Types of Sensor

Temperature Sensor
Measures temperature changes using
thermocouples or thermistors, commonly used in
HVAC systems

Proximity Sensor
Detects the presence or absence of an object without
physical contact, used in automation and security
systems

Infrared (IR) Sensor

Detects infrared radiation to sense motion, heat, or
obstacles, often used in remote controls and night
vision
Ultrasonic Sensor
Uses sound waves to measure distance or detect
objects, commonly found in parking sensors and
robotics

Light Sensor (LDR)

Measures light intensity to adjust brightness in
devices like automatic street lights and smartphone
screens

Pressure Sensor
Detects force per unit area in gases or liquids,
essential in industrial automation and fluid systems
Gas Sensor
Identifies the presence of gases like CO₂, methane,
or LPG, widely used in safety and environmental
monitoring

Humidity Sensor
Measures moisture levels in air for climate control in
HVAC and agricultural applications

Touch Sensor
Registers physical touch or pressure to trigger
responses in touchscreens and interactive devices
Piezoelectric Sensor
Converts mechanical stress into electrical signals,
often used in vibration monitoring and acoustic
applications

Optical Sensor
Detects light or changes in light intensity, used in
barcode scanners and fiber optics

Magnetic Sensor (Hall Effect Sensor)

Measures magnetic fields for position sensing in
motors and electronic compasses
Flow Sensor
Monitors the rate of liquid or gas flow in pipelines,
essential in water and fuel management

Current Sensor
Measures electrical current flow in circuits to prevent
overloads in power systems

Accelerometer
Detects changes in acceleration and orientation,
commonly used in smartphones and vehicle stability
systems
Gyroscope
Measures angular velocity for motion tracking in
drones, gaming controllers, and navigation systems

Tilt Sensor
Detects the angle of inclination to maintain balance
in devices like smartphones and industrial equipment
pH Sensor
Determines the acidity or alkalinity of a solution,
widely used in chemical and agricultural applications

Strain Gauge
Measures deformation in materials under stress,
crucial in structural health monitoring

Radar Sensor
Uses radio waves to detect objects' speed and
position, applied in automotive safety and military
surveillance
