Lab Exercise-Advanced Part Modeling

The document outlines two SolidWorks practice exercises focused on creating solid models of pipe connectors. Exercise 1 involves modeling a 3-way flanged pipe connector using features like Revolved Boss/Base and Circular Pattern, while Exercise 2 focuses on a straight flanged pipe with a square outlet flange, emphasizing symmetrical design and complex sketch profiles. Each exercise includes objectives, learning outcomes, and references to figures for guidance.

SolidWorks Practice Exercises

Exercise 1: 3-Way Flanged Pipe Connector (Reducing Tee Fitting)

Objective:
Create a solid model of a 3-way pipe connector with three flanged ends, incorporating
different diameters and using key features such as:

 Revolved Boss/Base
 Extruded Cut
 Circular Pattern
 Mirror and Fillet

Learning Outcomes:

 Develop multi-plane features

 Apply symmetry in complex parts
 Understand pipe fitting geometries used in mechanical assemblies

Refer to Figure A – Solid Model for Exercise 1

Exercise 2: Straight Flanged Pipe with Square Outlet Flange

Objective:
Model a horizontal pipe with circular flanges on both ends and a square flanged outlet on top.
This part involves:

 Symmetrical part design

 Complex Sketch Profiles
 Chamfers and Fillets
 Hole Wizard or Extruded Cut for bolt holes

Learning Outcomes:

 Reinforce 2D-to-3D sketching and extrusion logic

 Understand how multiple flange geometries are integrated
 Develop assembly-ready pipe components
