Peanut butter is very popular in the USA. It’s got any / a lot of protein and vitamins,
so it’s good for vegetarians and vegans. However, it’s also got 1 lots of / many salt
and 2 lots of / much calories. But do you know how many people are allergic to
peanuts? About 3 million Americans, including 1.2 million children!
How 3 much / some peanut butter can these people eat? None at all!
Even 4 a few / a little bit of peanut butter is too 5 many / much for them. They can
suffer from a severe allergic reaction that can cause death. So they have to carry
a special auto-injector with adrenaline in it that looks like a pen or a marker.
Using it can save their lives!
Teen hero saves friend from peanut danger
13-year-old Timothy Sullivan has received a hero’s award after helping to save his
classmate’s life on a school trip. Timothy helped Haidar Faraj, who has a severe
peanut allergy.
The boys were on a school trip to Canoe Lake Park in New Hampshire, USA, when
Haidar said he couldn’t breathe. He didn’t eat 6 any / much peanuts, but he ate

any / some chips which were cooked in peanut oil. Haidar knew that he was
allergic to peanuts so he carried an auto-injector, but he didn’t know how to use it.
Fortunately, Timothy knew what to do because he learnt first aid while he was at
summer camp. Soon after helping his friend with the auto-injector, Haidar could
breathe normally again. He was taken to hospital and went home

a few / a little hours later. Timothy was given the hero award by Police Chief John
Carmichael, who visited his school. He was in a PE class when the police officer
walked towards him. At first, Timothy thought he was in 9 a lot of / many trouble!
But then, he felt very proud to get the award. He was also given 10 some / much
free cinema tickets. Timothy was glad that he knew how to help his friend. There
are 11 any / a lot of people who suffer from severe allergies, but there aren’t enough
people who know what to do in an emergency!
