1. Check-In Tool
2. Clipboard (for teachers)
3. Timer/digital stopwatch – to be used during the check-in assessment
(per teacher)
4. Blank piece of paper to cover the check-in tool.
5. Pencil for manual recording

III. How to administer the Check-In Tool:
1. Prepare the needed materials (e.g., Check-In Tools, Literacy Skills
Inventory Sheet, timer, etc.)
2. The check-in tool is to be administered to each learner individually.
3. Give learner the Check-In Tool.
4. Explain the instructions to the learner.
5. Remember to cover the Check-In Tool with a blank piece of paper,
revealing one row at a time.
6. Ask the learner to start at the top left of the page and use his/her index
as he/she sounds out the letters, reads syllables, words, and so on.
7. Make sure to time the learner once you have asked him or her to start.
8. Tick all the boxes that the learner reads correctly on the Literacy Skills
Inventory Sheet. Automated worksheet (Excel) will be provided.
9. Even if the learner has miscues, let her/him finish all the tasks and
take note of the time she/he finished.

• It will assist in monitoring school check-ins and post-test submissions.

decision-making.

• Check-In Results: Displays the results of Check-Ins 1, 2, 3, and 4 submitted by
