collision of two Continental plates caused the Earth's crust to buckle and fold, leading to the uplift of the
mountains. The Tethys Sea, which existed between the two plates, was eventually squeezed out and the
sediments from its seabed formed the mountains. The formation of the Himalayas is an ongoing process,
and the mountains continue to rise and erode due to tectonic activity and weathering.
