I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards Develop an understanding of the
basic parts of a computer system and
how they work together to perform
simple tasks.
B. Performance Standards Create a simple drawing of a computer
system, labeling at least five key parts
(e.g., monitor, keyboard, mouse, CPU,
speaker), and explain in their own words
what each part does to help the computer
work.
C. Learning Competencies 1. Identify the parts of a

MOTIVATION(Motive - Do you have a computer at home? - Yes ma’am. (Some students)
Question/Game)(Elicit) - Have you seen or used a computer
before? - Yes ma’am.
- While using the computer, do you know
what each part is called and what are the
functions of it? - Some of it ma’am.
- So now, are you excited to know every
part and function of a computer system? - Yes ma’am.
- Why are you excited? - Because I want to understand how my
computer work and how can I fix them if
they break.
- Okay. So now, all eyes on the screen.

1. Identify the parts of a computer system.
2. Describe the function of each part.
3. Explain how the parts work together to
perform computing tasks.
- okay. Thank you.
- Since we already know the things that
you should achieve after our discussion,
we will now start.
- First, we need to know what is
computer. So, let us read what is
computer. A computer is an electronic device that can
store, process, and communicate
information.
- So, the three main thing that a computer
can do is to store, process, and
communicate.
- So, what are the things that a computer
can keep or store? - a computer can store information, like
files, pictures, and documents.
- Ok. Good. Computer also process
information which means it can perform
calculations, make decisions, and execute
instructions. It can also communicate
information, which means it can send and
receive to and from other devices.
- Is everything clear now? - Yes ma’am.
- Ok. Now, let’s go on to the computer
system and it’s part.
- What is a computer system? - A computer system is a collection of
hardware and software components that
work together to perform specific tasks.
- So, what is a hardware and software
components? HARDWARE COMPONENTS:
Refers to the physical parts of a computer
system that can be touched and seen.

SOFTWARE COMPONENTS:
Refers to the programs, operating systems,
and applications that run on a computer
system.

- Can you give an example of hardware

and software that you know? Based on
the definition that you gave, what is the - Example of hardware is keyboard,

- The example of it is game installed in the

- Ok. How about in software.

- Ok. Very Good! The things you

mentioned are some of the parts of a - A little bit ma’am.
computer system. Do you know its
function?
- Ok. Now, let us know the parts and
function of the computer system.
- In hardware components we have the
main components, the input and output
devices.
- In main components it has the
motherboard, CPU, RAM, power supply,
storage device (hard disk drive).
- In input devices we have keyboard and
mouse.
- In output devices we have monitor,
printer, and speaker.
- Let’s start to the main components. The - The motherboard, also known as the

- Ok. In other term, motherboard is the

primary circuit board within a computer
that connects and support all the - The CPU stand’s for Central Processing

- Next is the CPU. What is CPU stand’s for? responsible for executing instructions and
performing calculations.

- Next is the Random Access Memory

(RAM). RAM is the computer’s short-term
memory. It stores data and instructions
that the CPU is currently using.
- RAM is considered the computer’s short-
term memory because it temporarily
stores data and instructions. - Based from the word itself, I think the

think the power supply can give?

- Ok. Very good.

- The power supply converts alternating
current (AC) from a wall outlet into the
direct current (DC) needed by computer
components. It provides the necessary
voltage and current to power the
motherboard, CPU, and other
components. - A HDD is a traditional data storage device

- It can store programs and applications,

- Ok. So, what are the information that it documents, files, images, videos, audio and
can store? many more.

- Ok, very good.

- Now, let’s go on to the input and output
devices.
- For the input devices we have the - A keyboard is an input device used to

information.
- A mouse is a pointing device used to
control the cursor on a computer screen. It
allows users to interact with graphical user
interfaces (GUIs) by clicking, dragging, and
scrolling.

- Ok. Both them are input device that

allows users to interact with and navigate
computer system.
- So now, let us know the output devices.
- First we have the monitor. A monitor is
the display screen that shows the output
from the computer. It displays text,
images, and videos generated by the - The TV is one of the thing that can

- Since you already know what is monitor, - A printer is an output device that

does the printer do?

- Ok. I know that you’re already familiar

with printers so let’s move on to speaker. - Speakers are output devices that produce

computer clearly.
- Have you understood the parts of
computer system?
- Alright. Now, the question is, how does
the parts of the computer system work
together?
- Here’s a diagram that shows how the
computer work.
- The arrows show how information flows
through the computer. From the input
where the computer receives information
to the heart of the computer, the
processor which takes the input and does
something with it, like calculating
numbers or displaying a picture. Then, it
will now go to the storage where the
computer saves information and the

the data or instructions from the storage
device. Then to the output where it will

the lesson, let’s proceed to the activity.
GENERALIZATION - So, after our activity, did you learn - Yes ma’am .
(Elaborate) something?
- What did you learn from our today’s
lesson? - We learned that every parts of the
computer system has its own functions and
if one of its part are damage or not
working, it will lead to the malfunctioning
of the computer system.
- Okay, very good. Since you already
understand our topic for this afternoon, I
want you to get a one half sheet of paper
and try to identify the image I will show
you. Is that clear now? - Yes ma’am.

EVALUATION - (See the PowerPoint Presentation for

the activity)

V. ASSIGNMENT - Ok class, for your assignment,

materials. This assessment is for
the whole class, so you can help
each to build it. Ok, that’s all for - Good bye ma’am!

VII. REFLECTIONS
Reflect on your teaching
and assess yourself as a
teacher. Think about your
student’s progress. What
works? What else needs to
be done to help the
students learn? Identify
what help your
instructional supervisors
can provide for you so
when you meet them, you
can ask them relevant
questions. Indicate below
whichever is/are
appropriate.
A. No. of learners who
earned 80% on the
formative assessment.
B. No. of learners who
require additional
activities for remediation.
C. Did the remedial
lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught
up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well?
Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish
