1. On classroom Communication and Management

One of the most important role of a teacher is being a good facilitator. If he/she

cannot manage the class, there are occurrence of chaotic classroom, especially the

students’ behavior. Yet, if the facilitator has the ability to handle the class, there

is a successful result that may happen.

As to practice teacher’s action on that problem she assured that everyone were

ready by asking the learners to clean first their surroundings in order to have a

conducive ambiance, prepare themselves, and settle down before they started the

discussion.

She realized that having a good communication and relationship with the

students leads to a great classroom environment. Wherein the learners can focus,

relate, and love what they are doing like studying or learning a specified subject.

2. On Effective Techniques, Strategies, Methods, and Approaches

Teachers have various techniques, methods, strategies, methods, and

approaches that can be utilized inside the class. These can be found through the

websites that are very helpful especially in tickling the students’ interests. An

instrument that would serve as a weapon of teachers to become not just an

effective but being a great one.

Just like what the practice teacher made, she used the reward system technique

through giving hearts to the students during their recitation which served as an

additional points, introducing motivational quotations before the proper

– 2025

discussion starts for them to reflect and be inspired, and utilizing interactive

games that awakens their hearts and minds. These instruments are very effective

in a reason that their activeness and participation during the class discussion have

brought out. Yet, there are still flaws happened since there are those students who

are very competitive where they wanted that in every question, they must be the

one to be called.

3. On Planning and Preparation

Planning and preparation is one of the hardest thing to do especially to the

teachers since it must be flexible and achievable. Wherein there must always be

some options like plans A-Z in order to avoid failures or interventions during the

discussions.

She always consider the interests of the learners which has something to do

with their activities and are aligned to the objectives of the topic since planning

carefully and precisely the lessons to be taught has an impact that would tell if the

teacher has delivered it effectively through knowing the results of the learners’

performances and outputs.

4. On Motivation and Presentation

Starting a lesson with a lively and interesting activities/presentations give the

learners the ability to be active. Providing them an interactive and unfamiliar

games arouses their sleepy minds and monotonous surroundings.

With that, the practice teacher introduced various twisty games that has

something to do with their topis. The following are what she provided; 4 pics-1

word, jumbled letters, showcasing their talents (singing, dancing, reading, and

more), and pick-A word(for extemporaneous speech).

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

5. On Practice and Reinforcement

In every class discussion scenario, before they started the lesson, they always

have the brainstorming. It tests the students’ retention of knowledge on their past

topic.

There are also appropriate techniques for the practice and reinforcement of their

knowledge through the 5 Laws of Learning and some were utilized by the practice

teacher in order to attain the objectives that the learners need to meet. The Law of

Effect is the most effective instrument that she utilized since the students’ most prefer

additional points that is why she provided a printed heart which served as a reward to

them in order to strengthen their satisfying feeling during the class hour.

6. On Evaluation and Assessment

Evaluation and Assessment are the most helpful instrument that measures the

knowledge gained by the students that was employed after the discussion of the

present topic for the teacher to be aware if she can already introduce the new lesson. It

was a benchmark to the teacher upon telling if the strategies employed were effective

and if not, then, there is revision or changing of method.

Through the use of various tools, she observed the strengths and weaknesses of

every learners. There are those students who portrayed consistency regarding on the

level of knowledge they have and some have transformed from being unsure of their

answers into being confident in sharing their thoughts. There are also students who

are not fond of sharing through oral recitation yet produces sentences with quality or

accuracy.

WITH
STUDENTS

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 20

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

1. Introductions and Reflections

Entering the real world of teaching is a bit familiar to the practice teacher since

she already experienced it inside their mother school yet, there were still times that she

witnessed strange things since there are new attitudes that she had encountered especially

that the number of learners that she handled before were doubled that is why adjustment is

a must for them.

With that, through the guidance of her cooperating teacher, she learned to manage

the diverse learners. Dealing with them, who has differ interests, level of knowledge,

skills, abilities, hobbies, and talents are very tiring yet enjoyable because she had

experienced exploring how to put herself to the shoes of her students which led to having

an unbreakable bond. On the other hand, in order to do that, she made a background study

and keen observation to everyone just to adopt their persistent needs.

In her first week, she already accepted the responsibility as a real teacher where

she must perform accordingly and at that time she felt exhausted. But, when time passed

by, those exhausting days were replaced with joy and comfortableness since there are

already good outcome on her hardships. It made her realize that she was not doing the job

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

just because it’s a must but because she felt and was told by her cooperating teacher that

“teaching is her passion.”

Discovering her real goal and desire in life was already unlocked because of this

internship, especially because of the genuine love, care, and support of the students and

everyone around her.

2. Class Analysis

The future educator’s schedule was 7:30-8:30 on 10-Einstein, 9:45-10:45 for 10-

Aristotle, 10;45-11;45 for 10-Archimedes, and 2:00-3:00 on 10-N|Newton. That was a

hectic schedule in the morning since she needs to check the students early in the morning

if they already cleaned their surroundings which became part of her daily routine. The

students obey what the teacher has instructed since they were already at the right age

where they have initiative even though some of them were hard-headed, they were still

doing their best to help their group mates.

The practice teacher and the students have built bond where they have shared

unforgettable moments which also resulted to good management of the class. But, there

are still those who are attention seeker and distracted students that needs to be given some

special care.

Additionally, based from her experiences, she came up with the “5 Be’s”

considering the students’ needs;

m Be Accessible. Show the learners that you are approachable. Give them your

biggest smile as if you are telling them that if they need help or have some

queries, they can talk to you comfortably, without hesitation, and with respect.

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 22

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

m Be a Source of Inspiration. Motivate them to learn and not to quit. Call their

names when reciting because their names are the sweetest word that their ears can

hear (tit would let them say to themselves “Halaaa kilala ako ni ma’am”)

m Be Generous. Don’t be selfish in lending them a hand and giving them praises.

m Be a Good Listener. If you, as a teacher notices that something’s wrong with

your student like having trouble, Ask if she want to share, Listen carefully, and

give pieces of Advice if necessary.

m Be Kind in Amending. In correcting the learners’ grammar and pronunciation,

act to avoid hurting someone's feelings. Avoid scolding and shouting them.

1. Working with Cooperating Teacher

The practice teacher was shocked because her chosen curriculum was grade 10

wherein her cooperating teacher is the extraordinary English Teacher of MNHS, her

former teacher, Sir Ariel S. Besa. She felt happiness and nervousness at the same

time. Yet, as time passed by, those have changed into being comfortable and being

eager to learn everyday. Why? because her cooperating teacher believed, trusted,

cared, scaffolded, and honed her hidden potentials. He introduced and taught her on

how to manipulate the new tasks of teachers like the modern ways through the

different School Forms. He always check her condition if she’s still okay and he also

gave her foods.

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 24

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

Since he was busy coaching the Editorial Cartoonist of the school, he entrusted his

advisory class to her that is why she was called “ADVISER” by her co-interns. It was

a great opportunity to her for a reason that she experienced inputting the grades of

learners on their E-class record, class cards, reporting to the ADAS, and printing

Certificates for the recognition. She also faced the parents on the issuance of cards

with the guidance of ma’am Ginalyn B. Sugue, she helped for the planning and

preparation of the classroom structuring, and Organized the Financial Assistance

Requirements of the learners. Her flexibility and multitasking skills as a teacher have

grown.

Those exhausting days was worth it because her Cooperating Teacher didn’t fail to

instruct and update her via messenger. Even though he is not around physically at that

time, she felt his presence and that his greatness as a teacher prevailed. More

learnings have gained by the future teacher when her cooperating teacher returned.

Sir Ariel’s most touching words that she noted was “Agbalin ka nga nasingpet,

managtulong, ken managayat nga maestra tapno adda nasayaat nga pakalaglagipan da

kanyam” These phrases are what he possess that is why it would serve as her guide

and he’d be her magical mirror that no one can replace for the rest of her life.

2. Working with Students

Learners with diverse attitudes, abilities, characteristics, level of knowledge,

skills, and talent are very hard to handle. It’s hard for the future educator to adjust

especially since she doesn’t aware yet on their differences that is why she observed

everyone until such time, her observations led to having a deep connection with them.

She was able to get nearly everyone’s attention and participation during the

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 25

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

discussion, and also fixing those conflicts happened by giving advice and letting the

students talk and make peace.

To transform their shyness into becoming confident, she made use of the reward

system as a tool. Those who were not talking have given a chance just to read or

either share their ideas. She was amaze because most of them were raising their

hands. They were not just participating because of the reward but because they are

comfortable to speak and all of them are given a chance. “Favoritism was avoided and

inclusiveness was prioritized”

3. Working with Community

A great partnership begins with the School and Community(the biggest unit of

family). The school and community’s outcome and success depends on how the

citizens of state act. The belongingness of everyone served as the foundation in order

to attain an effective relationship between the persons involved in the community and

institution. The oneness which merges everyone’s manpower.

IV. CONCLUSION
AND
RECOMMENDATIONS

The practice teachers were very blessed because Mallig National High School

was their assigned cooperating school. An institution that brought out their hidden

potentials which converted them to act like a real professional. An unparalleled

training was practiced by them. They didn’t regretted what they have chosen as the

school where they have been deployed.

Moreover, the teaching and non-teaching staffs are very approachable. All things

that they needed, in just a minute, they already provide what has been requested and

that’s because they were man of their words. Most especially to Sir Ariel S. Besa, her

cooperating teacher, he was one call away. He volunteers what he has like his laptop,

printer, his service (checking of grammar in lesson plans and PowerPoint, not just on

her practice teacher but is open to all interns), and more.

Therewith, the interns hoped that MNHS could still be partners with MPCI in

order to train accurately the succeeding interns and produce competent educators in

the near future.

or thing performing the action.

Ma’am, based from our activity awhile, I think

our lesson is about Subject-Verb Agreement.
D. Discussion
Subject-verb Agreement is a rule
designed to avoid grammatical mistakes.
1. COMMON ERROR :
*Agreement with Singular and Plural Forms of a
Noun
*Agreement with Singular and Plural Forms of a
Pronoun
REMINDER: When a noun/pronoun stands for
one thing, it is singular. When a noun/pronoun
stands for more than one thing, it is plural.
Verbs, too, have singular and plural forms
depending on the subject.
This is one of the basic Subject-Verb
Agreement if you are aware on the
proper Forms of Singular and Plural
forms of nouns.
Example: She likes you.
The noun used in this sentence is she
which describes only one person.
Therefore, the verb must be in singular
form “S form”.

The girl waters the plants.

The boy and girl water the plants.

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 32

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

2. COMMON ERROR:
*Agreement with Linking Verbs as Main Verbs
REMINDER: Linking Verbs must agree with
their subject; Is and was for singular subjects,
are and were for plural subjects. Was and were
are for subjects about/in the past.
Linking verbs connects the subject of your
sentence to an adjective, noun, or
pronoun.
Example: Angela was happy because she found
her missing dog.
I have here a Mathematics problem
solving question that you are going
analyze and transform it to a correct
grammar. Four people are standing in the line.
Jamila are standing 3 meters behind Lora
and 2 meters in front of Carla. Paula is
standing in front of Laura. What is the
distance between Carla and Paula?
What is the error in the sentence?

Ma’am, the usage of the linking verb

wherein Jamila are is wrong and it must
Absolutely correct! be Jamila is because the person
mentioned is singular or only one.

3. COMMON ERROR: Agreement with

Collective Nouns
REMINDER: A collective noun takes a singular
verb when the group it names acts a single unit.
It takes a plural verb when the group it names act
as individuals with different points of view.

Collective nouns can be used either

singular or plural noun, depending on the
content of the sentence.

Example: The troop members run towards their

prey.
In this example, Troop members was in

Narrative Report S.Y.2024 33

– 2025
<<MALLIG PLAINS COLLEGES, INC. >> COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

plural form because it was described the

members of the troop individually that is
why the verb must also in plural form.

Who wants to translate the sentence in

English?
Masaya ang aming pamilya na makita
kang muli.
Our family is happy to see you again.

4. COMMON ERROR: Agreement with Plural-

looking Nouns
REMINDER: Nouns that are plural in form but
singular in meaning agree with singular verbs.

Most of these words includes academic

subjects. The noun that ends in -s but
defined as singular.
Example: Physics is my favorite subject.
We all know that physics is a subject
which is always in singular form because
there is such no word as Physic. That is
why the auxiliary verb used is “is” which
is designed for singular subjects and in
present form.

E. .Application Directions: Choose and write the correct verb

from the given choices to complete the
statements.
1. Frontliners (refer, refers, referred, referring)
to the most advanced or important osition or
activity in a field or undertaking just like the

2. Heroes are those who commit an act of
remarkable bravery who have shown an
admirable quality such as great courage or
strength of character. In an epic, the (remain,

million Filipino families whose lives are greatly
affected by the ECQ.
8. Doctors (is, are, was, were) those who are

9. Social distancing is a set of non-

and reducing the number of times people come
into contact with each other.
10. Harlequins, like the circus clown, (wear,
wears, wore, worn) a costume, usually diamond-

F. Generalization

today’s lesson, let us have some recap.
