Assignment 7.Doc

This document is an assignment for the Structural Analysis course at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, detailing various problems related to influence lines for beams. It includes tasks such as deriving influence line diagrams, calculating reactions, shear forces, and bending moments for different beam configurations and load scenarios. The assignment is due on April 16, 2025, and covers both simply supported and cantilever beams.

STRUCTUTAL ANALYSIS
ASSIGNMENT NO – 7

Due Date: 16-April-2025

1. Derive and draw the influence line diagram for reaction at both ends, shear force and
bending moments for a section at a distance of 3 m from left end of a simply supported
beam of span 10 m.
2. A simply supported beam of span 12 m is loaded with three point loads of 80 kN, 50 kN,
and 45 kN at a distance of 2 m, 5 m, and 8 m respectively from the left end. Find the
reactions at both ends and shear force, bending moment at the section 6 m from the left
end using method of influence lines.
3. Find the reaction at both the ends, shear force and bending moment at point C of the
following beam using influence lines.

4. Find the reactions (vertical and moment) at fixed end, shear force and bending moment at
point C of the following cantilever beam using influence lines.

5. For the beam shown below. Derive and draw the influence line diagram for
(i) The reaction at A, (ii) The reaction at B, (iii) The shearforce at D, (iv) The Bending
moment at D.

6. Two wheel loads of 16 kN and 8 kN, at a fixed distance apart of 2m, cross a beam of 10
m span. Draw the influence line for bending moment and shear force for a point 4 m from
the left end, and find the maximum bending moment and shear force at that point.
7. A simply supported beam has a span of 15 m. An udl of 40 kN/m and 5 m long crosses
the girder from left to right, Draw the influence line diagram for shear force and bending
moment at a section 6 m from left end. Use these diagrams to calculate maximum shear
force and bending moment at this section.
8. A uniformly distributed load of 40kN/m and a length of 3meters moves over the span of
simply supported length of 18 meters. Compute maximum bending moment at 4 meter
from left support.
9. A train of three wheel loads of magnitude 45, 90 and 90 kN passes over a span of 40 m.
The horizontal distance between the loads are 5 m and 10 m. Find the greatest/absolute
maximum bending moment.
