WRITING MY
Participate and Assist

With all these information in mind, you are all set in writing your lesson plan. Based on the
instruction given by your cooperating Teacher, prepare your lesson plan based on the learning
competencies of the lesson. Consider the age appropriateness and level of communication of
your students.
Request lesson plan exemplars/ lesson plan templates from your Resource Teacher, if not
available, you can make use of the basic components of lesson plan.

Lesson Plan in Mathematics

(Subject)
Grade Level 7
Learning Outcomes
At the end of 60- minute class discussion and class activities, the Grade 7-
Archimedes of Siocon National Science Highschool students should be able to
achieve the following, with at least 80% level of accuracy and proficiency:
a. describe the absolute value of a number on a number line;
b. illustrate the distance of the number from 0; and
participate actively during activities

Learning Procedures
Elicit: Activity 1: stick me! (obj. b & obj. c)
Directions: The teacher will only call representatives to choose and stick
the sticky notes on the number line pasted on the board. (if the students
answered correctly, they will receive an award and their group will receive
heart react)
Engage: Activity 2: Lucky Draw (obj. a)
Directions: The teacher will draw the lucky number inside the box. The
student who’s assign in the number drawn inside the box will be the one to
answer the questions. Those students who answered correctly will receive an
award.
 What did you do in the first activity?
 What set of real numbers that was illustrated or stick in the number
line?
 How did you find the correct position of each given numbers?
 What have you observe with their colors?
Explore: Activity 3:GALLERY WALK
Directions: The teacher will post visual aids and images on the different
corner of the room. Each group can take notes or pictures about the gallery
items they’ve view. Each view on every item will only take in 30 seconds.
Positive group will first walk to the item #1 while the negative group will
walk first to gallery item #6, after 30 seconds the group will rotate clockwise
to view another gallery item.
Explain: The teacher illustrates the distance of the number from 0 through
illustrative examples.
A. Find the absolute value of each
a. 9
b. -4
Activity 4: The Bicycle Joy Ride Of Archie And Angelica
Problem: Archie and Angelica were at Aloys’ house. Angelica rode her
bicycle 3 miles west of Aloys’ house, and Archie rode his bicycle 3 miles east
of Aloys’ house. Who travelled a greater distance from Aloys’ house Archie or
Angelica?
Elaborate: Activity 4: The Metro Manila Rail Transit (MRT) Tour
Directions: Suppose the MRT stations in manila were on a straight line,
were Shaw Boulevard station is the origin and were 1 kilometers (Km) apart
from each stations. Each group will receive an envelope; inside it are manila
paper, pilot pen, and the following guide questions and only be given 5
minutes to finish the task. Each group must choose 1 representative to
explain your work for only 1 minute. Please be guided by our rubrics.
Consider the NUMBER LINE on the MRT stations below.
 Evaluation: In this part, the teacher plan to implement this through
individual assessment, the short assessment has 5 questions with letter to
choose.
 Extend: The teacher will implement the plan through problem that will
cater the next lesson.

Notice

1. What factors did you consider in writing your lesson plan/ learning plan?
Clearly defining the desired learning outcomes is a crucial first step in
developing a lesson plan. Educators consider the knowledge, skills, and
attitudes they want their students to acquire at the end of the lesson or unit.

2. What difficulties did you meet in writing your lesson/ learning plan?
Writing a lesson plan can be time-consuming, especially when
considering all the necessary elements such as learning objectives,
instructional strategies, assessments, and differentiation. Educators may feel
the pressure to create effective plans within limited time.

3. What feedback was/ were given by your Resource Teacher in your first draft/ succeeding
lesson/ learning plan?
Resource teachers may review the lesson plan to ensure that the content,
skills, and assessments align with the specific curriculum standards or learning
objectives. They may provide feedback on how to better align the lesson plan with
the required standards.

4. What where the best features/ areas for improvement of your lesson/ learning plan?
A good lesson plan should have clear and specific learning objectives
that outline what students will be able to achieve by the end of the lesson.
This helps to provide a focus and direction for both the teacher and the
students. Effective lesson plans incorporate a variety of instructional
strategies to keep students engaged and actively participating in the
learning process. This can include interactive discussions, group work,
hands-on activities, multimedia resources, and other engaging techniques.

REFLECT

Why is lesson planning an integral part of instructional cycle?

Lesson planning is an integral part of the instructional cycle because it
helps teachers organize and structure their teaching activities in a
systematic and purposeful manner. Lesson planning allows teachers to
establish clear and specific learning objectives for each lesson. These
objectives define what students should know, understand, and be able to do
by the end of the lesson. They help guide the teacher's instructional
decisions and ensure that the lesson is focused and aligned with the
curriculum.

Angelica rode her bicycle 3 miles west of Aloys’ house, and
Archie rode his bicycle 3 miles east of Aloys’ house. Who
travelled a greater distance from Aloys’ house Archie or
Angelica?

So let’s first find the absolute value traveled by Archie.

Since, Archie traveled east or right of Aloy’s house. So, we

can denote it as|3|. Then, let’s count the unit or the distance
traveled by Archie. But, let’s draw first a number line.

Therefore, |3| = 3 km to the right of Atom’s house

I want two volunteers, one for positive group and another one
from negative group to find and illustrate the absolute value of
Angelica’s bicycle joyride. The students will listen.

|-3| = 3 km to the left of Atom’s

Notice

How did the students react to the activities/ various elements to arouse their interest?
The students were actively engaged and they like how I teach. They like
the activities I have implemented during discussion. They feel motivated to
learn more about the topic. They participate actively and enjoyed the
learning process.

Were the students focused when you were stating the learning objectives at the beginning
of the lesson?
The students listen attentively every time I discussed the learning
expectations as well as the different procedures before I start the discussion
or before they start doing their activities.

How did the new learnings relate with what they really know?
This shows the important of giving formative assessment to the
learners; it is to measure the learning or knowledge of the students of what
they already know so that the teacher will know where and what lesson to be
start.

Did you notice some students who needed assistance? What did you do?
I didn’t notice, since the students were all active and smart.

Did the students find difficulty in applying the theories / concepts learned to real life?
No, the students were able to learn fast as they actively participated
and engage themselves. They were able to answer my questions.

How did your students react to your feedback?

The students were happy when they received points and received an awards.

What pieces of evidence can prove that the students had retention of learning?
The results of their assessments and if the students recall the last topic.

Overall impression of teaching effectiveness

You properly aligned your learning objectives to the procedure unto the
assessment, good job. But you need to improve how to properly manage the
students and still be in calm situation if the students didn’t follow the
directions. But overall it was good.
REFLECT

Having implemented several lessons in your Cooperating School under the supervision of
your Cooperating Teacher, in what areas of the lesson do you need to improve?

As an educator, I acknowledge that there is always room for growth and

improvement in my teaching abilities. I strive to continually enhance my
skills and knowledge to provide the best possible education for my students.
One area that I am particularly focused on developing is my ability to
effectively manage my students when they are not following instructions or
engaging in disruptive behavior.

Maintaining a calm demeanor in various situations is essential for

creating a conducive learning environment. I understand the importance of
remaining composed and in control of my emotions, even when faced with
challenging behavior from my students. By staying calm, I can think
rationally and respond appropriately to the situation, ensuring that the focus
remains on the educational objectives and the well-being of my students.
