Antenna Experiment 03

The document outlines an experiment to study and plot the radiation pattern of a broadside antenna array using dipole antennas. It includes objectives, apparatus, theoretical background, and a detailed procedure for conducting the experiment, along with an observation table for recorded power measurements at various angles. The results are intended to illustrate the performance of the broadside antenna array in terms of its radiation pattern.

1. Objective
To study and plot the radiation pattern of a broadside antenna array.

2. Apparatus
• RF signalBroadside
APMS, generatorantenna
• Two or more
Antenna half-wave
pattern dipole antennas
measurement system

• Antenna mounting frame (for linear spacing)

• Radiation pattern plotter or a rotating measurement setup

3. Theory
• Broadside array radiates perpendicular to the axis.
• Elements are spaced at λ/2 and fed in phase.
• Total radiation pattern is the product of element pattern and array factor.

4. Procedure
1. Set up dipole antennas at uniform spacing (typically λ/2).
2. Feed all antennas with the same phase using a power divider.
3. Rotate the receiving antenna or the array through 0–360°.
4. Measure radiation at various angles (e.g., every 10°).
5. Normalize and plot the radiation pattern.
