MPO (Multi-Fiber Push On)/MTP Solution

Schneider Electric MPO/MTP Solution is a pre-terminated optical fiber cabling system specifically
designed to satisfy the increasing demand for high bandwidth and high density in data center network,
enterprise building applications. Schneider Electric adopts MTP branded MPO connectors manufactured by
US Conec Ltd. to provide high precision and robust connectivity in all components.

Factory-terminated solutions provide improved system performance; ensure component compatibility and
consistent quality. The MPO system significantly reduces installation time and cost by simplifying the process
of deploying an optical network in the limited space environment, particularly in data center applications.

 I. MPO Trunk Cables

Schneider Electric MPO trunk cables are available in fiber counts from 12 to 144 fibers. The trunk cables are
terminated with the male MTP connector (with guiding pins) or LC connectors for high-density applications to
provide space savings and rapid installation.

The 12-fiber MTP connector, which has similar size to a LC Duplex connector, enables reducing load in the
cable tray and enhancing the airflow for cooling.

All major TIA/EIA polarity management methods are provided. The default connector fiber path (Pair Flipped) is
shown as below:

The design of pulling socks, which will be installed after factory testing on both ends of the trunk cable, makes
the installation much quick and easy. The connector protective tube provides ideal resistance against crush,
torsions, water and dust. The default fiber cable short term tensile strength is 400N.

Fiber types are available in OS2, OM3 and OM4, with cable outer sheath in both OFNP & LSZH material
options. And the default cable (12-core) outer dimension is 4.5mm while 24-core is 5.6mm.

The cable length measurement is from connector ends (without dust cap & pin length) at both sides of the
cable. The leg length (distance between heat shrinking tube to connector end) is 0.9m for MPO connector end
and 0.9m-1.0m for LC connector end.

 II. MPO Cassette

Schneider Electric’s MPO Cassette is used to break out the MPO connectors terminated on trunk cables into
LC duplex connectors to facilitate patching into system equipment, patch panels or work area outlets. It
provides greater manageability and flexibility with a modular infrastructure in data center application. Both
Multi-mode OM3/OM4 and Single-mode OS2 types are available. MPO connector equipped on the cassette is
female type (without guiding pins).

The outer sheath is made of high quality metal sheet with high intensity, which provides superior protection for
inner fiber cable harness and accessories. It can be installed in a horizontal 1U optical fiber enclosure that can
hold up to three such cassettes. Alternatively, it can also be mounted in a 4U enclosure vertically up to 12 such
cassettes.
The connectivity capacity can be either 12 or 24 fibers with LC interfaces via below fiber path arrangement
(Straight Through). Other polarity management methods are able to be provided as options.

 III. Harness/Fan-Out Patch Cord

Schneider Electric MPO 12/24-Core Fan-Out Patch Cords are used to break out the 12-fiber MTP connector
terminated on trunk cables into LC duplex connectors. The solution helps dramatically reduce the space
occupied by traditional solution. The MTP connector equipped with is female type (without guiding pins). The
length measurement is from connector ends (without dust cap & pin length) at both sides of the patch cord.

Every harness patch cord is 100% factory tested with low attenuation loss according to international standards
and data center requirements. Each split of the fiber harness is numbered for easy application and
maintenance.

 IV. MPO Enclosure

Schneider Electric MPO Enclosure is specifically designed for the LAN and data center environment. The
enclosures are mountable in 19’ equipment racks or cabinets. It provides the cross connect function for whole
data center equipments.

The 1U height enclosure accepts maximum 3 MPO cassettes (max fiber counts=72), and maximum 12 MPO
cassettes (max fiber counts=288) can be installed on the 4U unit.

Transparent front cover (available on 4U unit) provides instant visibility of the connection status, in the
meantime provides perfect protection against dust and humidity.
