Objectives

The primary goal of the Literacy Remediation Program is to support learners who can
read text but exhibit difficulty in understanding, interpreting, and applying the
information they read. The school based program primarily focused on enhancing
reading comprehension through structured interventions using Learners' Activity
Sheets (LAS) and Reading Activity Sheets (RAS).

1. To improve learners’ comprehension skills through guided reading activities.


2. To develop higher-order thinking skills such as inference, summarization, and
prediction.
3. To increase learners’ confidence and interest in reading

Key Results  The remediation program offers a more relaxed and
conducive environment which allow learners to concentrate
more on their studies without the usual pressures of regular
school days. This approach helps in reinforcing their
knowledge and skills leading to better academic outcomes.

Panasahan Elementary School headed by our principal Maam Marichu C. Manaloto and
seven NLC teachers namely: Sheila T. Ramos, Joyce Ann M. Borlongan, Ma. Teresa F.
Bulaong, Angelie H. Espino, Regina J. Matito, Myrasol M. Adriano and Teresita A,
Pineda attended the said online orientation. The activity aims to orient the teachers on
the implementation of the Literacy Remediation Program as well as to prepare the
participating school in the implementation of the Department of Education End of School
Year program.

Parents of the participants to this activity (LRP) were invited in the school for the
orientation. The objectives of the program were tackled to them. They were also asked to
fill out the registration form and sign the letter of consent if they will allow their child to
join the activity.

May 14, 2025 – Marks the beginning of the 20-day Literacy Remediation Program.
Learners were excited and eager to learn many things, so they participated and gave
their part in every activity that we had for the day. The learning activities focused on

learning areas namely Reading and Literacy. Its goal is to help learners who are
struggling in reading which are needed skills to be mastered for them to be ready for the
next grade level.
The following were some of the activities done by the learners.

Week 1 – May 13- 16, 2024

To check the progress of the pupils, they were asked to answer learning activity sheets
(LAS) after the discussion. In this activity, learners were eager to prove that they have
learned something from the day-to-day activities. The following pictures show that

learners enjoyed what they were doing.

After the 3 days explicit teaching instruction and learning sessions, teachers reviewed
how learners performed in class, how they reacted to the lesson, and how the content
was presented to the learners. They evaluated the 3 day-sessions by giving feedback on
what has transpired in the whole week. The following pictures showed how the LRP’s
assessed the learner’s progress.

Planning for the whole week’s activities was done every Friday. Literacy Remediation
Program Volunteers sat down to discuss the lessons to be delivered for the whole week.
We also talked about what techniques/strategies are best to ensure the learnings of the
learners . Learning Materials were also prepared by LRP volunteers including the printing
of the activity sheets of the learners. The following pictures show how the LRP’s worked
cooperatively.
