INTRODUCTION

The term AIA refers to “Agricultural industrial attachment “and the program was
conceptualized to reorient graduates of Agriculture and allied subjects for ensuring and
assuring employability and developing entrepreneurs for emerging knowledge-intensive
agriculture. It is an essential prerequisite for the award of a degree to ensure hands-on experience
and practical training by adopting the following components.

1. Experiential learning
2. Rural Agricultural Work Experience
3. Industrial attachment
4. Skill development training
5. Students Projects
All the above-mentioned components are interactive and are conceptualized for building skills
in project development and execution, decision-making, individual and team coordination,
approach to problem-solving accounting, quality control, marketing, and resolving conflicts,
etc. with an end-to-end approach.

Objectives:
 To impart analytical skills and the capability to work independently.
 To conceptualize, design, and implement the proposed work plan.
 Learn to work as a team- sharing work amongst a group, and learn leadership qualities.
 Learn to solve a problem through all its stages by understanding and applying project
management skills.
 Learn to do various implementations, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The one-day orientation programme was conducted by college. Being the coordinator behind
this whole picture, explained the vision behind this programme telling us how to participate in
the programme, what are the tasks to be done and objectives to be fulfilled for the success of
it. Several groups were made and allotted to different companies of State and also outside the
state. After that, from date of beginning of program we started our activities. We choose for
food processing unit which was in Bhubaneswar. the work internship went for 3 weeks from
07.11.2022 to 21.11.2022. in these three weeks we learnt about the structure, function of the
industry, interaction with the employment, ethics behind the activities.

What is food processing?
Food processing is the transformation of a raw ingredient into food or food into another form.
food processing typically takes clean, harvested crops or butchered animal products and used
these to produce attractive, marketable, and often shelf-life food products. similar processes
are used to produce animal feed.

The food processing sector is a highly fragmented industry, it widely comprises the following
sub-segments; fruits and vegetables, milk, milk product, beer and alcoholic product,
grain processing, packaged or convenience food, and packaged drinks.

Falcon Marine Exports is an Indian aquaculture firm leading in the production, processing,
export, and marketing of fresh and frozen seafood products. We have been operating from the
state of Odisha for the last 30 years.

They are shrimp experts who work sincerely towards achieving continuous growth and
profitability. They maintain the highest standard in quality control and food safety to ensure
that all of their customers receive products as per their own specifications and preferred
schedules.

This section deals with the coming of raw materials from going down to make it into the
products. most of the human resources and types of equipment and machines are used in
these sections

SELLING AND MARKETING OF PRODUCT


This section is more labor-oriented. Packing, sorting, and grading are done in this section.
after sorting and packaging the products are ready for selling.

FINANCE
This section deals with the finances for all the work, budgeting, and planning of the work
from production to selling.

AQUACULTURE AT FALCON
The rapid production process increased shrimp volume per unit area, and higher profitability
is what they aim to achieve through their state-of-the-art 158 Ha of aquaculture farms and
5000+ contract farms arrangement. To start with they use the right nutritional programs and a
unified culture system that guarantees the highest biomass in the harvesting process. It aims to
add 437 ha of aquaculture farms in the coming years.
The customized feeding facilities are top-notch and meet the economic and technical goals of
their plant. It uses a high-quality feed that helps improve the overall health of shrimp and
ensures the maximum number of possible shrimps within a short period. It provides reliable,
time-bound services.

DIVISIONS AT FALCON
1. PROCUREMENT OF RAW MATERIALS & HATCHERY: -
At Falcon, shrimps begin their lives in their modern hatcheries. The hatcheries include more
than 25 acres of nursery ponds with a capacity of 2 bn. seeds p.a. that offer best kind of shrimps
found in the industry. Seeds consistent with particular growth aspects are chosen under careful
supervision and then taken to nursery ponds to promote further growth in a controlled
environment. Mature seeds are then collected from the ponds and placed in hatcheries, along
with salt blended water set to a particular temperature, in order to promote healthy larvae.
They have also grown their own Phyto-plankton to ensure continuous availability of food
during the growth process of shrimp larvae. Additionally, they have trained their professionals
to use only the broodstock that is best, filled with matured eggs and completely free from
viruses.
Falcon has productively teamed up with suppliers, farmers, in-house hatchery, and hatcheries
across the country in vertical succession. This has helped us guarantee adherence to food safety
standards in every process and stage of production and deliver the finest quality of shrimp to
their customers. Their hatchery supports workplace safety, healthy living and economic growth
of farmers and the region where they operate.
Falcon also procures its most raw materials from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Gujarat.

2. PROCESSING AND STORAGE PLANTS: -
Falcon Marine Exports has always taken steps towards achieving its dream of becoming the
finest shrimp plant facility in India. With its modern processing capability, up-to-date storage
facility and latest freezing conveniences, the company is on its way to becoming completely
self-integrated.
Additionally, utmost care is taken at Falcon Marine Exports when it comes to the features of
bio-security. Each of their plant facility is resistant to bio- contamination, bacteria build up and
fungi infection. Fences are installed around the plant to keep the animals and birds away. There
are proper stipulations for hygiene control and disinfection of the workers. All-around care is
taken to eliminate the chances of cross contamination in the facility.

 Obtaining premium fresh raw material - They collect only the best raw material and
transfer it to their processing facility with utmost care and perfection.
 Adequate Refrigerated Vehicles - Their plant facility has insulated and refrigerated
vehicles of several sizes, using which they carry the raw material to any place without
dropping a sweat.
 Procuring Centers - They have many procuring centers that can accelerate the collection
of raw material according to the demand of the processing facility.

SEAFOOD PROCESSING
Falcon has been the leading seafood exporter of India for the last 2 decades. Over the years
they have established its credentials as an organization dedicated to excellence in product
quality and customer satisfaction. The shrimps that are marketed under their brand have firmly
captured the international market, contributing 45% of total exports from the country. Apart
from exports, they are also the key supplier in the local market providing seafood to local
restaurants through their Falcon-Chilika Fresh retail outlets.

They have put up processing units all along the eastern coastline of India and their modern 120
MT/day facilities ensure continuous delivery of products throughout the year. Their processing
units are equipped with an in-house cold chain and logistics facilities that help us streamline
the supply process. They export about 15,000 MT of frozen shrimp in a year.

to the newest local and international guidelines. Their products comply with all the mandatory
international food safety standards. HACCP, ASC, ISO, BRC, and BAP are their principal food
safety standards. They supply seafood to the USA, European Union, and other countries of the

4. MARKETING
Falcon is setting up retail outlets across Odisha to cater to the increasing demand for seafood
and increase its brand visibility. The company has entered into an agreement with the Govt of
Odisha to set up seafood retail outlets branded as ‘Falcon-Chilika Fresh’. 12 such outlets at
prime locations in Bhubaneswar have already been launched and 14 more will be launched in
the next few months. This will go up to 150 in the next 2 years. Additionally, the company also

has plans to open a distribution center in the USA, along with being the chief vendor for a large
retailer.

Emphasizing on quality, freshness, strict quality control, they ensure that at Falcon-Chilka
Fresh, no preservatives, additives or other chemicals are acceptable. For added convenience,
they use industry grade packaging system, so that purchases stay in good condition for longer
period of time. Staffs at their retail outlets are fully trained and have extensive knowledge of
seafood products.

Their retail chain aims to offer a vast selection of fresh seafood with no chemical in sight. Their
seafood will be sourced daily, so that they can provide fresh products from the hatchery directly
to kitchen only with a concise stop at their retail counter. Further, the company plans to have a
section for seasonal seafood options at all Falcon-Chilika Fresh outlets. They will also provide
wholesale seafood to local restaurants and hotels.

Starting in the year April 2017, they are one of the lead producers of shrimp feeds in India. To
keep up with the production needs, they have adaptable feed unit to manufacture shrimp feeds,
which are at par with international standards. They use modern technology to produce suitable
feed pellets for vannamei culture that can sustain its form and nutritional content under water
from 3 to 4 hours. Their state-of-the-art feed production unit uses internationally renowned
Buhler machinery.

Shrimps require a wide range of nutrients in the feeds to grow; some may have a less quantity
input in the feeds. However, for the better and sustainable growth of shrimp with better
productivity, a balanced feed is necessary to carry on the necessary nutrients. Their crew in the
feed unit is specially trained to provide balanced feed that can fulfill the entire daily nutrient
requirements of vannamei species. The quality and formulation team in the unit put their
maximum effort to assure best quality for each feed pellet. Their balanced feed named “falcon
fresh” rule out nutrition wastage, thereby maximizing production at a reasonable cost.

Their current in-house requirement of shrimp feed is 35,000MT and the number is growing
rapidly every year. To cater to the increasing demand, Falcon has put up a 72,000 MTPA
captive shrimp feed unit in Jaymangalpur, Odisha to meet the domestic requirement and
availing fresh feed within a shorter transit period. Plans are also underway to put up two more
feed units at Gujarat.

PRODUCTS
Raw shrimps are procured from farms set along the coasts of Theyst Bengal, Andhra Pradesh
and Odisha. After processing, these shrimps are exported to the USA, Japan, Malaysia, Canada,
Australia and other countries in the Gulf and Europe. The company strictly adheres to quality
control norms of HACCP and USFDA that are mandatory for export.

Keeping pace with technological changes and shift in consumer behavior, Falcon now has a
value-added product-mix that includes IQF, Cooked, Peeled Shrimps, Salad shrimps and more,
in addition to its traditional lineup of raw and blanched shrimps.

 This Agro-industrial attachment programme really help us to know about industry and
industrial situation. The knowledge and skill of mine has enchanced in professional point
of view.
 We were very much acquainted with the industry, their working passion and we get know
many things that we aren’t aware of.
 Last but not the least, the staff members were loving towards us and also very supportive
and cooperative.

CONCLUSION
 I rate falcon marine on the 1-10 scale with ten the highest rating a clear 10. Falcon Marine
not only processes and sells shrimp, they also provide market information, which helps in
guiding the customers. It is one of the most successful exporting industry in india.
 Falcon is committed to an assured decline in the rate of toxic chemicals or pathogen from
getting transferred to successive cycles, thus improving the social and economic condition
of the communities which work for them. Their CSR activities are targeted to add to the
living standards of weak farmers and unemployed rural youth. We are proud to have been
able to provide a sustainable way of life to more than 10,000 poor families in Odisha
