she plant so many tiger lilies in her garden?
Ans – Louisa Mebbin blackmailed Mrs Packletide to get her week-end cottage
to keep her mouth shut about the fact that the tiger had not actually been killed
by her and died due to heart failure , She planted tiger lilies in the garden
because they were symbolic of how she had managed to get the cottage ie due
to a tiger.

Ans The given lines have been spoken by Mrs Packletide. She is referring to the
heavy expenses she had to bear for the tiger hunt. She had willingly paid the
villagers to arrange for the tiger hunt but she had to pay Louisa Mebbin at the
end to keep her mouth shut about what actually killed the tiger .This put a heavy
burden on her pocket.

Ans Yes , the silent figure of Loona Bimberton in the background plays a
crucial role in the story. The main action of the story is driven by Mrs
Packletide’s desire to out- run Loona Bimberton ‘s fame . Later , the fear of
revelation of the truth to Loona Bimberton puts Mrs Packletide in a bad spot
and she not only has to buy a cottage for Miss Mebbin but she also gives up
