1 Introduction

1.1 Executive Summary

Frequency writing software of integrated equipment (hereinafter referred to as the

"frequency writing software") is a software used for reading and setting of channel

parameters of integrated equipment, such as ad-hoc networks, repeaters and ship-

mounted radios.

1.2 Operation Environment

1.2.1 Hardware Environment

CPU: Dominant frequency 2.5GHz or above

Memory: 2G or above

Interface: USB 2.0

Frequency Writing Cable: HID frequency cable

1.2.2 Software Environment

Operating System: Window XP、VISTA、Window 7

Driver of frequency writing cable: insert the HID panel of the frequency writing cable

into the host computer

Note: need to get the company’s authentication before use

1.3 Software Interface

The frequency writing software interface is as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1 Software Interface

Meanings of Serial numbers in the diagram:

①=Menu bar: including functional options of the software and the ‘Help’.
②=Toolbar: used for fast operation of some commonly used functions, such
as opening the equipment, import and export of frequency writing data and
reset, etc.
③=Directory tree: used to select views to operate.
④=Operation view: interface on which the user writes frequencies.
⑤=Status bar: used to display the current status of the software.

2
1.4 Software Modes
Software modes include ad hoc network, repeater and ship-mounted radio.

Click on "data - > mode" on the menu bar, a dialog box for software mode switching

will pop out.

2 Installation

This frequency writing software is a green software. After getting our authorization of

software, the user needs to copy or extract the software to a desired directory, and the

installation is finished. Double-click on the main program to run the software.

Note: software running environment in some operating system may be incomplete,

thus the software can not run. Under such circumstance, the user should extract

"vcredist_x86.rar" in the installation directory, and run the "vcredist_x86.exe" to fix the

system running environment.

3 Frequency Writing Procedure

3.1 Preparation
Prepare the frequency writing software, HID frequency writing cable and integrated

equipment. Insert the USB end of the HID box of the frequency writing cable into the host

computer, and insert the square port of the frequency writing cable into the CAN port of

integrated equipment.

3.2 Procedure
The frequency writing procedure includes three steps: opening equipment, reading

and writing frequency. As shown in Figure 2.

Figure 9.

Figure 8 Working Mode - Parameter Interface of Local Channel

Specific meanings of working mode parameters is shown in Table 1.

Table 1 Description on Working Mode Parameters

Name Description

Wired link A general option. Select it when the channel applies to wired calls. As

for wireless channels, do not select this option.

Base station A general option. Selected, the base station is in normal working

mode mode; otherwise in radio working mode.

Dedicated A general option. Selected, the channel is the control channel.

7
control channel

PDT Mode used for digital trunking. Selected, the channel applies to radios with

PDT signaling verification. Otherwise, the channel applies to radios

with DMR signaling verification.

Service A general option. Selected, the user can suspend the channel in

suspending remote control.

Radio login The radio must send log in request before allowed to access the

network. Otherwise, the radio can access the network without log in

request.

Radio used for digital trunking. Selected, the authentication function is

management active. This function needs to be used for coordination with the

authentication service or software authentication.

Radio Selected, the channel will upload the activity information of the radio,

information such as radio log in, log out, radio PTT status, etc.

Radio Selected, it will collect radio positioning information.

positioning

Ring mode This option is dedicated to single calls placed by PDT digital radios.

When selected, the control channel will require the recipient radio to

ring, the subscriber can decide whether or not to answer.

Open group Select it to enable the radio to call an unregistered group, which is

call automatically set as a local group.

Simulcast When simulcast calls are assigned to a called station, they can only

channel be assigned on the audio channel whose option of simulcast channel

has been selected.

Conventional Select this option to support conventional radio conversation.

base station

Routing As an assistant control channel, it applies to digital/analog dual

channel modes. In an analog system, the user needs to choose the dedicated

analog channel.

Open the the radio database function on the functional board, to accelerated

8
database the process of single calls.

Dedicated When the control channel is an analog channel, this option should be

analog channel selected.

Preoccupied used for engineering tests.

channel

Signaling In analog trunking, the PTT signaling of the radio controls audio

maintain forwarding, otherwise it is controlled by the GATE signaling.

Local long Tx This option is exclusively used for analog calls. If selected, when the

channel assigns analog calls, the channel is still in a transmitting

status even if no radio is talking.

Automatic used for digital trunking. Broadcasting the control channel information

roaming of the adjacent base station, helping the radio searching for the

strongest signal. But the control channel parameters of the adjacent

base station should be registered at the same time.

Disable If selected, the audio channel only accepts disable requests placed

restriction by the calling radio in the current conversation.

Call forwarding When the base station receives an unregistered group call, it will

forward the call signaling to the registered base station. Or forwarding

GTC signaling from other base stations to notify that a roaming radio

accessing the talking channel.

IP networking Multi-channel networking is achieved through the IP port of the CCM,

mainly used in mini base stations.

Digital/Analog used for engineering tests.

demonstration

Analog audio used for engineering tests.

2.4K

Dynamic If selected, it will assign frequency dynamically from the frequency

frequency database, otherwise it will assign fixed frequency.

Channel used for engineering tests.
