UNIT 3. RECRUITMENT

1. BRAINSTORMING

What does recruitment mean to you?

CV, application letter, job interview, applicant, candidate, job description, employment, interviewer
vs. interviewee, employer vs. employee, skills, abilities, educational background, work experience,
trainings, foreign language skills, HR (Human Resources), applying for a job, attending a job
interviews, references, headhunting, staffing, job search, recruitment agencies, personal branding,
communication skills, application form, appointment page (in a newspaper), degree, early
retirement, know-how, fringe benefits, fill a vacancy, probation (period), shortlisting candidates

Keep in mind!
1. an applicant = a candidate; to apply for a job
2. to attend an interview
interviewer (a person from the company, usually from the HR department) vs.
interviewee (applicant/candidate)

3. shortlist (noun) = a list of people who have been judged the most suitable for
a job or prize, made from a longer list of people originally considered, and from which
one person will be chosen;
to shortlist candidates = to choose the best candidates for a job position.

4. Recruitment vs. employment


Recruitment = the process of finding people to work for a company or become a
new member of an organization (job search, job application, job interview)
Employment = the fact of someone being paid to work for a company or organization
(having a job, an employment contract)

When preparing your CV, try to be attentive to the following aspects:
• For Education and Work Experience (use a descending order; you should start with the
most recent degree/ education in progress/ workplace)
• UBB – Babeş-Bolyai University
• FSEGA – Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
• AAG – Business Administration (German Line of Studies)
• BA (Bachelor of Arts) – is a s degree awarded for an undergraduate program
in the arts. BA is designed to prepare you with critical thinking skills,
communication skills, and a foundation in the humanities – such as literature,
history, language, and religion.
• BSc (Bachelor of Sciences) - the recipient of a bachelor' s degree which usually
signifies that the recipient has done the greater part of his or her course work in
the sciences with some specialization in a particular science. Biology,
biochemistry, mathematics, physics, chemistry, social science, sport/exercise
science, general science, earth science, computer science and the various fields
of engineering are almost universally considered to be sciences.
• Bachelor’s Degree vs. Master’s Degree vs. PhD Degree
