1.0 ASSEMBLY AND MAINTENANCE
1.1 ASSEMBLY: DUAL STRIPPER OPTION
• While assembling, never force threaded component parts together.
• Never hammer directly on components
• Install all O-rings, Back-up rings, and seals.
• Thoroughly grease all sealing surfaces.
• Use Liquid O-Ring 101 grease and coat all thread connections.
• Install the O-rings ‘22’ into the dove tail grooves on the O.D. of the Bearing
Housing ‘7’.
• Install the Enerseal ‘15’ in the bottom of the Bearing Housing ‘7’. Make sure
that the open end of the seal is in the upward position.
• Install the Wiper Ring ‘10’ into the bottom groove of the Bearing Housing ‘7’.
• Install the Kaydon XPO bearing ‘25’ in the Bearing Housing ‘7’.
• Install a Kaydon ARO Bearing ‘46’ above the XPO Bearing.
• Install a second XPO bearing ‘25’ above the ARO bearing.
• Slide the Mandrel ‘8’ into the Bearing Housing ‘7’ until it shoulders out on the
lower bearing.
• Place the Thrust Bearing ‘23’ in the top of the Bearing Housing and slide it
down until it shoulders out on the Mandrel.
• Use calibration assembly to find number of Flow Restrictor Plugs and number
of Plugs to use in Labyrinth Ring.
o Install the Flow Restrictor Plugs ‘36’ into the holes in the top of the Labyrinth
Ring ‘6’.

• Insert the Flange Mount Safety Screens ‘38’ into the holes at the bottom of
the Labyrinth Ring ‘6’. Install the Screen Caps ‘39’ to hold the screens in
place.
• Install O-ring ‘21’ in the groove on the O.D. of the Labyrinth Ring ‘6’.
• Place Bearing ‘19’ in the bottom of the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Slide the Labyrinth Ring ‘6’ into the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’ so that the
Labyrinth Ring O-ring is oriented towards the bottom of the Bearing Retainer
Cap.
• Install the Retaining Ring ‘34’ in the groove at the bottom of the Bearing
retainer Cap ‘5’ to hold the Labyrinth Ring in place.
• Install O-ring ‘22’ in the bottom groove of the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Install Enerseals ‘14’ in the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’. Install seals such that
the open ends of the seals are in the downward position.
• Place the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’ over the mandrel. Secure it with 3/8’’ – 16
UNC Cap Screws ‘20’.
• Install O-rings ‘33’ into grooves on Top Cap Flow Nipple ‘4’.
• Thread the Top Cap Flow Nipple ‘4’ into the port on the top of the Bearing
Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Place Wiper Ring ‘40’ in the top most groove of the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’.
• Install the two Enerseals ’14’ in the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’. Install the seals
such that the open ends of the seals are in the downward position.
• Place Back-Up Ring ‘17’ and O-Ring ‘18’ over the shoulder at the bottom of
the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’.
• Lower the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’ down onto the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
Make sure that the Stripper Top Cap is oriented such that the Top Cap Flow
Nipple ‘4’ will stab into the correct port. Secure with ¾’’ –10 UNC Cap
Screws ‘30’.
• Place the Stripper Element Assembly ‘31’ into the top of the Mandrel ‘8’.
Make sure that the two O-rings have been installed on the top of the Element.

• Lock the Stripper Element Assembly ‘31’ into place using the Stripper Set
Screws ‘32’.
• Place the Stripper Element Cap ‘44’ over the top of the Mandrel ‘8’.
• Install the ½’’ – 13 UNC Set Screws ‘45’ to hold the Stripper Element Cap ‘44’
in place.
• Insert the Element Assembly ‘9’ into the Mandrel ‘8’. Attach it to Mandrel
using the ½’’ – 13 UNC Cap Screws ‘24’.(sub assembly)
• Install O-ring ‘26’ into the groove at the top of the Lower Mandrel ‘12’.
• Thread the Lower Mandrel ‘12’ onto the bottom of the Mandrel ‘8’.
• Install the Mandrel Set Screws ‘11’ to secure the Lower Mandrel to the
Mandrel.
• Install the Bladder Set Screws ‘13’ to secure the Seal Element to the Lower
Mandrel.
1.2 DISASSEMBLY: DUAL STRIPPER OPTION
• Remove Set Screws ‘45’ from the Stripper Element Cap ‘44’.
• Remove Stripper Element Cap ‘44’ from the top of the Mandrel
• Remove the Stripper Set Screws ‘32’.
• Lift the Stripper Element Assembly ’31’ from the top of the Mandrel.
• Remove the Set Screws ’30’ from the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’.
• Lift the Stripper Top Cap ‘2’ off of the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Remove the Bladder Set Screw ‘13’ from the bottom of the Lower Mandrel
‘12’.
• Remove the Mandrel Set Screw ‘11’ from the top of the Lower Mandrel ‘12’.

• Unscrew the Lower Mandrel ‘12’ from the Mandrel ‘8’.
• Remove the Cap Screws ’24’ that secure the Element Assembly ‘9’ to the
Mandrel ‘8’.
• Slide the Element Assembly ‘9’ out of the bottom of the Mandrel ‘8’.
• Remove the Top Cap Flow Nipple ‘4’ from the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Remove the Set Screws ‘20’ from the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Remove the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’ from the Bearing Housing ‘7’.
• Remove the Snap Ring ‘34’ from the bottom of the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Pull the Labyrinth Ring ‘6’ from the Bearing Retainer Cap ‘5’.
• Pull the Mandrel ‘8’ out of the top of the Bearing Housing ‘7’
• Remove the Bearings ‘25’ and ‘46’ from the Bearing Housing ‘7’
1.3 ASSEMBLY: SINGLE ELEMENT OPTION
• While assembling, never force threaded component parts together.

• Install the O-rings ‘16’ into the dove tail grooves on the O.D. of the Bearing
Housing ‘3’.
• Install the Enerseal ‘14’ in the bottom of the Bearing Housing ‘3’. Install the
seal such that the open end of the seal is in the upward position.
• Install the Wiper Ring ‘6’ into the bottom groove of the Bearing Housing ‘3’.
• Install the Kaydon XPO ‘12’ in the Bearing Housing ‘3’

• Install a Kaydon ARO ‘27’ bearing above the XPO bearing.
• Install a second Kaydon XPO bearing ‘12’ above the ARO bearing.
• Slide the Mandrel ‘4’ into the Bearing Housing ‘3’ until it shoulders out on the
lower bearing.
• Place the Thrust Bearing ‘11’ in the top of the Bearing Housing and slide it
down until it shoulders out on the Mandrel.
• Use calibration assembly to find number of Flow Restrictor Plugs to use and
Number of Plugs to use in Labyrinth Ring.
o Install the Flow Restrictor Plugs ‘22’ into the holes in the top of the Labyrinth
Ring ‘2’.
• Insert the Flange Mount Safety Screens ‘24’ into the holes at the bottom of
the Labyrinth Ring ‘2’. Install the Screen Caps ‘25’ to hold the screens in
place.
• Install O-ring ‘15’ in the groove on the O.D. of the Labyrinth Ring ‘2’.
• Place Bearing ‘10’ in the bottom of the Top Cap ‘1’.
• Slide the Labyrinth Ring ‘2’ into the Top Cap ‘1’ so that the Labyrinth Ring O-
ring is oriented towards the bottom of the Bearing Retainer Cap.
• Install the Retaining Ring ‘20’ in the groove at the bottom of the Top Cap ‘1’ to
hold the Labyrinth Ring in place.
• Install O-ring ‘16’ in the bottom groove of the Top Cap ‘1’.
• Install the Enerseal ‘13’ in the Top Cap ‘1’. Install the seal such that the open
end of the seal is in the downward position.
• Place the Top Cap ‘1’ over the mandrel. Secure it with 3/8’’ – 16 UNC Cap
Screws ‘18’.
• Insert the Element Assembly ‘9’ into the Mandrel ‘4’. Attach it to Mandrel
using the ½’’ – 13 UNC Cap Screws ‘19’.(sub assembly)

• Install O-ring ‘17’ into the groove at the top of the Lower Mandrel ‘5’.
• Thread the Lower Mandrel ‘5’ onto the bottom of the Mandrel ‘4’.
• Install the Mandrel Set Screws ‘7’ to secure the Lower Mandrel to the
Mandrel.
• Install the Bladder Set Screws ‘8’ to secure the Seal Element to the Lower
Mandrel.
1.4 DISASSEMBLY: SINGLE ELEMENT OPTION
• Remove the Bladder Set Screw ‘8’ from the bottom of the Lower Mandrel ‘5’.
• Remove the Mandrel Set Screw ‘7’ from the top of the Lower Mandrel ‘5’.
• Unscrew the Lower Mandrel ‘5’ from the Mandrel ‘4’.
• Remove the Cap Screws ’19’ that secure the Element Assembly ‘9’ to the
Mandrel ‘4’.
• Slide the Element Assembly ‘9’ out of the bottom of the Mandrel ‘4’.
• Remove the Set Screws ‘18’ from the Top Cap ‘1’.
• Remove the Top Cap ‘1’ from the Bearing Housing ‘3’.
• Remove the Snap Ring ‘20’ from the bottom of the Top Cap ‘1’.
• Pull the Labyrinth Ring ‘2’ from the Top Cap ‘1’.
• Pull the Mandrel ‘4’ out of the top of the Bearing Housing ‘3’
• Remove the Bearings ‘12’ and ‘27’ from the Bearing Housing ‘3’
