ÔN THI SPEAKING AV5

1. Hobbies & Pastimes

Do you have a hobby?
Well yeah, but my hobby is not exactly the most common one. I enjoy
collecting coins and notes from different countries in different eras.
The reason why I am so interested in this is because I believe coins
can provide a lot of information about a country's culture and history,
which is extremely exciting to know about.
 common: phổ thông
 coins: đồng xu
 notes: tiền giấy
 eras: thời đại

What equipment do you need for it?

Well I don't really need much. I only need a sturdy book which can be
used to keep the coins and notes in a good condition. To be more
specific, it protects them from humidity in the air and accidental water
spillage.
 sturdy: chắc chắn
 humidity: độ ẩm
 water spillage: sự đổ nước

Do you think hobbies should be shared with other people?

I think it depends on the nature of the hobby. There are hobbies which
require the participation of many people such as dancing or playing
team sports. On the other hand, there are hobbies which would be
better to be enjoyed alone, like reading or playing an instrument.
 participation: sự tham gia
 team sports: các môn thể thao đồng đội
 What hobbies are popular in your country?

It depends a lot on the age group in my opinion. To be more specific,

young people tend to enjoy energetic activities such as playing sports
or going to the clubs since they often look for fun. In contrast, older
people prefer serenity so they often opt for pastimes like reading or
gardening.
 age group: nhóm tuổi
 energetic: nhiều năng lượng
 serenity: sự thanh thản
 pastimes: trò giải trí
 In your opinion, is it important to have a hobby?

Yes definitely. Since people are becoming busier, they are constantly
put under pressure. Therefore, it is necessary for people to be
interested in something, so they can engage in activities that are not
related to their daily working or studying routine. I believe this is a
great way to relieve stress and refresh their life.
 put under pressure: đặt dưới áp lực cuộc sống
 relieve stress: giải toả áp lực
 daily working or studying routine: lịch trình làm việc và học
tập hàng ngày

4.2 Mẫu trả lời IELTS Speaking Hobbies Part 2

Discuss your preferred pastime. You should say:
 What exactly is it, exactly?
 Have you been doing this for a long time?
 What kind of company do you have when you’re doing it?
 Also, why is this significant to you?

Sample 2: Music

Well, I have a lot of hobbies to mention, but if I had to pick one, it

would be music. I realized that I had a great passion for music when
I was still a little kid.

My mom saw my talent for quickly remembering the rhythm of every

song that I heard. Therefore, she sent me to a musical academy.
From there, I got a chance to learn how to play guitar and other
instruments such as piano and violin. However, my teacher told me
that I should switch to studying vocal music since he accidentally
heard my singing voice. Since then, I started to develop my innate
potential.

Actually, I have joined many music clubs, and I had my own band. My
friends and I usually performed in acoustic bars on the weekend. To
be honest, we couldn’t rely on it for a living, we absolutely did it for the
purpose of fulfillment.

There are a variety of reasons why music is an indispensable part of

my life. Firstly, it’s the time when I can live “the real me”. Normally, I
find it hard to display my feelings or give my opinions, and music is
the only thing that can help me to express and arouse my emotions
in a way that words alone cannot.

Moreover, music is important to me just simply because it’s a form of

enjoyment. An upbeat song can lift my mood while a slow ballad can
heal my soul from depression. I also find it delightful to play music
with a group of friends. It literally has no language or age barriers.
I’m in love with how amazing music can connect people regardless of
their backgrounds.
 had a great passion for: có niềm đam mê lớn cho điều gì
 rhythm: giai điệu
 musical academy: học viên âm nhạc
 instruments: nhạc cụ
 vocal music: thanh nhạc
 innate potential: tiềm năng bẩm sinh
 fulfillment: sự thoả mãn
 indispensable: không thể thiếu
 display my feelings: bày tỏ cảm xúc
 express and arouse my emotions: thể hiện và khơi gợi cảm
xúc
 lift my mood: vực dậy tâm trạng
 heal my soul: chữa lành tâm hồn
 delightful: vui sướng
 language or age barriers: rào cản về ngôn ngữ và độ tuổi
4.3 Mẫu trả lời chủ đề hobby IELTS speaking Part 3
Do you believe that men and women have distinct hobbies?

Sure, I’m with that idea. Men and women have pretty much different
preferences. Males tend to prefer extreme sports and demanding
activities such as racing or scuba diving while females seem to be
keen on sedentary and less intensive activities such as making
handicrafts or cooking.

Physical condition also contributes to this difference. For example,

rock climbing or wrestling may be too daunting for most women.
However, there are still some exceptions. It could be a man who loves
to cook or a woman who likes to become a bodybuilder
Mẫu trả lời IELTS Speaking Hobbies Part 3
 preferences: sở thích
 extreme sports: thể thao cảm giác mạnh
 demanding activities: các hoạt động mạnh, khó khăn
 sedentary: nhàn hạ, thụ động
 handicrafts: đồ thủ công
 Physical condition: điều kiện thể chất
 rock climbing: leo núi đá
 bodybuilder: vận động viên thể hình

Why do some people become enamored with their hobbies?

Well, I think every one of us is passionate about one thing. And at a

higher level, when people demonstrate effort, ambition, and
determination in practicing their hobby, they may indulge in it.

Another reason is that many hobbies now become competitions. As a

result, some people may find it intriguing, so they seek a sense of
satisfaction when winning a game over other people. At this point, a
pastime turns into a desire to overcome their own limits.
 is passionate about: đam mê một cái gì đó
 effort: sự cố gắng
 ambition: hoài bão
 determination: sự quyết tâm
 indulge: say mê, đắm chìm
 intriguing: thú vị, hấp dẫn
 sense of satisfaction: cảm giác thỏa mãn
 overcome their own limits: vượt qua giới hạn của họ

Do you believe that hobbies that keep you fit are preferable to
hobbies that you can do while sitting?

No, I don’t buy that idea. Every pastime has its own values, and
people can experience them as a form of enjoyment in different ways.
Therefore, it is absurd to compare one to another. For example, even
though reading books doesn’t involve too many movements, lots of
people find it intriguing. They claim that reading book helps them to
live not only their own life but also the lives of other people, which is
such a great experience. Or people who are into music may argue that
they prefer it since it can help to heal the pains in their souls and
make their life more meaningful.
 values: giá trị
 absurd: nực cười, ngớ ngẩn
 intriguing: thú vị, hấp dẫn
 heal the pains in their souls: chữa lành vết thương trong tâm
hồn
 meaningful: có ý nghĩa

I attended a public school for my education from preschool to sixth

grade. During my time, it was the best and most well-known primary
school.

2. Did you go to a co-educational school?

I did, actually. I have fond memories of that institution. I made many

new pals, both male and female.

3. What was your most favorite subject when you were a kid?

When I was young, I enjoyed math a lot. I consistently performed well

on mathematics examinations.

4. Who was your favorite teacher?

My Math teacher, Mr. Thong. By getting us involved in a variety of

activities correlated with our subjects, he made every class interesting
and entertaining. The activities were fun for my classmates and me.

5. Where do you study now?

I studied in Foreign Trade University. It is located in Ha Noi.

6. What’s your university/college like?

It is among the top colleges in my nation. It features a sizable campus

with around 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students of business-
related majors.
7. What do you study in university?

I study business administration. For someone with my level of

business savvy, this training is quite ideal.

8. What is special about your major?

Basically, it has a lot to do with how corporate operations are

managed. Since it deals with technology, the economics, international
competitions, and developing markets, it is relevant and of societal
significance.

2. Part 2 IELTS Speaking: Chủ đề

Education
Describe your favorite subject at school (Mô tả môn học bạn yêu
thích ở trường)
You should say:
 When and where you started studying it
 What lessons were like
 What is special about this subject
 and explain why you enjoyed the subject

Bài mẫu 1:
English is one of my favorite subjects. This is a compulsory subject for students
from grade 3 and above. Today, English is more and more popular, so English is
a very important subject and must be learned. English brings us many
opportunities.

Firstly, fluent in English helps me communicate with foreigners and tourists,

therefore helping me to know many different cultures around the world. With a
passion for English, I was able to watch English movies and listen to English
music without translation. English also opens up job opportunities for everyone. It
will be easy for you to apply for a job you love if you have a high level of English.

Today, English is very important, so this is a subject we should not ignore and
need determination to learn better.
3. Part 3 IELTS Speaking: Chủ đề
Education
Câu 1: Do you think single sex schools are still relevant in
today’s world?

Pretty much, actually. Although many would claim that schools which
exclusively permit either females or males to study can be seen as
somewhat old-fashioned, numerous studies have shown that the
academic performance of single-sex schools tend surpass schools for
all sexes. I think this is because there are fewer distractions and
therefore, students can concentrate much better on their study.

Câu 2: What are the benefits of a boarding school?

As a former student of a boarding school, I can tell there are a lot of

benefits of attending one. In certain nations, kids as young as 8 years
old are sent away to boarding schools, many of which provide lots of
extracurricular activities including golf, photography, and fashion.
Children are not only given a chance to discover their hidden talents
but also an opportunity to make lasting friendships with both their
instructors and peers.

Câu 3: What are the advantages of studying a distance learning

course?

There are several advantages come to my mind immediately.

Distance or remote learning is becoming more relevant these days as
it provides learners a sense of flexibility. Not only is it far less
expensive than attending a university with significant tuition costs, but
it also allows you to study at your own pace. I think many people find
this style of learning more comfortable than attending lectures or
tutorials because it helps to boost their self-discipline and self-
motivation.

Câu 4: How are education priorities today different from those in

the past?

Today's world is changing quickly, and education goals have changed

along with it. I think that education in today's environment creates a
bigger chance for a greater skill set that weren't available before. For
instance, schools and universities now offer more specialized majors
and courses than they did in the past. Modern technology, including
computers and other devices that weren't around in the past, has also
been included in the program .

Câu 5: Is a good education more important to a boy or a girl?

Why?

I think it is equally important for both boys and girls to pursue a good
education. In today's culture, women have repeatedly demonstrated
their ability to handle duties and obtain positions that were previously
solely held by men in a variety of sectors, including politics, science,
athletics while males have started working in certain fields that were
formerly thought to be reserved only for women, like fashion,
housework, and cooking. It is obvious that anyone can only live up to
their fullest potential if given an opportunity regardless of their sex.
3. Tourism

2.1 Do you like to travel? (Bạn có thích đi du lịch?)

Absolutely yes, I am really into exploring new places not only in Vietnam but
also in many parts of the world. In other words, I am fond of globe-trotting
which allows me to delve into various kinds of culture and wind down after
working long hours.

2.2 Where do you like to travel to? (Bạn thích đi du

lịch ở đâu?)
Actually, there is no specific place to which I’d love to go. Instead, I usually
travel on a whim with unplanned trips and with random people. This means
that I always go on a trip to another place after 1 or 2 days of suddenly
coming up with an idea, and I will go with a random friend or relative that I
may think of.

2.3 Do you prefer to travel alone or on a tour? (Bạn thích đi du lịch một
mình hay theo tour?)

To tell the truth, traveling on a tour may help sort out all potential problems,
but I prefer doing everything by myself. Thus, going somewhere alone is a
better option by which I am free to go and stop at will or choose my own
itinerary.

cho chủ đề Talk about travel
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 2: Talk about travel
Describe a trip that you remember well You should say: → Where you went
to → Who you went with → What you did during the trip And why you
remember it well

5 years ago, when I was studying in Belgium, I had a chance to travel to a

very small country which I had been dreaming of going to – Luxembourg.

It was just a whimsical decision when I was having some days off not going
to school at all. Before that, I had heard about this tiny little nation which is
located in the southern part of Belgium. It was rumored that this nation was
marvelous in terms of landscapes, prosperity and hospitality. Then I booked a
train ticket on an app and packed everything I needed to go there. At that
time, I was so eager and a bit scared since that was the first time I traveled
somewhere alone.
It took me about 3 hours to get to Luxembourg and I stopped at the main gas
station. After that, I just took a stroll around to see if things were different
from Belgian cities. Since Belgium and Luxembourg are both European
countries and are situated adjacent to each other, their architecture is very
much alike, however, Luxembourg boasts wonderful sceneries of ancient
castles. To tell the truth, I was stunned since I could witness the construction
of castles almost everywhere, and they had been used to operate companies
or abbies where people produced beer or other products.

The main language used there was French and luckily I could speak a bit so it
was quite a smooth experience. I used the language in communication to buy
souvenirs and specialties there. And the reason why this trip really ingrains in
my memory is that it was an eye-opening chance for me to undergo all
procedures and steps in traveling across borders in European countries. If I
have another chance of coming back here, I will definitely visit some
museums there since I didn’t really have much time exploring them.

Và lý do khiến

4. Các câu hỏi thường gặp & đáp án mẫu

cho phần IELTS Speaking Part 3 trong
chủ đề Talk about travel
Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3: Talk about travel

4.1 Do you think that tourism is important for an

economy?
Definitely yes. Nowadays, as globalization has brought the world together,
the movement between countries has been facilitated. Therefore, I find it easy
for anyone to travel to other countries, and this phenomenon has contributed
a great deal to any economy by the money that tourists spend and the
establishments of multinational companies. In other words, it is beneficial for
an economy to have travelers from other countries come and spend on local
products and services, and in some small countries like Singapore, the
economy of the whole country really depends on tourism.

4.2 What are some benefits of traveling? (Một số lợi

ích của việc đi du lịch là gì?)
From my perspective, going to other places for any purpose such as relaxing,
studying or working does wonders for the traveler. The first worth-
mentioning benefit here is that this is a chance for us to explore a whole new
culture, enriching our knowledge and experience. Indeed, the trip helps us
actually immerse ourselves in the real life of local people and perceive things
from our own eyes. Secondly, the more we travel, the more opportunities we
may encounter. What I mean is that we would never know what kind of
chance in business or in studying or even in our marriage that we would
come across. To be more specific, meeting a new business partner or even
our significant other is all possible during the trip.

4.3 What are some disadvantages of traveling? (Một

số bất lợi của việc đi du lịch là gì?)
To my mind, not only does tourism bring benefits to a country, but it also
poses a threat to the environment as well as the local culture. As for the
former, a tremendous amount of trash is dumped each year after travelers
have left a tourist attraction, polluting the local environment or even killing
animals living here. Plastic items or single-use cups, to name a few, spoil the
habitats of animals and pollute water and air. With regard to the culture, the
influx of tourists to the place brings along their alien culture and behaviors,
more or less influencing local people and gradually changing some traditions
and customs of them.

What travel means to you?

Có thể trả lời như sau: For some people, traveling means going to a
new city. On the other hand, some think of it as a way to escape
everyday norms and go on a cross-country road trip. Despite the

experiences.

As an avid traveler, I would love to share with you about the time I
took a 3-day trip to Hoi An ancient town. It is a town situated in
Quang Nam, a central part of Vietnam. If my memory serves me
right, I went to Hoi An 3 years ago during summer vacation with my
group of best friends.
When I first set foot in this place, I was instantly captivated
by the beauty of this place. It is such a charming holiday destination
with breathtaking views and scenic landscapes. We went off-season
so it wasn’t as lively and touristy as usual, but hordes of
tourists flock to this place every year to enjoy its beauty.
The city’s architecture is a harmonious blend of Vietnamese,
Chinese, and Japanese design, so there are a lot of pagodas,
temples, and ancient houses that bear their very unique marks,
which really sets this city apart from any other places in Vietnam.
 Set foot in this place (v): đặt chân đến nơi này.
 Captivated by the beauty of this place (v): bị quyến rũ bởi vẻ

4. Bài mẫu chủ đề Travel/ Holiday - Part 3
Câu hỏi: Do old people and young people choose different
places to go on vacation? Why?
In my opinion, age doesn’t diminish wanderlust, but it sure affects
the way we travel, specifically the way we choose our holiday
destinations.
I think younger people tend to enjoy adventure and having fun, so
they would choose to go to either some tourist traps where there
are a lot of holiday activities, or they could go backpacking
somewhere off the beaten track to satisfy their thirst for
adventure.
As for older people, they definitely prefer relaxation, so they would
just opt for somewhere serene and peaceful to ease their mind,
maybe near a lake or go to churches and pagodas, or something like
that.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Diminish wanderlust (v): hạn chế đam mê du lịch.
 Off the beaten track: những nơi mạo hiểm.
 To ease their mind: làm dịu tâm trí của họ.
Câu hỏi: What are the negative impacts of tourism?
I believe the most detrimental impact of tourism is on the
environment. What I mean is that excessive building, like roads,
hotels or other holiday accommodation, etc. can destroy the natural
habitats and spoil the landscape of the country.
Tourism can also lead to pollution and waste. From a cultural
perspective, local traditions may be lost, and traditional jobs and
skills such as fishing, and farming may die out soon.
 Detrimental impact tác động bất lợi nhất.
 Cultural perspective (n): góc độ văn hóa.
 Die out soon (v): sớm bị mai một.
4. Technology
Câu hỏi: What technology do you often use, computers or

I haven’t picked up any new gadgets, to be honest, because I’m
not much of a tech junkie. However, I’m batting around the
idea of purchasing a new iPhone as my current one is a bit old-
fashioned now.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Pick up (v): Mua
 Tech junkie (n): Người nghiện công nghệ
 Bat around the idea: Cân nhắc đến việc
Câu hỏi: Is there any technology you don’t like?
Actually, I do not dislike any technology as I think technological
breakthroughs all make life much easier and more convenient. For
example, extraordinary inventions such as the washing machine,
dishwasher, and vacuum cleaner significantly reduce the burden
of doing household chores for many people.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Technological breakthroughs (n): Đột phá công nghệ
 The burden of doing household chores (n): Gánh nặng làm việc
nhà

Do you think children should be allowed unsupervised access to the

internet?

I don't really think that's a good idea to be honest. I mean, it's very difficult
for children at that age to distinguish what is appropriate information for
them and what's not. That's why it's easy for them to accidentally expose
themselves to violent or sexual content which can pose a threat to their
mental development.

Vocabulary:
 distinguish: phân biệt
 appropriate information: thông tin phù hợp
 accidentally: vô tình
 violent or sexual content: nội dung mang tính bạo lực và gợi dục
 pose a threat: là một mối đe doạ
 mental development: sự phát triển về mặt tâm lý

I’m going to talk about a piece of technological device which
helps me focus on my study and my work. It is a state-of-the-
art headphone.
When I passed the entrance exam to Language University with
flying colors, my mom gave me this headphone as a
congratulation gift because I really needed it to improve my English.
She took me to an electrical store and made a choice for the latest
model. It was in white and pink color with a long string to connect
to my computer or phone. It is also portable and convenient to
bring in my pocket.
It is so useful that I still use it for many purposes until now. I can
concentrate on my study no matter where I am and how noisy the
surrounding environment is. Only by wearing headphones and
listening to music or English talks, nothing can break my
concentration. For instance, whenever studying in a café, I usually
wear headphones so that I can pay full attention to my study or
my work. Also, thanks to this habit, my English listening skill is
enhanced a lot because I am now more willing to devote hours
each day to practice.
All in all, I will keep it as a treasure and use it more frequently.

it’s a useful means of communication to keep in touch with
my distant relatives. Thanks to the emergence of innovative
applications in mobile phones, I am able to contact my
family regardless of geographic barriers via Facebook,
Facetime, or Instagram. Moreover, I also use phones as a form of
entertainment. To be honest, I’m a huge fan of Zombie plants, a

Câu hỏi: In the future people’s work are heavily affected by
technology. Do advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
Well, the booming advancement in technology can bring about both
positive and negative impacts. In terms of advantages, modern
technologies will significantly boost labor productivity and
workers have good opportunities to work in a professional
environment, which is equipped with state-of-the-art
facilities like robots. However, when the companies or factories are
provided with technological gadgets, it will increase the rate of
unemployment since it can replace blue-collar workers
and hinder the prosperity of the society.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Boost the labor productivity (verb phrase): Tăng cường năng
suất lao động
 Equip with the-state-of-the-art facility (verb phrase): Trang bị
Câu hỏi: It is predicted that in the near future, the technology
will replace the role of the teachers in the classroom. Do the
advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
There is no doubt that the application of technology in the
classroom will result in many positive effects because it broadens
students’ horizons and arouses their interests in learning.
However, I believe that the role of teachers is irreplaceable. Only
by interacting directly with teachers in class, students can gain a
deeper understanding of the lesson. By contrast, I do not
think cutting-edge technology is capable of doing this since it is
programmed by human.

extract materials. We use technology in the communication,
transportation, learning, manufacturing, creating artifacts,
securing data, scaling businesses. Technology is human
knowledge which involves tools, materials and systems.

5. Language Learning
Câu hỏi: What languages do you speak?
My mother tongue/ first language is Vietnamese. Besides, I can

2. Bài mẫu chủ đề Language - Speaking Part
2
Câu hỏi: Describe a language other than English that you
would like to learn.
I would like to tell you about a language that I’ve always wanted to learn,
which is Chinese.

As for my plan to learn this language, I think next month I will attend
an elementary course on Chinese. However, since I am having a nine-to-
five job at the moment, I will need to look for a center which offers night
classes for its learners.
Moving on to the next point which is where this language is spoken. Actually,
Chinese is spoken not only in China but also in many other countries such as
the US or the UK by oversea Chinese. In fact, Chinese is the most widely
spoken language in the world (it is estimated that Chinese is spoken by more
than 1 billion people all over the world).

Regarding the reasons why I would like to learn Chinese, it is mainly due to
the similarity between Chinese and Vietnamese. You know, in the past,
Vietnam was under Chinese influence in approximately one thousand years,
thus there are numerous Chinese loanwords in Vietnamese language. For
that reason, it would be easier for me to learn Chinese than someone whose
native language is completely different.

Another reason should be the fact that studying Chinese will help brighten
my career paths. You know, today, trade ties between Vietnam and China
have become stronger, so employers in Vietnam tend to prioritize
applicants who have a good command of Chinese.

For those reasons, I will manage time effectively to start learning

Chinese.
Câu hỏi: Describe the reasons that make you learn foreign
languages
For the better part of the last decades, a tidal wave of major
enterprises around the world have been coming to Vietnam and I
believe English would be an essential precondition for anyone
to land a job in such organizations. That’s why I chose English as
my major at college.
I always have a love of exploring different cultures and I believe that
learning a new language is learning a new culture. I’m actually
thinking of learning Chinese simply because I want to gain deeper
insights into Chinese culture.
Well, I learned Korean just because I idolized DBSK – a five-member
boy band in South Korea. I was desperate to understand what my
idols were singing. Ironically, later on, when I was
finally proficient in Korean, I realized that they were singing
Japanese songs.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 for the better part of something (prepositional phrase): phần
lớn (thời gian)
 a tidal wave of somebody/ something (noun phrase): rất nhiều

 ironically (adv): trớ trêu thay
 proficient in something (adj): thành thạo

Câu hỏi: Do you want to become a foreign language teacher
in the future? Why?
That thought has crossed my mind once or twice but I’ve
never visualized myself as a full-time teacher. A part-time job, yes.
A professional one, not likely. Being a legitimate teacher in my
country requires certain academic degrees and credentials to be
able to convey knowledge and improvise in class. In my case, I’ve
never attended any special training in teaching or have
any pedagogical skills; therefore, I don’t have much confidence in
handling difficult situations in class. Besides, you have to reach a
high level of language proficiency to make sure that whatever
you say is trustworthy and credible.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 to cross my mind (verb phrase): ý nghĩa thoáng qua
 to visualize: hình tượng ra
 legitimate (adj): hợp pháp
 credentials (noun): chứng chỉ
 to convey the knowledge: truyền đạt kiến thức
 to improvise (verb): ứng biển
 pedagogical (adj): thuộc về sư phạm

Câu hỏi: Why is there a strong demand for language skills?
The world has become more interconnected than ever and cross-
border communication is not only a demand but also a determining
factor in strengthening bonds among countries and people,
economically and politically. Therefore, understanding each other’s,
verbally or nonverbally, is crucial. Furthermore, languages are
valuable assets when it comes to traveling and experiencing. If you
are bilingual or multilingual, you can roam around other parts of
the world with great ease and your whole journey will be
transformed miraculously.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 interconnected (adj): kết nối với nhau
 cross-border (adj): xuyên biên giới
 asset: tài sản
 bilingual (adj): song ngữ
 multilingual (adj): đa ngôn ngữ
 roam (verb): dạo chơi, du lịch
Câu hỏi: What is the difference between talking over the
phone and face-to-face conversation?
While talking on the phone is more convenient, in-person
conversations seem more efficient and productive in terms of
getting the message across. It might be a bit difficult to convey a full
range of emotions when conversing through an electronic device
because words and intonation are the only means. By contrast, with
face-to-face communication, people can use eye contact, facial
expression, and body gesture to make sure their verbal and non-
verbal messages are correctly perceived. That’s why
misunderstanding is less likely to happen when people meet and
talk in person.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 in-person conversation (noun): cuộc trò chuyện gián tiếp
 eye contact (verb): giao tiếp bằng mắt
 facial expression (noun): nét mặt
 body gesture (noun): cử chỉ cơ thể

6. Media
Câu hỏi: Do you think you or your friends use too much social
media?
To be honest, some of us can be said to be addicted to the virtual
space/the delusion life since we usually glue our eyes to the
screen all day long without even trying to exercise, which is an
alarming issue for teenagers these days. The reason for that is
because online content is very sensational/ audience catching and
I think that we are the main targeted audience of them.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Virtual space: không gian ảo
 Delusion life: sống ảo
 Addicted (verb): bị nghiện
 Content (noun): nội dung
 Sensational (adj), audience catching: kỳ lạ, giật gân, câu view

Câu hỏi: What is the most popular social media platform in
Vietnam?
Well, when it comes to the most well-known application/ online
platform, Facebook would ranks first without a doubt because it
provides a lot of information, which is suitable for people of all ages.
Nonetheless, it is anticipated that Tiktok will take over the throne
of Facebook, to be the prominent network in the future because it
offers a plethora of short videos, which meets the entertainment
needs of young people without wasting time watching long ones.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Anticipated: dự đoán, phỏng đoán
 Take over: chiếm lại vị trí, soán ngôi
 Prominent: nổi tiếng
 Plethora: rất nhiều
Câu hỏi: Do you want to work in social media? Why?
Depending on what kinds of jobs relating to social media we’re
talking about. If you asked me whether I would entertain the
idea of becoming an influencer on Tiktok or Instagram, I might say
yes. However, if it’s something to do with technology, coding, or
marketing, I would say no because they’re not really my thing.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Entertain the idea of: giải trí với
 Something to do with: điều gì đó liên quan đến
 Not really my thing: không thực sự là thứ của tôi
2. Bài mẫu chủ đề Media/ Social Network -
IELTS Speaking Part 2
Câu hỏi: Describe a time you saw something interesting on
social media
It may sound depressing to some, but social media takes up 70% of
my time every day. I have all sorts of social platforms on my
phone, and I am frequently present online. The reason why I’m
so attached to social media is partly due to tons of intriguing
things up there. Nonetheless, if I have to choose, that one time
when I found out about tarot reading will be the most unforgettable.
This discovery of mine occurred quite a while ago, probably during
one of the very first lockdowns in Hanoi. At that time, I was stuck in
the house all day experiencing the repeated ‘studying, eating,
sleeping’ cycle. Nonetheless, that period did give me plenty of time
to arrange my thoughts and reflect on myself.
I remembered having so many questions for myself that I suffered
from sleepless nights trying to figure out a solution or an answer to
my problems. I knew that I needed help since I myself could not
solve my problems. Coincidentally, at that time, reading tarot
cards rose as a trend on Youtube- an online video sharing platform.
Everyone was talking about this young woman who identified herself
as a Tarot reader/healer, and her account was Chi de Papillon.
Chi performed tarot reading sections on her channel and gave
advice regarding love life, financial status, future prediction, etc,
based on the cards she pulled out from different tarot decks. At
first, I gave her videos a try for pure curiosity, whereas her
interpretations were significantly accurate and connected with my
life problems. I was in awe and became obsessed with her sections
as they were so useful and motivated as well.
Chi’s videos really get me out of boredom during
3 consecutive months of quarantine. Her video makes me realize
that reading tarot is undoubtedly an art, and the readers are all
great artists.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Take up (phrasal verb): chiếm (bao nhiêu phần)

 Social platforms (noun phrase): các nền tảng mạng xã hội

giải bài

 Give something a try (idiom): thử làm gì
 Pure curiosity (expression): đơn thuần là vì tò mò
 Accurate (adj): chính xác
 Get somebody out of boredom (idiom): giúp ai thoát khỏi buồn
chán
 Consecutive (adj): liên tục
 Be in awe (idiom): bất ngờ
3. Bài mẫu chủ đề Media/ Social Network -
Speaking Part 3
Câu hỏi: Do large media organizations have too much
influence?
In this era of rapid technological development, I think media
organizations show their dominance on almost all social networks.
They exert a large influence on youngsters because their exposure
to the Internet is getting more frequent, and with this, their
exposure to improper content is also increasing. For example, my
little cousins are allowed to use youtube so early that sometimes
they use offensive words they’ve picked up from YouTubers when
they are talking to adults.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Dominance (n): sự thống trị, vị thế
 Exert on (v): gây nên (sức ảnh hưởng,...)
 Exposure to (n): sự tiếp xúc
 Improper (a): không đúng, không phù hợp
 Offensive (a): phản cảm, có tính xúc phạm
Câu hỏi: What kind of news do teenagers like to read? How
about the old?
To be honest, I do not have the foggiest ideas about what types
of content teenagers fancy nowadays, as my circle of friends is
mostly composed of young adults. Maybe their tastes and interests
have altered, compared to me when I was in my teenage years. But
if I have to make an assumption, teen girls often find delight
in articles regarding beauty, fashion trends and celebrities, while
young boys are prone to reading news about sports and their
favorite athletes.
As for the elderly, since they are more health-conscious, articles
regarding aging and health would definitely be at the top of their
list. They always wish to know how to spot the signs and symptoms
of different diseases, and of course, how to tackle them, so that
aging wouldn’t become a nightmare.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Not having the foggiest idea: không biết một chút gì
 Fancy (v): yêu thích
 Circle of friends (v): vòng tròn/ các mối quan hệ bạn bè
 Alter (v): thay đổi
 Find delight in s.th: thích thú cái gì
 Be prone to s.th: có thiên hướng, nghiêng về cái gì
 Health-conscious (adj): có ý thức bảo vệ sức khoẻ
 Be at the top of the list: là ưu tiên hàng đầu
Câu hỏi: What’s the difference between news on TV and news
in magazines?
The major difference is that the content on TV is current news and
developments on ongoing issues in the world, with each news is
often broadcasted within a few minutes. Magazines, on the other
hand, have specific content such as fashion, medicine or sports, with
longer articles as it may include the author’s criticism and remarks.
Another discrepancy I can think of is the frequency of
publication. TV news is broadcasted frequently, and is already
scheduled in advance for each and every day while magazines do
not have to be published that regularly, with some even being
published after a span of 3 months, 6 months or even a year.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Discrepancy (n): sự khác biệt
 Frequency of publication (n): tần suất xuất bản

Câu hỏi: Do you think this festival will still be as important in

the future?
Yes, I believe that despite how our lives are changing, Tet will
continue to be an essential traditional festival in my country
because it is more like a time for reunions, to reflect on what has
happened and prepare for new beginnings, and most importantly,
an occasion to enjoy ourselves, recharge our

suppose more national days off from work would be required.
However, I am still unable to come up
with another legitimate Vietnamese official holiday.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Fast-paced (adj): nhanh
 To come up with (v): nghĩ ra
 Legitimate (adj): chính đáng, hợp lý
Câu hỏi: What are some forms of traditional dancing in your
country?
One of the unique traditional dances in my country is Southern Lion
Dance, which means “mua lan”. It originated from China. Lion Dance
is usually performed in the Mid–Autumn Festival and Lunar New
Year. As an art, Southern Lion Dance has its principles and rules.
A Lion dance usually lasts from 20 to 25 minutes. A lion dance
cannot lack the Earth God which means “Ong Dia”. A Southern Lion
Dance performance is very animated with instruments such
as drums, firecrackers. It is really interesting. It is performed to
welcome good things and wipe out all bad things.

2. Ý tưởng trả lời Culture IELTS Speaking Part

Câu hỏi: Describe a traditional product in your country
I’d love to talk about rice, the most important agricultural plant in
my country.
Ever since I was in my early elementary years, the rice plant has
appeared in almost every subject, from literature to natural science
to geography. And even in real life, the rice plant can be spotted all
across the countryside around Vietnam.
It never ceases to amaze me how such a simple plant could
support a whole nation’s economy. Up to this day, millions of
Vietnamese families are still dependent on the cultivation of rice
to make ends meet. And the fact that Vietnam has become one of
the world’s leading rice exporters is more solid proof of
the relevance of this plant in my country. Besides this, rice has
been an indispensable part of the main meal of most families for
centuries and children practice the habit of eating rice from a very
young age, and as for the older generation, they cannot go a day
without rice in some form or another.
Over thousands of years, the rice plant has played a really
important role in Vietnamese culture and many traditions
and ceremonies originate from the farmers' hopes for
an abundant crop, and many of these traditions are considered
important established customs to foreign visitors. I think that the
rice plant has become one of the greatest symbols for the
Vietnamese spirit and deserves large appreciation from all
generations.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Spot (v.): xuất hiện
 Never ceases to amaze me: không bao giờ hết ngạc nhiên

 Ceremony (n.): lễ kỷ niệm
 An abundant crop: vụ mùa bội thu
3. Ý tưởng trả lời Culture IELTS Speaking Part

Câu hỏi: What are the advantages and disadvantages of
cultural diversity?
I think we can evaluate on an individual and collective or
organizational level. Regarding each individual, being exposed to
a culturally diverse setting would broaden one’s perspective and
knowledge of the world, he or she would be more open-minded and
understanding towards different viewpoints or mindsets. On the
other hand, personal identity could be adversely affected by
diversity, since one might find it hard to adopt a way of life when
there’s too many. In terms of community or society, diversity makes
this world more interesting, more multifaceted, people have more
things to discover and learn. However, differences in mindset could
easily lead to disagreement, which could escalate into tension.
Throughout the history of the world, there have been many conflicts
stemming from cultural, racial or ethnic differences.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Culturally diverse setting: bối cảnh đa dạng về văn hóa
 Mindset: tư duy
 Personal identity: danh tính cá nhân
 Cultural: thuộc văn hóa
 Racial: chủng tộc:
 Ethnic: dân tộc
Câu hỏi: What do you think is the best way to learn foreign
culture?
I personally think that the best way to learn foreign culture is
reading, especially news about what’s going on in that country.
People tend to only Google “What is the culture of x country”, go
through a few travel articles then call it a day. Of course any
amount of reading is good, but those articles can only provide a
fleeting glance, and can even be very stereotypical. So I think
reading news can help put those knowledge into context, like, it
would help you to really understand how those customs and
cultural norms are affecting the people there, and I think it is
sometimes even more beneficial than traveling to a country, staying
in a fancy hotel for a few days and then call it “learning”.
 A fleeting glance (n): một cái nhìn tổng quan
 Stereotypical (adj): rập khuôn
 Customs and cultural norms (n): các phong tục và chuẩn mực

Câu hỏi: What social problems are there in your country?
Well, as far as I’m concerned, there’s a couple of pressing
problems my country is grappling with. First and foremost, the
on-going Covid-19 pandemic has led to an unprecedented
unemployment rate, pushing many people onto skid row, and
by extension, a surge in crime rates. I mean, more people are likely
to commit crimes, such as robberies, to survive. Unfortunately,
Irrespective of various forms of social distancing and lockdowns,
Vietnam is still having such a hard time dealing with these
problems.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Pressing problems: các vấn đề cấp bách
 Grapple with: vật lộn giải quyết
 First and foremost: trước nhất
 Unprecedented (adj.): chưa từng có
 Push someone onto skid row: đẩy ai vào cảnh nghèo khó
 Surge (n.): sự tăng nhanh
 Have a hard time + Ving: gặp khó khăn khi làm việc gì
4. What holiday or festival has become more
popular in Vietnam recently?
In recent years, due to the emergence of exotic culture, holidays like
Christmas and Valentine’s Day have grown in popularity. However, I would
argue that these holidays and festivals are
more commercialized because businesspeople put a lot of work into
gaining more clients well in advance of these holidays.
Anyway, regardless of religion or anything else, Vietnamese people always
want to take advantage of this chance to unwind and have fun.

 Emergence (n): sự xuất hiện

 Exotic culture (n): văn hóa ngoại lai
 To be commercialized (v): được thương mại hóa
 Businesspeople (n): doanh nhân

a while to maintain bonds and let off some steam.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Get together (phrasal verb): Tụ họp

are indispensable. As the saying goes, “A friend in need is a friend

2. Bài mẫu chủ đề Family & Friends -
Speaking Part 2
Câu hỏi: Describe a time when you felt proud of a family
member.
I want to share with you the moment my mother made the decision
to launch her own business. Even though my mother is now in her
forties, she remains attractive. She is a mother who constantly
looks out for her kids and is incredibly compassionate, kind, and
attentive. She is both a mother and a friend to me since she always
offers me sage advice and is ready to support me through all of
the highs and lows in my life. She is such a strong-willed person,
which is why I am so proud of her.
Since my grandparents were often on the go, she had to learn how
to deal with difficulties on her own from a young age. I imagine that
her difficult childhood helped to shape who she is now. While she
was in her forties, she made the decision that she wanted to operate
her own clothing boutique. As we all believed it was a pretty bad
idea because she would face a lot of competition from
other surrounding shops, all of the family members attempted to
prevent her from doing it.
Yet thanks to her tenacity and endurance, she was able to
succeed in building her company, which is an example for us all to
follow. and I keep telling myself to strive to be as resilient as my
mother, a true “wonder woman,” every day.

 Tenacity (a): Tính ngoan cường, tính kiên trì
 Endurance (n): Sức chịu đựng
 Resilient (a): Sôi nổi; không hay chán nản, không hay nản lòng
Câu hỏi: Talk about your best friend
Anna comes to me as my closest buddy when I think about it. We go
back a long way. In fact, we've been buddies since my freshman
year of college. To this day, I recall well the first time I met her in
grammar class. At first, I mistook her for a chatty and impolite
young lady. However, as I got to know Anna better, I found she was
a really likable person with whom I shared many interests.
Anna and I are polar opposites in terms of personality. While she
is kind and tolerant, I am somewhat irritable and reserved. Anna
can easily strike up a conversation with everyone she meets for
the first time. As different as our personalities are, we agree on a lot
of things, including marriage, job, and life perspectives.
Anna is my best buddy for several reasons. First and foremost, she
respects and loves me for who I am. Second, despite her demanding
schedule, she is always prepared to provide a sympathetic ear if I
am experiencing difficulties or feeling demotivated.

3. Bài mẫu chủ đề Family & Friends -
Speaking Part 3
Câu hỏi: In what ways have families in your country changed
in recent?
The roles of husbands and wives have changed in recent years.
Both spouses have been more open to perform different roles, such
as seizing various job opportunities or being more involved in the
household. Another change, I think, is the trend to have less
children. Parents nowadays think of having smaller families due to
high cost of living and career perspectives.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Spouse (n): Vợ chồng
 Involved in the household: Tham gia vào công việc nhà
 Career perspectives (n): Triển vọng nghề nghiệp
Câu hỏi: Which are more important to you: your family or
your friends?
Both are fairly important, but my family takes place in my life that
is dear to my heart. Friends may come and go, but I know that
my family will always be there for me, no matter what happens in
my life and no matter what decisions I take. Nevertheless, my
friends are the closest people with whom I can share and
discuss things that sometimes are not appropriate to bring up in
the family circle.
Vocabulary ghi điểm:
 Dear to sb’s heart: Là nơi thân thương với ai
 Come and go: Đến rồi đi
 Closest people: Những người gần gũi nhất
 Share and discuss things: Chia sẻ và thảo luận mọi thứ
 Bring up in the family circle: Đề cập đến trong phạm vi gia đình
Do you spend much time with your family?
00:00 / 00:17s

I spend a lot of time with my family members. This is because I consider

family to be extremely important and I want to be able to maintain a good
relationship with them. I'd feel really guilty if I neglected my family!
Who are you closest to in your family?
00:00 / 00:14s

That person is my mom. She really gets me and is patient enough to listen to
what I want to say. I feel like she's the person I can connect with on such a
deep level.
Do you prefer spending time with your family or friends?
00:00 / 00:19s

It's definitely my family. Don't get me wrong, spending time with my friends
is fun and all but family is just much more important than casual friendships.
I can definitely live without a friend but I can't live without my family
members.
Are you still friends with people from your childhood?
00:00 / 00:15s

Not really. I mean, we kinda grew apartand we didn’t really have the chance
to keep in touch. I’d love to get back in touch with them though because they
used to be such nice friends!
Is family important in your country?
00:00 / 00:16s
Definitely. It's one of the things that people here value a lot and prioritise in
their lives, which is a good thing in my opinion. Only when you have strong
families can you build a strong society.
3.1 In what ways have families in your country changed in
recent?

The roles of husbands and wives have changed in recent years.

Both spouses have been more open to perform different roles, such
as seizing various job opportunities or being more involved in the
household. Another change, I think, is the trend to have less
children. Parents nowadays think of having smaller families due to
high cost of living and career perspectives.

3.2 Should husbands and wives have different roles within

the family? Why (not)?

Traditionally, husbands and wives had had clear-cut roles in society.

Husbands used work and fulfill financial needs of the family, while
women were expected to take care of the house. Changes had
occurred over time and both husbands and wives started to take
part in each of these roles. I think this change is rather positive. It is
not necessary to sharply define each role. I reckon, whatever role
family members take, they should always move in the same
direction and pursue what is best for the family itself.

3.3 Which are more important to you: your family or your

friends?

Both are fairly important, but my family takes place in my life that
is dear to my heart. Friends may come and go, but I know that my
family will always be there for me, no matter what happens in my
life and no matter what decisions I take. Nevertheless, my friends
are the closest people with whom I can share and discuss
things that sometimes are not appropriate to bring up in the family
circle.
