Topic : Scales

1. A length of 1 decameter is represented by 5 cm; find R.F. and construct


a plain scales to measure up 2.5 decameter and mark a distance of 19 m
on it.
2. An area of 49 sq.cm on a map represents an area of 16 m2 on a field,
draw a scale long enough to measure 8 m, and mark a distance of 6m
9dm on the scale.
3. A room of 1728 m3 volume is shown by a cube of 216 cm 3 volume, find
R.F. and construct a plain scale to measure upto 42 m, mark a distance
of 22 m on the scale
4. The distance between Ludhiana and Ambala railway station is 120
kilometer ,a passenger train covers this distance in 4 hours ,construct a
plain to measure time upto a single minute ,the RF of the scale is
1/200000. Indicate, on the distance covered by the train in 38 minutes.
5. Construct a diagonal scale of RF =1/4000 to show metres and long
enough to measure upto 500 metres ,mark the distance of 364 m on it.
6. The area of a field is 50,000 sq.m the length and breadth of the field of
field ,on the map is 10 cm & 8 cm resp. construct a diagonal scale which
can read upto 500 metre ,mark the length of 235 metre on the scale.
7. Construct a scale to measure km 1/8 km and 1/40 of an km ,in which 1
km is represent by 4 cm ,mark on this scale a distance of 2.775 km
8. Draw a scale of full size showing 1/100 inch and mesure upto 5 inch
mark the distance of 258 inch on it.

Topic : conics and engineering curves

1. A fixed point is 75 mm from a straight line. Draw the locus of a point P moving such a
way that its distance from the fixed straight line is equal to its distance from the fixed
point. Name the curve generated.
2. Construct a hyperbola by general method, when the distance of the focus from the
directrix is equal to 50mm and E=4/3.draw also a tangent and normal at any point ‘p’
on the curve
3. A point P is 30mm & 40mm resp. from two straight lines which are at right angles to
each other. Draw a rectangular hyperbola from P with 10mm distance from each line.
4. Construct an ellipse by general method, when the distance of the focus from the
directrix is equal to 50mm and E=3/4. Draw also a tangent and normal at any point ‘p’
on the curve.
5. A coin of 50mm diameter rolls over dining table without slipping, a point on the
circumference of the coin is in contact with the table surface in the beginning and after
one complete revolution, draws the curve traced by the point.
6. A circle of 50mm diameter rolls on the circumference of another circle of 200mm
diameter and outside it, draw the locus of a point on the circumference of the rolling
circle for one complete revolution, name the curve also draw tangent & normal at any
point on the curve

1. Draw the projections of the following points on a common reference line


keeping the distance between their projectors 30 mm apart.
a. Point A is 20 mm below the H.P. and 50 mm in front of the V.P.
b. Point B is in the H.P. and 40 mm behind the V.P. Projections of Points 8.9
c. Point C is 30 mm in front of the V.P. and in the H.P.
d. Point D is 50 mm above the H.P. and 30 mm behind the V.P.
e. Point E is 20 mm below the H.P. and 50 mm behind the V.P.
f. Point F is in the V.P. and 50 mm below the H.P

2. Projection of various points is given in Fig. State the position of each point
with respect to the planes of projection

Topic : Projection of St.Lines

1. A straight line AB 70mm long has its front view a’b’ inclined at 45⁰ to XY line
,the point A is of projection 18mm from HP ,the length of its front view is
36mm ,draw the top view of a line and find its inclination with to HP&VP.
2. A line AB 90mm long ,is inclined at 45⁰ the HP and its top view makes an angle
of 60⁰ with VP ,the end A is in the HP and 12mm in front of VP ,draw its
elevation and find its inclination with VP.
3. The view of a straight line AB 72mm long measures 62.4mm, while length of its
front view is 49.2mm ,its end A is in the VP and 12mm above the HP ,draw the
projection of a straight line and determine its inclination with HP&VP.
4. The top view of 75mm long line AB measures 65mm, while length of its front
view is 50mm, its end A is 12mm in front of VP, draw the projection of AB,
determine its inclination with HP&VP and also draw its traces .
5. A line AB 65mm long has its end A IS 20mm above the HP and 30mm in front
of VP and end B is 40mm above the HP and 65mm in front of VP, draw the
projection of AB and determine its inclination with HP & VP, also draw its
traces.
6. The end projectors of a line AB are 50mm apart ,the end A is 29mm above the
HP & 22mm behind VP, end B is 42mm below HP & 30mm in front of VP draw
the projection of line, determine true length, true inclination and traces.
7. The end A of a line AB is in the HP and 25mm behind the VP ,the end B is in the
VP and 50mm above the HP ,the distance between end projectors is 75mm
draw the projection of line, determine true length, true inclination and traces.
8. A straight line PQ has its end P IS 20mm above the HP and 50mm in
front of VP, end Q is 50mm above the HP and 20mm in front of VP. If
the end projectors are 60mm apart, draw the projection of line.

Topic : Projection of Planes

1. Draw the projection of circle of 50 mm diameter having its plane vertical and
inclined at 30° to the VP, its center is 30mm above the HP and 20mm in front of
VP, also show its traces.
2. A 30° – 60° set square of longest side in VP and 300 inclined to HP while its
surface is 450 inclined to VP Draw its projections.
3. A hexagonal plane of side 30 mm has a corner on the ground. Its surface is inclined
at 45° to the H.P. and the top view of the diagonal through the corner which is in
the H.P. makes an angle of 60° with the V.P. Draw its projections.
4. The diagonals of a rhombus measure 100 mm and 40 mm. The longer diagonal is
inclined at 30° to H.P. with an end in H.P. and the smaller diagonal is parallel to
both the principal planes. Draw its projections.
5. A plate having shape of an isosceles triangle has base 40 mm and altitude 54 mm.
It is so placed that in the front view it is seen as an equilateral triangle of side 40
mm having a side inclined at 45° to the reference line. Draw its top view.
6. A thin circular plate of diameter 60 mm appears in the front view as an ellipse of
major and minor axes 60 mm and 40 mm respectively. Draw its projections when
one of the diameters is parallel to both the reference planes
7. A rectangular plate ABCD measuring 40mm X 20mm has its diagonal AC inclined at
30° to the HP whereas the diagonal BD makes an angle of 45°to VP .draw its
projection
8. .The top views of lamina whose surface is perpendicular to VP and inclined at an
angle of 45° to HP appears as a regular hexagon of 30mm side having a side
parallel to the reference line .draw the projection of plane and obtain its true
shape.

1. A pentagonal pyramid base 50mm side and axis 75mm is resting on a corner of its
base on HP is such that the slant edge containing that corner makes an angle of
60° with HP and 30° with the VP, draw the projections
2. A cube of 45 mm side is kept in such a way that its solid diagonal is parallel to HP
and normal to the VP, draw its projections
3. Draw the projection of pentagonal prism, base 30 mm side and axis 70 mm long ,
resting on one of its rectangular face on the ground , with the axis inclined at 45°
to the VP.
4. A square pyramid base 35 mm side and axis 45 mm long is freely suspended from
one of its corners of its base, draw its projection when axis as a vertical plane
makes an angle of 45° with VP
5. A hexagonal pyramid of base 33 mm and axis length 60 mm is kept with a side of
base parallel to VP and the triangular face containing that side being vertical, draw
the projections of the solid .
6. A right circular cone ,base diameter 40mm and axis 70mm long is resting on its
circular rim in such a way that one of its extreme generator is normal to HP and
then the plan of axis makes an angle of 45° to VP ,draw its projection .
7. A square pyramid of base 50 mm side and axis 80 mm long, held in such a way
that one of its edges connection one of the corner of the base and the apex is
perpendicular to the ground and parallel to VP, draw the projection.
8. A regular hexagonal prism edge of base 20 mm and axis of 55mm, lies on one of
its rectangular face such that its axis is parallel to both HP & VP, draw its
projections.

Topic : section of solid

1. A right circular cone, base 75mm dia. And axis 80mm long it is resting on the base
on the ground , it is cut by section by section plane perpendicular to v.p ,inclined
45• to h.p and cutting the axis at a point 35mm from the apex , draw the
sectional front view, sectional top view and true shape of the section.
2. A cylinder of 40mm dia. And 60mm high and having axis vertical ,is cut by a
section plane perpendicular to v.p and inclined at 45• to h.p and intersect the axis
32mm above the base , , draw the sectional front view, sectional top view and
true shape of the section.
3. A cone of dia. Of base 60mm and axis 70mm long is resting on its base on h.p ,it is
cut by an A.I.P so that the true shape of the section is an isosceles triangle having
50mm base , draw the sectional front view, sectional top view and true shape of
the section.
4. A square prism having 120mm long resting its base in h.p, the edge of base are
equally inclined to v.p, the base side is 35mm, the prism is cut by A.I.P passing
through the midpoint at the axis in such a way that the true shape of the section is
rhombus having diagonals 100mm & 50mm draw the projection and determine
the inclination
5. A cube of 60mm edge ,is resting on one of its face on h.p ,it is cut by section plane
in such a way that the true shape of section is regular hexagon ,obtain the
apparent and true shape of the section
6. A pentagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis 60 mm is resting on its base on
the H.P. with an edge of the base nearer the V.P., parallel to it. A vertical section
plane inclined at 45° to the V.P. cuts the pyramid at a distance of 8 mm from the
axis. Draw its sectional front view, top view and true shape of the section.

Topic : Development of Surfaces

1. A cylinder of base diameter 50 mm and axis 70 mm is resting on ground with its axis
vertical. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the V.P., inclined at 45° to the
H.P., passing through the top of a generator and cuts all the other generators. Draw
the development of its lateral surface.
2. A cone of base diameter 50 mm and axis 60 mm is resting on its base on the H.P. A
section plane perpendicular to V.P. and inclined at 45° to H.P., bisects the axis of the
cone. Draw the development of its lateral surface.
3. Draw the development of the lateral surface of a square pyramid of base side 40 mm
and axis 60 mm, resting on its base on the H.P. such that (a) all the sides of the base
are equally inclined to the V.P., and (b) a side of the base is parallel to the V.P
4. A cone of base diameter 60 mm and axis 75 mm is resting on its base on the H.P.
Draw the projections of the cone and show on it, the shortest path traced by a point,
start moving from a point on the circumference of the base, moving around the cone
and returns to the same point
5. A circular hole of largest size is made in a semi-circular metal sheet of diameter 100
mm. The sheet is wrapped to form a cone resting on its base on the H.P. Draw the
projections of the cone with the circle marked on it.
6. The frustum of a square pyramid has its base side 40 mm, top side 20 mm and height
60 mm. It is placed on its base on the H.P. with an edge of the base perpendicular to
the V.P. A wire connects the mid-point of bottom edge of the front face to the mid-
point of the top edge of the opposite face by passing over the surfaces of the
frustum by the shortest distance. Draw the projections of the frustum and show path
of the wire in the front view, top view and the development.
7. A square prism of base side 30 mm and axis 60 mm is resting on its base on the H.P.
with a rectangular face parallel to the V.P. Draw the development of the prism

2. Draw the isometric view of a circular lamina of diameter 50 mm on all the
three principal planes using four centre method.

mm. The prism is resting on its base on the H.P. with an edge of the base
parallel to the V.P
4. A hexagonal prism of base side 30 mm and axis 70 mm is resting on its base
on the H.P. with a side of the base parallel to the V.P. It is cut by an A.I.P.
inclined at 45° to the H.P. and bisecting the axis. Draw its isometric view
5. Draw the isometric view of a cylinder of base diameter 50 mm and axis 60
