1. Preliminary Pages
All preliminary pages will be numbered by Roman numbers (I, II, III…) at the bottom center of
the page except the cover page, should be without numbering.
Preliminary pages follow this sequence:
1. Cover page
2. DISSETATION APPROVAL
3. Acknowledgment
4. DECLARATION
5. Abstract
The abstract should be written in Kurdish, English and Arabic, presenting an outline of the
project and providing the reader with a brief idea about the report. It includes the following:
1. The problem with basic information about the project.
2. Methods used in solving the problem.
3. Main results, focusing on newly observed facts.
4. Conclusions and argument discussed.
Abstract has to be written last to reflect precisely the content of the report, typed as one
paragraph and not to exceed 250-300 words. In addition to the English abstract, Arabic
abstract must be included.
i. Table of Contents
ii. List of Tables
iii. List of Figures
iv. Equations
v. List of Acronyms and Symbols
Tables
It is recommended to use the appropriate table for tabulating data and results. The title of
each table should be written in bold, using font size 12 as shown in them following example
(Table 4.1: table name). The first number refers to the chapter, to which the table belongs
Figures
Figures should be numbered according to the chapter where they are used (i.e. Figure 3.1:
Figure Caption). The caption must be written using font size 12.
Equations
Using Math type in Microsoft word is considered as the best choice in writing equations in the
text. Equations must be numbered in sequence based on chapter number such as:
3.4 i.e. chapter No. 3 equation No. 4.
2. Main Chapters
The number of chapters in the graduation project report depending on the specialization or
research requirement. In general, it can be divided as follows:
Chapter One: Introduction
Introduction should include:
1.1. Background of the Study
Which simply expresses the idea of the project, presents its’ goals and importance as well as
the reason for choosing this topic. This may be copied from other references related to the
subject.
1.1.1. Nature of the Project
1.1.2. Site of the Project:
1.2. Problem Statement:
1.2.1. General Problem:
1.2.2. Specific Problems:
1.3. Project Objective:
1.3.1. Aim (General Objective):
The goal of the project must be clearly stated. There might be sub goals besides the
main ones.
1.3.2. Specific Objectives:
sub goals besides the main ones. Sub goals that lead to main one
1.4. The Significance and Motivation of the Study
Where the problem of the project must be explained in general terms and to be
understandable.
1.5. Scope and Limitations:
1.5.1. Scope:
1.5.2. Limitations:
1.6. Methodology
Scientific methods used in the project must be well defined.
Chapter Two: Literature Review
Student need to have a good understanding of the relevant published work concerning his / her
topic by reviewing major contributions of related studies and articles. Review is very important
in evaluating the project work compared to earlier research. As a cornerstone in preparing a high-
quality graduation project, the review should be guided by student’s research objective and
linked
at all times to the research purpose and rationale.
This chapter includes the following points:
2.1. Introduction
To be a short motivating essay showing the importance and significance of the project.
2.2. Theoretical Background
To cover all the basic principles and procedures of the subject matter of the project.
2.3. The previous studies and works
In this section, previous relevant studies and the applicable works should be mentioned in
the form of a critical discussion, analysis, showing an awareness of different arguments,
theories and approaches with clarification for their importance to the project.
Overall, the purpose of literature review is to define and limit the problem, avoid
unnecessary duplication, select the promising research methods and to relate student’s
findings to previous knowledge and identify areas which need further research.
2.3.1. Related study #1

2.3.1.1. Title of related study

2.3.1.2. proponents:
2.3.1.3. program & year
2.3.1.4. Abstract:
2.3.1.5. Synthesis (Similarities and Differences)

2.3.2. Related study #2
2.3.2.1. Title of related study
2.3.2.2. proponents:
2.3.2.3. program & year
2.3.2.4. Synthesis (Similarities and Differences)

Chapter Three & Chapter Four: Materials and Methods
Theses chapter includes the following:
Description of methods and procedures used: For example, the strategy of collecting
samples, experimental design, tools have been used and the reliability of data quality assessment.
It is important to mention the name of the method and its’ reference, even if the method is very
well-known. Also, it is more important to mention whether the method is modified somehow.
Description of materials used: Scientific and commercial names of materials and tools used in
conducting the project must be detailed with their specifications as well as lab tests.
Description of programs used: Software complete name. Organizing programs or documentation
programs have to be listed with justification (reason of using this particular program).
3. TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
3.1. Area of Technology
3.2. Software Methodology
3.3 Resource Requirements
3.3.1 Resources Requirements for Development
3.3.1.1 Hardware requirements for the development
3.3.1.2 Software requirements for the development
3.3.2 Resources Requirements for Deployment
3.3.2.1. Hardware requirements for the deployment
3.3.2.2 Software requirements for the deployment
CHAPTER FOUR: ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
4.1. UML DESIGN
4.1.1. Use Case Diagram
4.1.2. Activity Diagram
4.2. DATABASE
4.2.1. Entity Relationship Diagram
4.2.2. Data Dictionary (Schemas)
CHAPTER FIVE: RESULTS AND DISCUTIONS:
This is the most important part of the graduation project report. In this chapter the results
must be summarized, emphasizing the important patterns and trends. Also, the student may
clarify the results through statistics and referring to the tables and figures.
This chapter must include the followings:
1. Present the specific results of the project in organized and logical way; using the same
sequence followed in materials and methods.
2. Show the complete results.
3. Make the maximum usage of tables and figures.
4. Display findings and meaningful data only (no raw data).
5. Relate results to the hypothesis.
6. Connect the data to their explanations.
7. Compare results obtained in this project with the results of other researchers.
8. Pay attention to the following:
a. Avoid repeating the same result.
b. Avoid omitting negative data and try to find reasonable explanation.
c. Avoid generalizing specific results.
5.1 Users Prototype Interface
5.2 Testing and Implementation
5.2.1 Alpha and Beta Test Results
5.2.1.1 Alpha Test Results
5.2.1.2 Beta Test Results
5.2.2 Acceptability Test
5.3 Sample Generated Reports

Chapter SIX: Conclusion and Recommendations

This chapter covers the following:
1. Conclusions that can be resolved from the specific results of this project.
2. Its importance for the problem to be solved.
3. Implications for practical applications or future studies if applicable.
4. Recommendations.
5. Logical solutions for future works, in case results are not of the best level.
In brief, the student must list in this chapter the misconceptions of the used system and suggest
ways to overcome these drawbacks. Also, propose ideas and recommendations for future work to
complete the non-achieved goals of the project

6.1 Conclusion
6.2 Recommendation
7. CHAPTER SEVEN References
References may help in evaluating the strength and efficiency of graduation report. The level
of references is considered as a measurement for gathering data and the ideas used in preparing
the background study of the project. It is recommended to use IEEE style into citation.
