Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL)

This MMEL is developed by Airbus Helicopters and approved by

EASA, FAA (or other National Aviation Authority).
It determines:
• the minimum equipment necessary to fly in accordance with the
specific operating conditions,
• an acceptable level of safety,
• limitation on duration and condition with inoperative items.

All items related to the airworthiness and the operational regulations

of the aircraft not listed on the MMEL shall must be operative.
In accordance with specific mission regulation, the operator must
define the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) to be accepted by
National Aviation Authorities (MEL at least as restrictive as the
MMEL).

Notes:
• the MMEL is now available in an electronic version (on H160 for
example),
• on Helionix equipped helicopters, the MMEL can also be entered
by master list messages/clearance tests page or by dispatch
page messages.

Maintenance Steering Group (MSG)

MSG is an analytic methodology developed for operators to improve

the cost-effectiveness of maintenance.
Beginning MSG-1 in 1968, the MSG-3 method has been applied to
H175 and H160 development.
The MSG-3, is presented into the maintenance review board for
approval.
The maintenance review board includes members of EASA, FAA,
TCCA… and participation of operators.

Maintenance review board is a process used on new AH helicopters

(H175, H160…) for the elaboration and the certification of the
scheduled maintenance (Maintenance Review Board Report
(MRBR)).
The MRBR tasks are grouped only into the MSM chapter 05 (time
limits and scheduled maintenance).
