Step 1: App Selection

Name of the app:WhatsApp

Purpose of the app : A messaging app that allows users to send texts, voice messages, make calls, share
media, and more.

Target audience : General users, businesses, and organizations that need communication.

Core Features:

 Text and voice messaging

 Voice and video calls
 Status updates (similar to Stories)
 Group chats and communities
 Media sharing (images, videos, documents)
 End-to-end encryption for security

Step 2: UI & UX Analysis

1. UI (User Interface) Evaluation

Visual design:

 WhatsApp keeps a clean and good design with a green-and-white color scheme.
 It’s consistent across platforms (Android, iOS, desktop).
 Dark mode is available for user preference.

Typography:

 Typography is simple and readable, but the small message timestamp is a bit too light.

Layout and spacing:

 Chats, Status, Calls are clearly separated in tabs for easy access.
 Spacing is balanced — not too cramped or too spaced out.
 The Settings and Archived sections feel a bit hidden in submenus, which could be harder for
new user to locate

2. UX (User Experience) Evaluation

Usability:

 Sending messages, photos, or voice notes is quick and intuitive.

 Group creation is simple, but advanced features (like group privacy settings or broadcast lists)
require more effort to locate.
 Some users may find switching between personal and business accounts a bit clunky.

Navigation:

 Moving between chats, calls, and statuses is smooth with swipe gestures or tab clicks.

Performance:

 Generally fast and reliable, even on slower networks.

 Occasional slow loading for large media files or when restoring from backup.
 Voice and video calls are stable, but quality drops on poor connections.

Step 3: Identify Problems & Justify Findings

1. Hidden settings and features:

 Archived chats and Starred messages are not found easily in the menus, which slows down
access.
 Suggestion: Add a quick-access icon or a more prominent section in the main UI.
2. Complex group features:
 Creating groups is easy, but managing permissions, privacy, and broadcast lists is less
straightforward.
 Suggestion: Simplify group settings with clearer labels or onboarding tips.
3. Message status readability:
 Timestamps and "Seen" indicators use light, small fonts that may be hard to read, especially for
users with visual impairments.
 Suggestion: Improve contrast and allow customization of text size for better accessibility.
4. Media loading delays:
 Large images or videos sometimes lag, especially in areas with poor networks.
 Suggestion: (e.g., show a lower-quality version first) for faster preview
