Activity 1
Read the given story and answer the following questions.
Once upon a time there lived a reindeer in a dense forest. He was a
magnificent beast with soft skin and beautiful horns. He loved his horns like
anything. One day he went to drink water from a nearby river. He saw his reflection
into the water. He had proudly looked at his horns. He thought, “Oh! How
beautifully they are designed and how amazing they make me feel.” Then he
looked at his thin legs and thought, “How nasty and ugly they are!” His legs made
him feel sad. While he was still looking at his reflection, he heard the sound of
hounds. Though it was distant he knew they wouldn’t take much time to reach him.
He started running. The legs he cursed became his life saviour and soon he
reached a safe place. But unluckily, his horns got stuck into the branches of a tree.
He tried hard to release himself, but in vain. Soon he could hear the hounds getting
near and near. He tried desperately to get off the branches but could not. The
hounds got hold of him and killed him. The horns he was proud of ended his life.
