Reflection on “Exploring Emotion” and “I am”

1. Reflecting of what I've experienced recently, I've felt a range of emotions

which are Joy, Frustration, and sadness.
Joy: I felt a surge of joy when my dear sister gave me money for me to spend
in school. The excitement and happiness in that moment were truly fulfilling.
Frustration: I encountered frustration while answering test papers during
exam since some of the questions are really tricky. Feeling stuck or unable
to overcome an obstacle can be quite frustrating.
Sadness: I feel really sad when my dog passed away recently. I feel like down
in the dumps and unable to process my thoughts coherently after he passed
away.

2. These exercises for studying emotions have helped me become more

aware of my emotional condition. Previously, I could have simply
acknowledged feeling "bad" without understanding the exact emotions
involved. I can now identify feelings such as joy, frustration, and sadness,
allowing me to better understand and address the underlying reason and
how to effectively adress it.

3. Through these activities, I learned a few key facts about myself and how
to manage my emotions. First, it is that recognizing the conditions or
thoughts that trigger particular emotions is an important first step.
Identifying these triggers allows me to plan ahead of time and develop
coping techniques to manage my emotional response. Second, finding
appropriate ways to express emotions is essential. For me, this may include
healthy ways to vent feelings such as exercise, creating artwork, chatting to
a trusted friend, and so on. And lastly, mindfulness techniques such as
meditation and deep breathing help me become more aware of my
emotions in the present moment. This permits me to respond thoughtfully
rather than impulsively.
