INTERNSHIP PLAN

I. INTRODUCTION

The On-the-Job Training component holds a pivotal role within the Bachelor of
Science in Industrial Technology (BSIT) program, serving as a crucial bridge between
academic learning and the practical demands of future careers. This integral subject is
strategically integrated to imbue students with real-world applications of skills and
competencies, enriching the teaching-learning process and contributing to the cultivation of
high-caliber graduates. By engaging in practical experiences, students are not only
equipped with hands-on knowledge but also contribute significantly to individual and
societal development.

The primary objective of the On-the-Job Training is to afford undergraduate


students the invaluable opportunity to serve as trainees in Host Training Establishments
and government institutions. In this capacity, students undergo a comprehensive exposure
to both office and fieldwork, aligning with the program's commitment to a holistic learning
experience. This structured approach ensures that students not only gain practical insights
but also undergo a rigorous evaluation process that enhances their overall learning and
readiness for their professional journeys.

This student internship plan is implemented in strict adherence to CHED


Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 104, Series of 2017, which outlines the Revised
Guidelines for the Student Internship Program in the Philippines (SIPP) across all
academic programs. By aligning with these comprehensive regulations, our internship plan
ensures conformity to national standards, promoting a structured and compliant approach
to student internships. This commitment not only upholds the quality and integrity of our
internship initiatives but also guarantees that our students receive a learning experience
that meets the established benchmarks set by the Commission on Higher Education.

II. GOALS / OBJECTIVES

Embarking on an On-the-Job Training program is a transformative journey designed


to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. The overarching
goals and objectives of this program are strategically crafted to provide participating
students with a comprehensive and enriching experience. Through hands-on opportunities,
exposure to professional environments, and meaningful interactions with industry experts,
the internship program aims to achieve the following objectives:

a. Enhance the practical skills of trainees through hands-on experience, allowing


them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
b. Expose trainees to the professional culture and practices of their chosen
industry, fostering a deeper understanding of workplace dynamics.
c. Enable trainees to explore diverse roles within their field, aiding them in making
informed decisions about their career paths.
d. Provide constructive feedback to aid trainees professional development and
help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
e. Engage trainees in meaningful projects that contribute to organizational goals,
allowing them to see the tangible impact of their work.
f. Foster an understanding of workplace diversity, exposing interns to different
perspectives and enhancing their ability to work in diverse environments.
g. Cultivate professional behavior, communication skills, and workplace etiquette,
preparing trainees for successful integration into professional settings.
h. Encourage the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills by
exposing trainees to real challenges faced by the organization.
i. Help trainees adapt to dynamic work environments, promoting resilience and
the ability to navigate change effectively.
j. Promote ethical considerations and awareness of professional conduct,
ensuring trainees adhere to industry and organizational standards.
k. Encourage trainees to reflect on their experiences, identify areas for growth,
and set goals for continuous improvement.
l. Equip trainees with knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to transition
successfully from academia to the professional workforce, enhancing their
employability.

B. Orientation and Briefing


The On-the-Job Training (OJT) readiness orientation and briefing for student
trainees play a pivotal role in seamlessly connecting theoretical knowledge with
practical application. This preparatory phase is instrumental in ensuring that
students not only grasp the expectations, responsibilities, and workplace dynamics
awaiting them during their On-the-Job Training but also comprehend the broader
context of their role within the professional landscape. By engaging in
comprehensive discussions and benefiting from experiential insights shared by
subject matter experts, students gain a foresight into potential scenarios they may
encounter and acquire the necessary skills to navigate them adeptly. This strategic
preparation aims to elevate the trainees experience, making it more profound and
impactful, while also contributing significantly to the development of practical skills
crucial for a seamless transition into the dynamic field of industrial technology.
Likewise, through this orientation, trainees will be enlightened and informed on the
different laws related to OJT.

The preparatory activities are scheduled to unfold over a two-day period


preceding the trainees deployment to their respective industries/establishment. The
following table provides a visual representation of the sequential flow of events
during the OJT Readiness Orientation and Briefing, outlining the structured plan to
ensure trainees are well-prepared for their upcoming on-the-job training experience.

C. Student Internship Agreement (SIA)

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) regarding the On-the-Job Training of


DMMMSU-MLUC students shall be executed between DMMMSU MLUC and the
Toyota Aisin Philippines, Inc; and a separate Student Internship Agreement
(SIA) regarding the particular Student’s internship shall be executed among
DMMMSU MLUC, the Toyota Aisin Philippines, Inc, the Trainee, the parent or
guardian, the OJT coordinator, and the On-the-Job Training Supervisor. These
agreements shall identify each party’s roles and responsibilities as well as certain
program policies regarding the internship program. (See Annex A for the sample of
SIA)

D. Performance

Evaluating the performance of student trainees is a critical process that goes


beyond a mere assessment of their work; it serves as a cornerstone for fostering
comprehensive professional development. By systematically assessing trainees
performance, organizations gain valuable insights into their strengths and areas for
improvement. This feedback becomes a catalyst for the trainees’ growth, guiding
them in refining their skills and adapting to the demands of the professional
landscape. Simultaneously, the evaluation process facilitates the alignment of
individual goals with organizational objectives. Clear expectations and performance
metrics help trainees understand how their contributions contribute to the broader
mission of the company, fostering a sense of purpose and direction in their work.

Furthermore, the evaluation process is instrumental in making well-informed


decisions regarding the trainees’ future opportunities. Whether it involves extending
a job offer, providing a reference, or recommending further training, the
performance assessment serves as a reliable basis for these choices. For students,
this feedback is invaluable as it not only validates their efforts but also helps them
strategically plan their career paths based on identified strengths and areas needing
improvement.

The mutual benefits of this evaluation system extend to both the trainees
and the hosting organizations. Trainees gain a comprehensive understanding of
their professional standing and areas for development, enabling them to navigate
the job market more effectively. On the organizational front, the insights gleaned
from evaluations contribute to program refinement, ensuring that the On-the-Job
Training experience remains dynamic and tailored to the evolving needs of both
parties. Ultimately, a robust evaluation process creates a positive symbiotic
relationship, where trainees thrive in their professional journey, and organizations
cultivate a pipeline of talented and well-prepared individuals. This collaborative
approach not only enhances the trainees’ employability but also solidifies the

emerging professionals in the respective industry.

The assessment of student trainees’ performance is a comprehensive


process, conducted at various stages: before, during, and upon the completion of
the internship program. This evaluation holds significant weight as it constitutes a
crucial component of the student's final grade for their subject OJTC 102:
SUPERVISED INDUSTRIAL TRAINING 2. Throughout the evaluation period, the
on-the-job Training Supervisor will utilize the provided evaluation form to assign a
numerical equivalent that reflects the trainees’ performance. This structured
approach ensures a thorough and fair assessment, contributing not only to the
student's academic standing but also providing valuable insights into their
professional growth during the On-the-Job Training.

E. CERTIFICATION

A Certificate of Completion shall be issued by the HTE to the On-the-Job


Trainee after the completion of the designated number of on-the-job training hours.
The certification shall at least bear the Toyota Aisin Philippines, Inc seal, the
trainees’ name and special designation (if any), and signed by the Toyota Aisin
Philippines, Inc authorized representative.
