Respected Sir/Madam,

My name is Amit Ghimire. I am from Gramthan Rural Municipality, Ward no. 02, Morang,
Nepal holding passport no. PA0140295. I have been accepted into the two-year Ontario College
Graduate Certificate (Post-graduate) program in Computer Software and Database Development
(M11M) for the May 2023 intake at Loyalist College, Canada. The commencement date of my
course is May 08, 2023. I am writing this statement as part of the requirements of my visa
application to begin my postgraduate studies in Canada. I sincerely hope you would take the time
to read it in order to fulfill my aim of receiving an international level education.

Education Background

Regarding my academic background, I completed School Leaving Certificate Examination (10 th

grade) from Shree Saraswati Secondary School with 78.50% in 2008 A.D. After that I completed
the Higher Secondary Examination Board (10+2) in Science faculty from NIC Higher Secondary
School with 69.90% in 2010 A.D.

Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed playing with computers and experimenting with different
applications. I am very fascinated with computers and my keen interest in the ever-growing
world of technology motivated me to choose computer science and information technology as
my major with an intense urge to develop into the challenging field. So, I completed the
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology (B.Sc. CSIT) from Orchid
International College, Kathmandu, Nepal affiliated to Tribhuvan University with 78.21% in 2016
A.D.

I realized the importance of international exposure and its far-reaching implications in my entire
future endeavor. In order to fulfill the English requirement to enroll in Canadian
Universities/Colleges, I attended IELTS examinations on 26 th March, 2022 and secured overall
score 7.0 (Listening-8.5, Reading- 7.5, Speaking-6.5 and Writing-6.0).

Work Experience
After completion of my Bachelor’s degree, I have been working as a Software Engineer in
SilpTech Innovation Private Limited from December, 2016 A.D. to till date. I have been working
at SlipTech Innovation Pvt. Ltd. for almost 6 years and my day-to-day tasks are:
• Design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications.
• Writing and testing code.
 Evaluating and testing new software programs.
  Optimizing software for speed and scalability
 Consulting with clients, engineers, security specialists, and other stakeholders.
 Presenting new features to stakeholders and internal customers

In my course of constant learning, I developed keen interest in computer software development. I

further wanted to develop specialized skills needed to create and maintain standalone and
enterprise-level computer software applications and databases. So, I decided to continue my
study and make my career as computer software and database professional.

Reasons not to choose my further education in Nepal

Nepal's educational system prioritizes theoretical learning over practical learning. However, in
order to function as a competent professional in the real world, only theoretical knowledge is
insufficient. Another undeniable fact is that Nepal's lack of universities and course options makes
it difficult for students to continue their education. Similar to this, the courses that are offered
lack flexibility and up-to-date-ness, and have been taught using the same curriculum for many
years. Also, there are no additional services for students. It is crucial for students to apply their
textbook knowledge in real-world situations in order to fully understand the subjects. Sadly,
there are not enough internship or work placement opportunities available for students.
Additionally, there is no obligation for a work placement in Nepal to complete the degree. As a
result, graduates in Nepal receive their degrees without having any practical exposure. Graduates
cannot fully excel in their employment since they are not prepared for the workplace.
Furthermore, Nepalese organizations prefer to hire individuals with an international degree
because they have international work experience, ability to work under pressure, ability to work
in dynamic groups both face-to-face and remotely, and the experience of working in a diverse
team. This, in turn, results in higher remuneration and other corporate facilities. Additionally, I
want to earn a degree that is globally recognizable and has international exposure. It is my dream
to get internationally recognized degrees and serve my nation and people with my knowledge
and experience. Therefore, I would like to gain an international degree to become a preferred
candidate for my future employment in Nepal. Thus, I decided to study abroad so that I can earn
the best qualification.

Why Canada?
Among many other nations, I chose Canada for my higher education because, like the United
States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, Canadian education is regarded as among the greatest
and most cutting-edge in the world. The universities in Canada are among the greatest in the
world; a wide range of programs are offered, and students can study their primary subjects in a
real-world setting with practical subjects. Canadian students are more technologically advanced,
thanks to their nation's remarkable research and technological resources, which also aids foreign
students in developing their ideas. Canada also provides an opportunity to post study work to
their students which allow student to gain skills, experience and knowledge in various fields.
One admirable reason I decided to pursue my further studies in Canada is the outstanding
educational standards and reasonably priced educational programs compared to other nations.
Canada's multicultural and welcoming environment, in my opinion, will make international
students feel at home and enable them to succeed. It will also serve as a great environment for
me to assess and grow as a person. Canada is considered as leading education powerhouse
providing internationally recognized degrees and sound facilities to international students. One
of the safest and most culturally tolerant countries for young people to live and study is Canada.
In my own country, I won't be able to obtain real-world experience living overseas and learning
about other cultures' views and styles. My nation's educational system is more grounded in
theory than in hands-on experience. This is the main factor in my decision to go to Canada.

Why Loyalist College?

Selecting the country to complete my course was one part of the process. My next task in hand
was to choose which University/College to study in. After visiting tons of website and collecting
information, I listed Lambton College, Conestoga College, Georgian College, Mohawk College
and Loyalist College. Then I decided to choose Loyalist College.
Loyalist College is located at east of Toronto, in the city of Belleville. Loyalist College is ranked

and personalized hands-on learning environments. As a result, the Loyalist graduates are job-

business and media. Also, Loyalist college has a bit more reasonable tuition fee compared to
others College’s ($17,375.00 CAD). So, there is no reason for me to pay higher fees for the same
degree in another university or college which otherwise would only add unnecessary financial
burden on my family. During the research, I also saw a lot of positive feedback about the college
and course that I am intending to study from the current and previous students. Therefore, I
chose to study at Loyalist College.

Why Computer Software and Database Development?

Computer software development has always been a field where I was interested in knowing and
learning more. I was seeking for a program that would help me reach my full potential, excel in
specialized skills needed to create and maintain standalone and enterprise-level computer
software applications and databases, both on premise and on cloud servers. So, this Post-
Graduate program in Computer Software and Database Development is perfect for me. It will
help me become fluent in contemporary software development languages and methodologies
while building deep content knowledge and database expertise.

The Computer Software and Database Development program will give me the opportunity to
study the most current trends in software development. It will prepare me for a career in
computer technology and database development in various industries. This course is mainly
about software development which includes three tiers - user interface, business logic, and
database. So, I will have experience in front-end web development that includes the user
interface (UI) for browsers and mobile devices and back-end development that includes
developing software containing the business logic that accesses databases. Simply, I will have an
understanding of the presentation tier, business logic tier, and data tier of software development.
Furthermore, I will learn different Front-end languages and technologies like HTML5, CSS3,
JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, React and others to develop user interfaces. I will also learn about
Back-end development which includes the business logic and database layers. The business logic
uses server-side programming languages and frameworks such as Java, C# .NET, Python,
Node.js and others. The database layer includes SQL and NoSQL database management systems
(DBMS), such as Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and MongoDB. Additionally, I will learn about DevOps
tools such as Git, GitHub, Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), and Continuous
Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines which are essential to build and release
high quality software in a time efficient manner.

After completion of course, I will be able demonstrate my knowledge and skills by developing
solutions to real world three-tier (client, server, and database) problems. I will be assigned with
major term projects that will allow me to actively engage in the evaluation, design, and
implementation of real-world software applications. As a result, I will develop deep content
knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communications skills. The
widespread use of computer technology in all industries, from manufacturing, transportation,
construction, education, health and financial institutions means that full stack software
developers are the key people shaping the solutions of today and tomorrow. So after graduation,
I can apply my problem solving and critical thinking skills to analyze business and industry
requirements and design, develop and implement real life, database driven, enterprise web
applications.

Future planning and Career Plan

After the completion of my education in Canada, I will return to my home country with the
knowledge, skill, qualification, and work experience gained in Canada. I will be very happy to
use all my experience and knowledge for the development of my nation. Alongside my job, I
want to contribute to the development of my country. Nepal is always in need of skilled and
qualified manpower. I believe the knowledge and experience will contribute to the advancement
of my career and the development of my country. Computers software and database
professionals with specialized skills to develop and implement solutions for the configuration
and integration of applications are in high demand and find careers in a range of sectors. So, I
can work in different positions such as Software developer, Mobile application developer,
Software tester, Database developer, Computer programmer, Front-end and/or back-end web
developer, Software designer, Technical analyst, Data analyst, System analyst etc. at different
companies of Nepal. I am highly interested to work in some of the top tech companies of Nepal

I will be offered a handsome salary range more than NRS 1,00,000 per month from these jobs
which is good income for any Nepalese family depending upon the nature of organization. After
gaining more experience in my desired field and with lots of hard work, my earning will be
increased. The development of innovative technologies to store, organize and analyze data in
secure databases has contributed in significant growth in employment opportunities for
Computer software and database professionals, so I am very sure I won’t have any difficulty in
securing well- paid job in Nepal Also. there is high demand for individuals with international
degrees so I am confident that I will not have any problem securing my dream job in Nepal. I
also have my responsibility towards my country and the society. So, after the completion of my
study in Canada, it is my duty and responsibility to return to my country. Being a citizen of
Nepal, it is my moral obligation to contribute to the betterment of my nation.

Incentives to return back to Nepal

I have various reasons to justify that I would return to Nepal after completing my studies. I love
my family, who have always encouraged me to have a good future. They have always sacrificed
their happiness to make my dream come to reality and supported me both emotionally and
financially in my academic journey. So after completing my study, it will be my turn to return
the love they have shown me by providing them with emotional support. I can’t leave my parents
alone in their old age and run away from my family, social and cultural responsibilities. After
finishing my degree, I will undoubtedly return to my wife, who is the love of my life, my best
friend, my greatest support, my biggest comfort, and my strongest motivation. Also, none of my
family members are in Canada so there is no point in staying there. Furthermore, I need to be
back in my country to take care of my family assets which will be passed down to me in future.

After completing my study in Canada, I will be able to set new goals for myself. After returning
back to my country, I will be acquired with lots of opportunity to work in big companies as
Computers software and database professionals are in high demand in my country.having
international degree with international experience, I will be prioritized in most of the companies
in Nepal. If everything happens as per my wish then, I will be able to earn good amount of salary
and fulfill every desire of my family. Therefore, I don’t have any intentions to stay in Canada
after completing my degree.

Financial Declaration

I am financially prepared to complete my intended course in Canada. My parents and my wife

will be sponsoring for my education and other expenses in Canada. I have paid the entire fees
that amounts up to CAD…… to Loyalist College. My mother (Mrs. Binu Ghimire) has an annual
income of 18,74,215.00 Nepalese rupees from her business at Sumit Kirana Pasal. Similarly, my
father (Mr. Bishwaraj Ghimire) has an annual income of 10,03,860.00 Nepalese rupees from his
employment at Kripa Law Associates as …………. In addition, he also receives 3,00,000.00
Nepalese rupees annually from Land Lease. Furthermore, my wife (Mrs. Anisha Regmi) has an
annual income of 7,56,000.00 Nepalese rupees from her employment at Hariyali Traders
as……………Therefore, my sponsors have a total annual income of 39,34,075.00 Nepalese
rupees which is equivalent to CAD 40,941.56 (Exchange rate CAD 1 = 96.09 Nepalese rupees)
In addition, my mother (Mrs. Binu Ghimire Neupane) has a savings of 4,100,000.00 Nepalese
rupees which is equivalent to CAD …….. at Kumari Bank and my father (Mr. Bishwaraj
Ghimire) has savings of 2,100,00.00 Nepalese ruppes which is equivalent to CAD …………. at
Global IME bank. Therefore, I am confident that there will not be any financial issue during my
study and stay period in Canada.
