Linear Slot Diffusers offer unique option for continuous linear application in ceiling of
ball rooms, auditoriums, in peripheral walls of office spaces etc. LSD is suitable for all
commercial and industrial projects which demand single or multi-slot diffusers for
ceilings, bulkheads or sidewalls for supply and exhaust air systems. It is used in ceiling
as horizontal diffuser or, in some cases, on vertical downward discharge. The ability to
produce the tight air pattern from maximum to minimum flow makes the product an
excellent choice for Variable Air Volume systems. They are constructed from heavy
gauged extruded Alumimuim alloy profiles and powder coated in standard white
finish.

Linear Slot Diffusers Assembling Features

The LSD frame, slotting strips, deflector blades are made of heavy gauge, stream lined, extruded aluminum alloy which have
high corrosion resistance and rigidity.

The factory finish diffuser includes two opposed adjustable deflector blades in every row according to the number of slots, which
can be set in to deflect the air either in horizontal or vertical directions, thus 180º air flow pattern adjustment can be achieved.

Both the Supply and Return Slot Diffusers are fitted with air deflectors, so that the air flow pattern can be changed easily by
rotating the air deflectors towards the serving area.

Supply Linear Slot Diffusers(SLSD) are equipped with aluminium alloy “HIT & MISS DAMPER” which controls the air flow / volume
without affecting the airflow pattern set by the deflector blades. Return Linear Slot Diffusers are without “HIT & MISS DAMPER”
. But are fitted with normal Deflector blades.

The deflectors and the Hit & Miss dampers are painted black in accordance with RAL 9005 colour code as a standardized item.

Air deflectors and Hit & Miss Dampers are adjustable by each slot separately.

Orders can be executed for LSD consisting of 1 upto 8 slots of maximum 3000 mm length with 16mm, 19mm and 25mm width
per slot. Standard slot diffusers are supplied with 19mm slot width.

A single module unit comes capped at both ends. It also can come without end cap at both ends or at any one end.....depending
which segment of the LSD unit , whether end pieces or as part of a continuous run. Removable end caps allows extending are
shortening slot diffusers run without replacing existing pieces.

The constructional pattern enables the ceiling or wall fixed linear slot diffusers to be connected to the duct system through a
plenum box with utmost ease.

Linear slot diffusers with special geometrical shapes are also available according to the designer’s request.

All our models can be supplied with optional rubber foam gasket to prevent any air leakage and protect the walls from smudging
behind the frame.

Blade Settings:
The deflection blades of the supply slot linear diffuser(SLSD) can be adjusted
to provide either a horizontal or vertical air pattern. The horizontal air flow
adjustment may be set for either left or right hand throw. Resetting the blade
position leads to a change in the noise level as well as and total pressure.

Throw Data:
All throw datas are based on the results of tests of 4-feet length diffusers. To determine throws for other diffuser lengths, use correction factors as
follows:

Sound Data:
Sound data (NC values) shown in the Performance Tables are based on a room absorption of 10dB, re 10-12 Watts and a 4-feet unit test length. To

Selection Procedure
The horizontal throw data is presented in the performance data pages with all slots supplying air in a given direction. To determine two-way throw, use
the catalog throw data for the desired quantity of air from the number of slots in each direction and reduce the throw by 20%.

Linear Slot Diffusers Product Testing

Introduction

According to the ETL - Intertek Testing Laboratories Inc, the following performance tables includes the test results conducted on the
three supply Linear Slot Diffusers. The result includes static pressure, area factor, throw and sound power level. The samples were
selected and supplied by Century Mechanical Systems Factory in April 12, 2010. Extrapolations and Interpolations were applied to
cover all range of sizes and parameters.

Test Method

The Samples were tested in accordance with the ASHRAE 70-2006 Standard “Method of Testing for Rating the Performance of Air
Outlets and Inlets”, which incorporates ADC 1062: GRD-84 test code for Grilles, Registers and Diffusers. Acoustical data were
obtained employing a Bruel & Kjaer Digital Frequency Pulse Analyzer and analyzed on a Compaq Computer. The reference sound
source used for this test was a calibrated Bruel & Kjaer Type 4204, which conforms to the above standard. The sample was installed
in the facility and supplied with measured volumes of air. The static pressure was measured 1 ½ duct diameters upstream of the inlet.

Noise Criteria(NC) ratings were determined by subtracting a room absorption of 10dB from the Sound Powder Level data. Air volumes
were calculated in CFM. Throw values were derived at terminal velocities of 150fpm, 100fpm and 50fpm.
