Crime rates are likely to decline due to the advancements
in technology, which will help prevent and solve crimes in
an easier way. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is widely believed that technological progresses facilitate to
deter and solve crimes, leading to a decrease in crime rates. From
my viewpoint, I totally agree with this thinking due to the
development of surveillance cameras, biometric scanners and
DNA analysis.
Admittedly, surveillance cameras play a crucial role in reducing
crime rates. In the past, preventing would-be criminals from doing
their illegal activties seemd to be a challening task, as it seemed
to be almost impossible to identify those who were about to
commit crimes. However, with the widespread installation of
surveillance cameras everywhere, authories might now quickly
detect suspicious behaviors of criminals, promptly preventing
them from commiting crimes that results in a reduction in crime
rates. For instance, crime rates in major cities such as Singapore
or Japan, for instance, witnessed a notable fall thanks to the
ubiquity of surveillance cameras throughout public places,
emphasizing the importance of applying technology into crime
prevention.
Moreover, biometric scanners and DNA analysis serve as powerful
deterrents to crime. Specifically, prior to the introduction of these
technologies, law enforcement agencies had to devote a colossal
amount of time and effort to collect evidence from potential
suspects before making an arrest decision. Meanwhile, authorities
might now take prompt actions based on concrete evidence
provided these aforementioned technologies within a short period
of time. This may not only ensure the justice but also discourage
would-be offenders from carrying out illegal acts, greatly
contributing to a decrease in crime rates.
In conclusion, the technological developments such as
surveillance cameras, biometric scanners and DNA analysis are
effective tools in thwart and tackle crime issues. These
technologies enhance law enforcement efficiency and act as a
precusor to stop would-be criminals.
