Version-I: ANTI-RAGGING cum DISCIPLINE POLICY
The Anti Ragging cum Discipline Committee, a staff council committee will function to
maintain discipline and order in the campus. The committee will work towards creating a safe,
respectful, and conducive learning environment for all students. The Anti-Ragging and
Discipline Committee will have the following objectives:
e Anti-Ragging measures to provide safe environment to all newly admitted students
• Develop and maintain an orderly environment promoting a constructive academic
atmosphere supporting academic pursuits and personal growth.
• Cultivate Self-Discipline and Responsibility in students
e Prevent Physical Confrontations and conflicts among students.
• Investigate reports of indiscipline and recommend exemplary actions against students
involved in indiscipline to set a precedent.
e Promote ethical behaviour and good conduct among students.
e Enhance Self-Management and Leadership in students fostering a responsible and
proactive student community.
Anti-ragging Policy
The college strictly follows the policy of zero tolerance to ragging. The campus will be strictly
made completely free of ragging with zero incidents of ragging. The committee will meet
regularly to devise newer mechanisms for maintaining a peaceful and harmonious environment
in college and absolute cordiality among students coming from diverse socio-economic and
cultural backgrounds.
Steps to be taken to Prevent Ragging
• All the new students will be informed about the Anti-Ragging Committee, Anti
Ragging Squad, and Ordinance XV-B (maintenance of Discipline among Students of

the University); XV-C (Prohibition of and Punishment for Ragging) on the Orientation
Day of the new academic session.
e An Anti-ragging squad of faculty members constituted at the beginning of every
academic session will take rounds in college campus to ensure a cordial and conducive
environment for the newly admitted students.
e Anti-ragging posters will be put up at prominent places on campus to spread
awareness as well as to keep check on incidents of ragging after the commencement of
academic session.
• The names, contact numbers and email ids of the anti-ragging committee members
will be prominently displayed on the college notice board and on the website of the
college .
• A complaint box will be in place at a visible and strategic location inside the college
premises
• The students will be directed at the start of each academic year to adhere to and desist
from any kind of ragging in the college premises through prospectus, college and
departmental orientation programs.
Forms of Ragging:
Display of noisy, disorderly conduct, teasing, excitement by rough or rude treatment or
handling, including rowdy, undisciplined activities which cause or likely to cause annoyance,
undue hardship, physical or psychological harm or raise apprehensive fear in a fresher, or
asking the students to do any act or perform something which such a student will not do in the
ordinary course and which causes him/her shame or embarrassment or danger to his/her life,
etc are all considered forms of ragging.
Punishment for Participation in/or Abetment of Ragging
Following Punishments as recommended by the committee may be given to the individuals
for Participation in/or Abetment of Ragging:
• Cancellation of admission from the college.
e Suspension from attending lectures and practical.
e Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.

e Debarring from appearing in any Internal/semester-end examination or other
evaluation process.
e Withholding results oflnternal /semester end examination ofthe college.
e Debarring from representing the college in any national or international meet,
competition/tournament, youth festival, etc.
e Suspension/expulsion from the college.
e Rustication from the institution for periods varying from 1 to 4 semesters or
equivalent period.
e Expulsion from the college and consequent debarring from admission to any other
college/institution.
Policy for maintaining Discipline
Regarding discipline it is an utmost requirement that each student must act and behave in a
manner befitting a student of this esteemed institution even when outside college campus. The
student will be required to abide by the Ordinance XV-B, XV-C, XV-D (http://www.du.ac.in)
of the University of Delhi. The discipline committee of the college may impose a fine or in
cases of gross indiscipline, expel/ rusticate a student. The College will strictly be a smoke-free,
alcohol and drug free zone. Any defacement/damage/misuse of college property as well as
common resources of the college will be dealt with extreme seriousness. All such acts will
invite disciplinary action/ punishment/ penalty/ suspension/ rustication or even forwarding of
the offence for legal action with the police.
Grievance Redressal System will be a vital part ofthe functioning ofthe Discipline Committee.
The college will follow the following mechanism for grievances received:
e The grievances/complaints received by the Principal will be forwarded to the Discipline
Committee.
e A meeting will be scheduled by the Convener to discuss the issue depending upon the
seriousness of the issue.
e The complainant and the accused student/s will be summoned (along with parents if
required) to present their case.
e Detailed deliberations and discussions will be held in order to arrive at a fair decision.

e The Committee will decide and recommend the nature and quantum of punishment if
any depending on the nature and seriousness of the offence.
e The Committee will prepare and submit its detailed report to the Principal duly
considering all factors related to the case/complaint.
• The complainant and the accused student/s will be subsequently informed about the
decision/punitive action ifany recommended by the Committee through the Principal.
e The student guilty will be allowed to join college after completing the period of
punishment (in case of suspension) only after production of an affidavit duly signed by
the student and his/her parents.
e During the DUSU Elections, the discipline committee will prepare a detailed schedule
and duty roster for faculty members to prevent any untoward incident during campaign
and canvassing. The faculty members scheduled for a particular day will be present
from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in the college and ensure absolute decorum and non
violence during visits by prospective candidates.
e The committee will ensure that the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee are
followed both in form and spirit during the students' election period.
e The committee in conjunction with the Students Union Advisory Committee will
ensure free and fair Elections of both DUSU and college union every year.
e The Committee will also actively participate in maintenance of discipline on other
important occasions like Fresher's Welcome, college annual festival, Annual prize
distribution function and Farewell etc. working in absolute coordination with the
Students' Union Advisory Committee and college Event management and Functions
Committee.
