HOLIDAY HOME WORK (2025-26)


Class – IX

1. SOCIAL SCIENCE
Managing Disasters
1. Every student has to compulsorily undertake one project on Disaster
Management.
2. Objectives:
The main objectives of giving project work on Disaster Management to the students
are to:
a. create awareness in them about different disasters, their consequences and
management
b. prepare them in advance to face such situations
c. ensure their participation in disaster mitigation plans
d. enable them to create awareness and preparedness among the community.
3. The project work should also help in enhancing the Life Skills of the students.
4. Different forms of Art may be integrated in the project work.
5. The distribution of marks over different aspects relating to Project Work is as
follows:
a) Content accuracy, originality and analysis- 2 marks
b) Presentation and creativity – 2 marks
c) Viva Voce- 1 mark
6. The project carried out by the students should subsequently be shared among
themselves through interactive sessions.
7. It is to be noted here by all the students that the projects and models prepared
should be made from eco-friendly products without incurring too much expenditure.
8. The Project Report could be handwritten /digital made by the students
themselves.
General instruction :
1. Project has to be done on A 4 size paper, first page should have your name,
class and topic.
2 .Integration of Art is necessary.
3.Project has to be neat, original and presentable.
Choose any one topic.

Topic should cover following points:
1. Introduction-
a. Meaning of Disaster.
b. Types of Disaster.
2. Introduction of the topic.
3. Causes and damage caused.
4. Mitigation measures taken:
a. By the government.
b. By the people and communities.
5. Critical appraisal. (Extent to which the disaster could be countered.)
6. Preparedness, readiness and response action.
7. Experience and suggestions.

2. Mathematics
1. Worksheets on first 3 chapters
2. Prepare artistic square root spiral artwork of your choice

3. Sanskrit
Collect any 5 sanskrit shloka. Write their meaning and add colourful pictures.

4. English
Theme: Learning beyond the classroom.
Homework 1 :
Read and React Project: “Live the Book”
Step 1: Choose and Read Any One Book
• The Blue Umbrella – Ruskin Bond
• The Diary of a Young Girl – Anne Frank
• Wings of Fire – A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (simplified version)
Step 2: Written Book Review (3 pages)
Include:
• Summary in your own words
• What you learned from it
• Favourite scene or quote with reasons
• A moral/message from the book
• Creative corner (draw a scene, design a new cover, or write a poem
inspired by the book)
Step 3: Performance Task – Choose Any One
• Act out a monologue as your favourite character (2–3 mins video)
• Narrate a scene from the book in your own words, as if you’re telling a
story
• Create a vlog-style video – “If I were [character’s name]…”
(Students who cannot record a video may write the monologue instead)
Homework 2:
Title: “If My Life Paused in Sikkim”

Task:
Imagine you’ve been sent to Sikkim for a special student retreat — far away from city
life, no internet, no phones, just you, nature, and the local people.
Now write a descriptive story, diary entry, or letter based on this prompt:
“One morning I woke up in a small wooden cottage in Sikkim, with clouds brushing
against the window and prayer flags fluttering outside. Something inside me began
to change…”
Guidelines:
• You can choose the format: short story, diary entry, or a letter
• Include sensory details: What do you see, hear, smell, feel?
• Talk about one powerful experience or realization you had there
• Keep it realistic but imaginative – the more personal, the better
• Word limit: 300–400 words
• Optional: Add a sketch of what you imagined or a poem titled “My
Pause in Sikkim”
