GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS
This English learning guide for work at home was designed to help your son or daughter write about events
in the past such as holidays or birthdays, and identify how to ask questions related to these topics. For
this, your child must dedicate one hour to develop the entire guide. The work described here is related to
page 62 of the student book Way to Go 7 that is available on the Colombia learns platform. The book page
is attached at the end of the guide in case you do not have internet access. The activities in this guide are
briefly described below:
Activity 1: Relate images to sentences in the past tense.
Activity 2: Identify grammatical features through a series of true/false questions.
Activity 3: Read a text and answer some comprehension questions.
Activity 4: Describe your last vacation using the text from the previous exercise and the guide words
as a model.
Activity 5: Self-assess your learning
Each activity presents a clear example of an answer highlighted in yellow. Plus, at the end you can find
the correct answers and additional supporting resources. We appreciate your collaboration in supervising
that your child completes the indicated activities. At the end, you will be able to find a series of questions
to verify what your child learned through the development of this guide.
WELCOME TO THIS SELF-STUDY GUIDE
This self-study guide will give you some orientation about how to describe past events like your last
vacation or your last birthday. The activities presented here are based on the Way to go student’s book
7, Module 2, Unit 2. Lesson 1. It starts with a matching exercise, then you have to answer some grammar
questions (verbs in past form and the auxiliary verb used to ask questions), later you read and answer
some comprehension questions, and finally you find a writing activity about your last vacation.
