SIMPLE PAST: REGULAR VERBS

REGLA GENERAL: agregamos “ed” al verbo. Ejemplo: work – worked

SIMPLE PAST: IRREGULAR VERBS

El inglés tiene verbos irregulares en el pasado simple, esto significa que no se les agrega “ED” sino que cambian.
Ej: GO – WENT “I went to the park yesterday”
EAT – ATE “We ate pizza last Sunday”

No hay una regla simple para deducir el pasado simple en inglés de los verbos irregulares y por lo tanto se deben
estudiar de la tabla de verbos.

Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a young Jewish German girl who became
internationally famous after the publication of her diary but she never enjoyed
her fame because the book was published after her death. In the diary she
described the nightmare reality of eight people crowded in a small place, but also
her dreams and feelings of a young girl.

Anne Frank was born in 1929 in Germany. She had a small family: her father - a German officer from
World War I, her mother, and a sister called Margot who was three years older than her.

In 1933 her family moved to the Netherlands to start a new life because they were afraid of Hitler.
Anne was a hard-working student who had a passion for books. She loved reading and dreamt of
being a famous writer. She was also a very energetic. She had many friends in the Netherlands and
spent long hours playing with her friends.

In June 1942, Anne received a notebook for her thirteenth birthday. She decided to use it as a diary
and wrote about her dreams to become a writer. In July, she and her family were ordered to go to a
work camp so they decided to hide in the attic of her father’s workplace. They shared the small space
with another family for two years. They survived thanks to some friends who regularly sent them food.

Unfortunately, in August 1944, German security police discovered them and arrested its occupants.
Anne was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Anne died of typhus in March 1945. Her diary
was found and given to her father. It is one of the most widely read books in the world today.

Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury was born on September 5, 1946, in Zanzibar, which is now part of Tanzania. His birth
name was Farrokh Bulsara, and he was of Indian descent. His family moved to England when he was a
child, and he grew up in London. Freddie showed an early interest in music and started playing piano when
he was a young boy.
In the 1970s, Freddie became the lead singer of a famous rock band called Queen. The members of the
band were: Freddie Mercury, Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), and John Deacon (bass). Queen
became very successful with hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions," and "Somebody to
Love." Freddie was known for his incredible voice, powerful stage presence, and unique style. He had the
ability to sing a wide range of notes, from low to high, and was loved by fans all around the world.
Freddie was also known for his extravagant fashion and strong personality. He was a performer who loved
to entertain and connect with his audience. His concerts were full of energy, and he always made sure to
give his best performance.
Sadly, Freddie Mercury died on November 24, 1991, at the age of 45. He died due to complications from
AIDS. His death shocked the world, but his music and legacy live on. He is remembered as one of the
greatest rock musicians of all time.
