Presentation for Robotic Hand

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Kabir Deshpande, I’m Ria Patil, and I’m Rusham Shah from Goldcrest High, Vashi. Today,
we are excited to present our project: the Robotic Hand.

KABIR:
A robotic hand, also known as a robotic gripper or manipulator, is designed to replicate the
dexterity of a human hand. It can grasp and manipulate objects, making it indispensable in
various fields.

Robotic hands range from simple grippers to advanced designs featuring multiple joints and
sensors, offering precise control and remarkable versatility.

RIA:
Let’s draw a comparison between human fingers and robotic hands.
Human fingers bend when the brain sends signals to muscles, with feedback enabling
adjustments based on touch and position. Similarly, our Robotic Hand uses a potentiometer-
based exoskeleton to detect movements. These signals are processed by a microcontroller,
such as the Arduino Uno, which controls servo motors to drive the robotic fingers.

While robotic hands achieve impressive precision, they lack the adaptability of human fingers.
They excel in specific tasks, particularly in repetitive or hazardous environments, but remain
limited in versatility.

RUSHAM:
Now, let’s explore the technology and engineering behind the Robotic Hand:

Electronics and Arduino Integration

Electronics form the foundation of the robotic hand. A potentiometer-based exoskeleton detects
motion, and the Arduino Uno processes this data to control the servo motors. Using the Arduino
IDE, a user-friendly programming platform, we developed algorithms to ensure seamless and
precise operation. Data transfer is facilitated via USB 3.0, ensuring efficient programming and
execution.

3D Printing and Mechanical Design

3D printing allows us to create customized components like finger segments and joints. These
components are designed using CAD software, ensuring functionality and an aesthetic appeal.
Lightweight materials were selected to optimize movement and durability.

Programming and Control Mechanisms

Precise coding is critical to mimic human hand movements. Algorithms interpret sensor data,
adjust joint angles, and control servo motors. This ensures smooth and accurate operation,
allowing the Robotic Hand to perform intricate tasks effectively.
KABIR:
Let’s discuss the real-world applications of robotic hands:

Prosthetic Hands
Advanced prosthetic hands empower users to perform complex tasks, improving their
independence and overall quality of life.

Tele surgical Systems

In healthcare, robotic hands enable surgeons to perform remote operations, bringing specialized
medical care to underserved areas.

Industrial Applications
Robotic hands assist in complex manufacturing processes, enhancing precision and minimizing
human error. They also handle hazardous tasks, ensuring worker safety.

RIA:
In Conclusion
The Robotic Hand exemplifies the power of STEAM education, blending science, technology,
engineering, arts, and mathematics to address real-world challenges. From assisting individuals
to revolutionizing industries, its potential is limitless.

Thank You!
