

1. First you have to press the place with your finger for a while, this is called daily pressure.
2. If the bleeding does not stop under direct pressure, then indirect pressure should be
applied at the pressure point keeping the limb still.
3. If the bleeding does not stop under direct or indirect pressure, a tourniquet may be placed
over the wound site.
4. The wound should be well dressed using antiseptic cream or lotion to prevent bacterial
infections.
5. In case of excessive bleeding, the patient should be taken to the hospital immediately
and arrangements should be made to give antidote.
6. Ice should be used in place of bleeding.

3. Sprain - Basically, due to our own negligence, when any part of the body is twisted instead
of performing normally, there is pain in that place. Usually the fingers or toes, wrists,
ankles, etc. are sprained.

Symptoms -

• Pain will be felt at the site of injury.


• The joints will swell.
• The injured ground will fade and take on a blue or red shape.
• If you move normally, you will feel pain.

Remedy-

1. Ice or wet cloths or rags should be applied or wrapped around the injured area.
2. Applying lime - haldi heat on the injured area relieves the pain.
3. Use pain relieving spray or ointment near the hands.
4. Special care must be taken to ensure that the sprained area gets as much rest as possible.
5. If the pain does not subside with the help of these, the doctor concerned should be
consulted.

4. Bone removal or displacement - If the bones are removed or broken in any part of the body
due to carelessness, there is severe pain and the place becomes swollen immediately.

Remedy -

• The wounded must be given some ice for military force.


• Crepe bandages should be tied and transferred to the hospital as soon as possible so
that the area is completely covered.

5. Unconscious - Military unconsciousness is the result of a person's physical or mental


trauma, or any other internal or external cause. In general, this is what we call
unconsciousness.

Report -

1. The patient should be kept lying flat on the open space as much as possible.
2. Her clothes should be loosened as much as possible.
3. The patient should be given a splash of cold water in the eyes.
4. Unnecessary crowding should not be done around the patient.
5. Arrangements should be made to take the patient to the hospital immediately.

6. Electric Shock - If a person accidentally touches his body directly due to his own
negligence or any other reason, then we call it shock.

Remedy -

1. The first duty of any other person present at the scene is to disconnect the electricity.
2. If for any reason the power connection cannot be disconnected, the person has to be
disconnected from the grip of electricity by hitting with a big and dry stick.

3. If there is any bandage on the body of the injured person, it should be loosened as much
as possible.
4. Then the infected person should be given hot tea, coffee, milk etc.
5. After that you have to go to the hospital and arrange for quick service of the injured
person.

7. Snake bites - Snake bites are caused by being in front of a snake unknowingly or
knowingly.

Symptoms -

Snake bites are basically of two types.

• If a venomous snake bites, two scars are found at intervals of two centimetres.
• Again, if a non-venomous snake bites, multiple bruises can be seen on the bite site.

Remedy -

1. Three bindings should be made at a distance of at least one hand towards the top of the
wound site of the snake bite patient.
2. Then the bottom of the bandage should be cut with a new sharp blade or knife somewhere.
3. If the venom is bitten by a non-venomous snake, the area may be thoroughly washed with
Dettol water or potassium permanganate shell water, and the markurochrome may be
applied to the wound.
4. If bitten by a poisonous snake, the tourniquet should be tied and transferred to the health
center.
5. In the intervening period of taking to the health center, if necessary, the binding should
be loosened or the place of binding should be changed.
6. The most important patient should never be allowed to sleep and he must be given
courage.

8. Burn in the fire - Due to our negligence, clothes often catch fire and body parts get burnt
or scorched.

Remedy -

1. First you have to make arrangements to put out the fire without rushing or running.

2. The fire should be quickly extinguished by pressing a thick blanket or coating on the body
or rolling it on the ground.
3. You have to take off your clothes carefully. If any part of the clothes is stuck on the body,
it should be removed slowly without forcing.
4. If there is a blister on the skin, it can never be given away.
5. In case of slight burns, lime water or coconut oil or potatoes juice can be applied.
6. If the burn is a little more, it is beneficial to apply Bernal or Spirit.
7. The burn site should not be inflated, so the area should be covered with a light cloth or
light bandage.
8. Then the patient should be taken to the doctor for quick recovery.

9. Other - Blisters on a hot fan of hot water, oil or rice - Blisters usually appear on a person
if a hot fan of hot water, oil or rice falls on any part of the body.

• Acid burns - If a person inadvertently falls into acid and burns, baking soda should be
dissolved in water. But if a person consumes acid of his choice, he should be taken
to the nearest hospital immediately.
• Hummer Burns - Humor burns on a person's body are usually applied to the place of
vinegar or lemon juice. It feels quite comfortable.

10. Dipped in water - The first aid that is usually given to a person who is drowning.

Remedy -

1. First the person has to get the water out of the abdomen, in this case the head can be
hung down by holding the legs or the head and the hands can be hung on one side of the
legs and the water comes out.
2. If you are not able to complete the above two methods, the patient will lie down on his
back, press the pillow under the abdomen and press down, water will come out of the mouth.
3. When water comes out of the abdomen, the patient has to make arrangements for artificial
respiration.
4. He should take off his wet clothes and put on dry clothes and cover his whole body with
a blanket.
5. Then the patient has to be transferred to the nearest health center.

11. If something catches your eye - The eyes are an invaluable resource of human beings.
For various reasons, the eyes may get involved in accidents, dust and sand may fall on the
eyes.

Report -

1. You can never rub your eyes.


2. You have to give a splash of water in your eyes.
3. The patient should sit facing the light and gently open the two eyelids.
4. If any chemical gets in the eyes, it should be washed with milk.
5. Arrangements should be made to send him to the doctor or hospital immediately.

12. If something goes to the ear - Insects can enter a person's or a person's ear without
their knowledge.

Remedy-

1. Initially, when insects enter the ear, a small amount of mustard oil or olive oil is poured
and the insects die and come out.
2. Moreover, if anything like marble enters, it is necessary to take immediate action to send
it to the doctor or hospital without any movement.

6. Purpose of primary treatment at school level -

• Awaken the sense of awareness among the students.


• To impart knowledge about first aid among the students.
• Develop the concept of intelligence, courage and resilience among the students.

7. Utility of first aid at school level -

• First aid can be needed by any person at any time. Therefore, it is necessary to make
students aware of this issue.
• Primary school is considered an integral part of school-related activities.
• Accidents can happen anywhere in the school or at home. In that case it is important
to have knowledge of first aid.
• The friend of danger is the real friend. This social work is manifested among the
students.

• Consciousness and values are awakened in the students through the overall action.
• Students can be seen mastering the use of various medical instruments and
medicines.
• Empathy and equality are expressed among the students through the care of the
injured person or the patient.
• Helps to chain students.
• If students are able to complete the task of first aid with a quick but calm brain and
without any hesitation, then their qualities like intelligence, courage, resilience etc.
are developed.
• It is through this that the disciplined learnt student gets the necessary to keep his
head cool in times of danger.

Conclusion:

In the end, it can be said that many students come to a school to read and write. Every day
from the beginning to the end of the school, they read, play and eat together. Accidents can
happen anywhere in the school or at home. Not only for the injury of the students, they
should be there to gain real knowledge. So that every student in any danger can provide
temporary relief to the injured person through first aid.

Gardening

Introduction:

Education is the main tool of human civilization. However, that education must be
successful. Successful teachers depend on teachers, students, curriculum and classroom
environment. There are also toilets, playgrounds, libraries, school premises, etc. It is
closely related to education. A beautiful garden with the right accompaniment of a school,
in many cases, makes the students happy, makes the school environment beautiful, strong,
rich and smooth.

A garden is a piece of land which is closely associated with the production of flowers,
grasses, plants, herbs and other plant related activities.

The contribution of garden preparation is undeniable nowadays to get the loving blessings
of the garden and to satisfy the aesthetic needs.

I. Garden Preparation Objectives -

There are specific goals and objectives behind the preparation of school gardens.-

1. Gardens are prepared to make the school environment beautiful and attractive.
2. Gardens are prepared to prevent environmental pollution and to maintain the balance of
the environment.
3. Gardens are prepared to develop creativity and aesthetics among the students.
4. Creating the mentality of working together by making the school environment beautiful
and colorful.
5. The team work of the students reveals different qualities like mutual cooperation, trust
and giving importance to others.

III. Selection of garden preparation site -

There must be some features of a selected place for school garden preparation. -

1. A specific and suitable place has to be selected for the construction of garden in the
school.
2. The school should have enough open space for gardening.
3. In the garden so that good sunlight and wind can reach there.
4. The garden should be protected by a fence so that no damage is done to the trees.
5. There must be suitable soil for garden construction. Trees are good in such loamy soils.
6. Adequate irrigation and drainage system is required in the selected area for gardening.

VI. Gardening Preparation Stage -

A well-planned arrangement has to be made for the construction of the garden. In this case,
there are different stages of preparation. These are -

Stage - 1: Students must first select a specific location for gardening.

Stage-2: Students have to start the work of preparing the garden in collaboration with the
teachers in the school with the permission of the headmaster / headmistress.

Stage - 3: The head teacher / headmistress divides the students of the school into several
groups and conducts the work.

Stage - 4: The headmaster / headmistress has to participate in the work of preparing the
garden as directed by the team leader of different groups.

Stage - 5: The soil has to be chopped with a spade by observing the place selected by the
members of each group and the weeds have to be cleared and weeded in a certain place by
weeding.

Stage - 6: Then before planting seedlings and seeds, the soil should be turned into suitable
soil for planting with water and fertilizer.

Stage - 7: Before planting trees, a fence should be provided around the garden so that no
one can enter the garden and destroy the trees.

Stage - 8: After planting the trees should be watered and pesticides should be sprayed every
few days.

VII. Garden Care's -

The things that need to be done after planting a tree in the garden. These are called care.

XIII. Future Value Of Gardening-

Any action has a future response. Its importance cannot be denied in any way. Similarly,
there is a future for garden preparation. The value of this garden preparation is -

1. Social Value - Man is a social creature. Therefore, the responsibility of good and evil of
the society is on man. The present man is as important part of the society as the protest and
the important part of the society is also an important part of the society.

2. Economic value - The economic importance of gardening is not only in the social value of
the people but also in the economic value of the plant.

3. Environmental Value - At the current rate of urbanization, the ecosystem is losing its
balance. Therefore, tree planting is essential to maintain the ecological balance and
ecosystem. Therefore, the environmental value of garden preparation is important.

4. Aesthetic value - The beauty of the environment as well as the school is being enhanced
by the preparation of the garden.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

1. There is a need to allocate funds for gardening, maintenance, etc. in the school.
2. It is necessary to from a committee for the construction of gardens in the school for this
program.
3. Adequate amount of garden traction equipment should be arranged.
4. If necessary, well trained gardeners should be recruited.
5. To make the garden attractive, different types of flowering plants should be planted.
6. How many rules should be made, such as not touching the tree, not tearing the leaves,
not picking flowers, etc.
7. Although there are classes on environmental issues in the school, there should be one
class a week for garden construction.
8. You have to have a gardener for the garden.
9. Social forestry and environmental awareness attitudes should be developed among the
students.
10. Emphasis should be placed on gardening preparation to reduce the reading pressure of
students and for peace of mind and development.

Conclusion :

As a result of globalization and urbanization of the present age, every intention is being cut
down. Huge huge buildings are being built. As a result, various types of pollution and

diseases are being created. Oxygen levels in the environment are declining, so tree planting
is very important. It is very important for their own interests. Students are citizens in the
future, so if they are given the idea of environmental awareness and protection from a young
age, then the world will become beautiful. The idea of environmental awareness and
conservation is instilled in the students by preparing the garden. On the one hand, just as
the environment is being protected by the preparation of the school garden, on the other
hand, the school is giving rise to the idea of beauty and creativity of the students.

Socially Useful Productive Works (S.U.P.W)


Introduction:

One of the vast areas of socially productive work. School level students enjoy activities to
the fullest and are filled with joy and excitement when the S.U.P.W. session arrives.
Through S.U.P.W., students have the opportunity to learn and explore more ideas.
Extremely beneficial to the society. Students are engaged in various activities in the school
and they are so satisfied and happy that they are shared with each other and it is a great
thing for the society. So it can be called "Action Program".

1. Historical background - The education system of India during the British rule was
conventional and traditional. The British, in their own interest, insisted on the process of
making clerks in the Indian education system. After the independence of India, the British -
made education structure of India was adopted. However, after independence, the
education system was changed. In this context, Mahatma Gandhi said, Again the closet was

"Socially Useful Productive Work (S.U.P.W.) is a subject in Indian Schools where students
can choose from a number of vocational education activities - emand, writting, gardening,
cooking, painting, caspertry, and other crafts and hobbies."

Conclusion:

At present in the education system students study only to pass the exams. It does not have
the knowledge of ancillary matters if it is a good student academically then what will all the
students who are not able to handle the studies do? S.U.P.W. should therefore be
introduced from the school level, so that students can develop their personality through
training and bring them to social transformation. That is why the S.U.P.W. program has been
given importance to all the students of the school.
