the natural world through methodological and
logical studies of nature.

Environment
is a complex of many variables, which
surrounds man as well as the living
organisms. Environment includes water, air
and land and the interrelationships which
exist among and between water, air and
land and human beings and other living
creatures such as plants, animals and micro
organisms (Kalavathy, 2004).
Much attention has been given to preserving the natural characteristics of Hopetoun

These polar bear remains
have been discovered at one
of the islands of northern
Svalbard, Norway. We do not
know whether the bear died
from starving or aging, but
more likely if we see the
good teeth status, it was
from starving. They say
nowadays that such remains
are found very often, as
global warming and the ice
situation influence the polar
bear population.

A solitary bear sits on the edge of
Barter Island, Alaska. There is no snow
when, at this time of year, there
should be. The locals in Kaktovik
noted that it's been an unseasonably
warm winter, and that the ice will be
late in forming this year. This will have
an impact on the local polar bear
population when it comes time to
hunt seals for their food in the winter
months.

--- is the field of science that studies the
interactions of the physical, chemical, and
biological components of the environment and also
the relationships and effects of these components
with the organisms in the environment
--- -- it is interdisciplinary because it
incorporates information and ideas from multiple
disciplines .
Main Goals of environmental science
1)to learn how the natural world works, to
understand how we as humans interact with
the environment or proper utilization of
natural resources
2) to discover sustainable ways of living
3) determines how humans affect the
environment also includes finding ways to deal
with these effects on the environment.
Subdivisions of Environmental Science
1. Atmospheric sciences
examines the new phenomenology of the
Earth's gaseous outer layer with emphasis
upon interrelation to other systems.

2. Ecology
studies typically analyze the dynamics
among an interrelated set of populations, or
a population and some aspect of its
environment. These studies could address
endangered species, predator/prey
interactions, habitat integrity, effects upon
populations by environmental contaminants,
or impact analysis of proposed land
development upon species viability.

3.Environmental chemistry
is the study of chemical alterations in
the environment. Principal areas of study
include soil contamination, air and water
pollution.

includes environmental geology,
environmental soil science, volcanic phenomena
and evolution of the earth's crust. In some
classification systems it can also include
hydrology including oceanography.

predict natural calamities like droughts,
floods and volcanic eruptions etc.
