ENHANCING PAGE LAYOUT AND GRAPHICS

GETTING STARTED
 Open the file NP_WD19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_1.docx, available for download from
the SAM website.
 Save the file as NP_WD19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_2.docx by changing the “1” to a
“2”.
o If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it.
The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
 To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data
files from the SAM website onto your computer:
o Support_WD19_EOM4-2_Yoga.jpg

 With the file NP_WD19_EOM4-2_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your


first and last name is displayed in the footer.
o If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy
from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS
1. You are an assistant to the director of parks and recreation for the city of Garner,
Washington, and are working on the recreational programs guide for 2022.

On page 1, change the Transform effect of the WordArt to Double Wave: Down-Up [Mac
Hint: Double Wave 1], and then change the color of the WordArt text shadow to Purple,
Accent 4.
2. Rotate the picture of the three children to the left by 90°.
3. Crop the picture of the boys playing baseball so that it is as long as the playground
picture to its left.
4. Insert the picture Support_WD19_EOM4-2_Yoga.jpg to the left of the pool picture.
(Hint: The document uses a table to organize the pictures.)
5. Change the orientation of the text "Recreation Programs 2022" so that it is horizontal in
the shape.
6. On page 2, add the text New! to the purple star shape, and then position the shape
using the Top Left with Square Text Wrapping option.
7. Apply an Offset: Center text shadow to the heading paragraph "Fitness Classes".
8. Insert a Continuous section break in each of the following locations in the document:
a. On page 2, at the beginning of the first list item "Registration: January 9"
b. On page 2, at the beginning of the heading paragraph "Fitness Classes"
c. On page 2, at the beginning of the heading paragraph "Monday Yoga Flow"
d. On page 3, at the beginning of the heading paragraph "Karate"

9. On page 2, format the list into two columns beginning "Registration: January 9" and
ending "Fee: $100 for residents". Also format the yoga class descriptions into two
columns beginning "Monday Yoga Flow" and ending "Friday mornings 8:15–10:15 am.
Ages 16 and older.".
10. Insert a star symbol (Wingdings 182) at the beginning of the text "No camp on July 4"
being sure to leave the space between the star symbol and the text "No". (Hint: You can
turn on paragraph marks to verify that the space remains.)
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close
the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your
completed project.
