VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT
1.0 MBEYA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MUST)
Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) is a result of the transformation
of the Mbeya Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) through the Universities Act
No.7 (2005) and Mbeya University of Science and Technology Charter of 2013. The
Vision of the University is to become the leading Centre of excellence for knowledge,
skills and applied education in science and technology.
Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST invites dynamic and suitable
qualified Tanzanians to fill six (06) vacant posts mentioned below;
1.1 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT: LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE 1 POST (RE-
ADVERTISEMENT)
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To understudy senior members, including attending lectures and seminars,
tutorials and practical training;
(ii) To conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
(iii) To assist in research, consultancy and outreach activities; and
(iv) To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
1.1.2 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Holder of Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Architecture/Bachelor of
Technology in Architecture/Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture with a
minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 from a recognized institution.

1.2 ASSISTANT LECTURER: URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING 1 POST
(RE-ADVERTISEMENT)
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for
undergraduate programmes;
(ii) To prepare and present case studies;
(iii) To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and
support;
(v) To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
(vi) To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
(vii) To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
1.2.2 QUALIFICATION &EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master and Bachelor Degrees in Urban and Regional Planning/Urban
Planning and Management/ Infrastructure Development and Management/ Housing
Infrastructure and Management/Geographical Information System (GIS)/ Disaster
Risk and Management/Transport Planning/ Urban Design/ Geographical Information
System (GIS) and Remote Sensing/ Land Use Planning and Management with at
least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 in master degree and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in
the bachelor degree with a minimum of B+ in dissertation. In addition, an Unclassified
Master’s degree by thesis/research only shall be considered if the applicant has a
passing grade and published at least two (2) papers in reputable peer-reviewed
journals in a relevant field.

1.3 ASSISTANT LECTURER– DATA SCIENCE 2 POSTS (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)
1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for
undergraduate programmes;
ii. To prepare and present case studies;
iii. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
iv. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and
support;
v. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
vi. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
vii. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
1.3.2 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master and Bachelor Degrees in Data Science/ MSc in Artificial intelligence/
MSc in Computer Science/ MSc in Computer Engineering / MSc in Information
Technology with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in
the first degree with a minimum of B+ in dissertation. In addition, an Unclassified
Master’s degree by thesis/research only shall be considered if the applicant has a
passing grade and published at least two (2) papers in reputable peer-reviewed
journals in a relevant field.

1.4 ASSISTANT LECTURER– AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS/AGRICULTURAL
AND APLLIED ECONOMICS (1 POST)
1.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for
undergraduate programmes;
ii. To prepare and present case studies;
iii. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
iv. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and
support;
v. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
vi. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
vii. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
1.4.2 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master and Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Economics/ Agricultural
Engineering/ Bioprocess and Post-harvest Engineering/Post Harvest Processing/
Agricultural and Applied Economics with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 in master
degree and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the first degree with a minimum of B+
in dissertation. In addition, an Unclassified Master’s degree by thesis/research only
shall be considered if the applicant has a passing grade and has published at least
two (2) papers in reputable peer-reviewed journals in a relevant field.

1.5 ASSISTANT LECTURER – ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (1 POST)
1.5.1 RUKWA CAMPUS COLLEGE
1.5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate
programmes;
ii. To prepare and present case studies;
iii. To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
iv. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and
support;
v. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision;
vi. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
vii. To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.
1.5.3 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master and Bachelor Degrees in Electrical Engineering majoring in
Electrical Power Systems/ Electrical and Electronics/ Renewable
Energy/Instrumentation and Control Engineering/ Power System and High
Voltage/Electrical Power Engineering/Electrical and Automation with at least a GPA
of 4.0 out of 5 in Master Degree and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 in the bachelor
degree with a minimum of B+ in dissertation. In addition, Unclassified Master’s
degree by thesis/research only shall be considered if the applicant has a pass grade
and published at least two (2) papers in reputable peer-reviewed journals in a
relevant field.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
i. All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years of
age;

• Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma transcripts;
• Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates;
• Professional Registration and Training Certificates from respective
Registration or Regulatory Bodies, (where applicable);
• Birth certificate;
v. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted:
• Form IV and form VI results slips;
• Testimonials and all Partial transcripts;
vi. An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal;
vii. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter
through his respective employer;
viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should
not apply;
ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;
x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level
education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania
(NECTA).
xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions
should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and
National Council for Technical Education (NACTVET);
xii. A signed application letter should be written either in Swahili or English and
addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Mbeya University of Science and
