ETE - Structural System

The document outlines an examination paper for the B. Tech. (Civil) III Year students, focusing on the Design of Structural Systems. It includes various questions related to structural design calculations, including bending moments, truss bridge forces, cold-formed steel advantages, prestressed concrete beams, and intz tank design. The exam allows the use of relevant codes and tables, with specific instructions for assumptions and justifications in calculations.

ETE-CE-308: Design of Structural Systems
Time: 3 Hrs. Max. Marks: 100
Notes:
1. Atempt any Four questions.
2 Use of all relevant IS & IRC Codes, steel table, and bridge rules of railways are
permitted.
3. Any missing data may be assumed suitably giving proper justification.
OVa) Calculate the design bending moment for the outer girder of an RC girder bridge due to
IRC class A loading (assume dead load moment as T025 kN-m). Important data are as
follows:
Structural form: Three girders of the same moment of inertia at 2.5 m cle distance
Effective span = l6m
Clear width of roadway F 6.8m, Kerb width on both sides=0.6m
Thickness of wearing coat = 80 mm
Thickness of slab= 200 mm
Also, design a mid-span section of the
outer girder to resist the above
moment. (21)
