5. Statement of Objective:
i. Please indicate as to why you wish to join IIT(BHU)(not more than 500 words)
IIT BHU is one of the few institutes in India where teaching and research go hand in hand. The institute has shown rapid growth over the years in the field of
technical education and research, thereby contributing towards academia, industry, and society as a whole. Given a chance to be a faculty member at IIT BHU, I
wish to explore the emerging area of transmit power allocation in multiple wireless communication system in a broader sense and as my primary research area,
which is still untouched by IIT BHU’s core research areas. Exploiting channel state information at the transmitter to allocate total available transmit power across
the transmit antennas with the help of feedback link seems to be one of the most emerging fields in near future. This fundamental approach is also gaining
attention in the other wireless communication systems such as free space optical communication, physical layer security, etc. However, the feedback information
overburdens the link for large scale MIMO wireless systems. Thus, it is imperative to study and explore the techniques to reduce burden on the feedback link.
Further, delay in the feedback link may deteriorate the performance of the wireless communication system. Thereby, delay and error tolerant schemes need to
develop to utilize the feedback information. As a faculty member of IIT BHU, I will help to diversify the research area of the institute by initiating the intensive
research on this emerging field. Furthermore, based on my research expertise, I can develop a few advanced courses on MIMO wireless communication and
optical-wireless communication to strengthen the curriculum of IIT BHU, according to state of-the-art research and industrial demands. Besides this, I find that this
emerging field can serve a number of good problem statements for the major projects of undergraduate and postgraduate students. This will definitely benefit the
students to shape their research strategies and will motivate them to pursue a bright career in research or a related industry. In addition, I will start writing various
project proposals based on my research expertise to get funding from different organizations to set-up a lab to enable experiments on MIMO wireless
communication. This will provide the student with an opportunity to gain experience in the practical set-up. My present foreign collaborators who have proficiency
in my current research field such as Prof. Olivier Berder and Dr. Baptiste Vrigneau, University of Rennes, France will support me and the institute from time to
time. These collaborations will also benefit the students of IIT BHU by giving them more opportunities to go to different institutions around the globe and to
explore state-of-the-art research in other areas. For me, IIT BHU is a place that will provide wings to my ideas and an opportunity to contribute to the growth of
the institute and the nation.
ii. How, in your opinion,do you meet the job requirements as advertised? (not more than 250 words)
Apart from the minimum qualification required for the post, i.e., PhD with first class at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic
record throughout, I have shown strong research capabilities in terms of publications in reputed peer reviewed journals. I have published research articles in
renowned IEEE journals and conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Communication Letters, IEEE Wireless Communication Letters,
IEEE/OSA Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, IEEE International Conference on Communications, etc. I have total 9 research articles out of
which 08 are published (5 journals and 3 conferences), 01 Conference accepted for publication, and 02 research articles (1 journal and 1 conference) are
currently under review. I am working as an assistant professor in Jaypee institute of information technology for more than a year. I have worked as a teaching
assistant in IIT Delhi during the tenure of my PhD and helped Prof. Manav Bhatnagar in courses such as MIMO Wireless Communications, Information Theory,
and Basics of Electrical Engineering Lab. Moreover, worked as an assistant professor for almost two years before joining the Ph.D. I believe that all these
experience is very useful for teaching the undergraduate and postgraduate courses of any reputed institute. In addition to this, I have a research collaboration
with well-known researchers. I believe that my knowledge, skills, and collaborations make me a suitable candidate for this post. I am confident that I can enhance
the research outcome and contribute to IIT BHU growth significantly.
iii. A short note (not more than 500 words) about the research and development projects you would like to undertake.
My keen interest in the field of feedback based precoding for MIMO wireless communication systems using feedback information never let me settle with a trivial
problem. I have always kept myself updated with the latest advancements in this field. During the tenure of my PhD, I not only worked on my research topic but
also tried to explore the boundless opportunities and challenges of the developed schemes in other fields such as free space optical (FSO) wireless
communication systems and physical layer security. Therefore, I am very well aware of the research problems, challenges and strategies to deal with those
problems. I can assure you that for the next few years, I have many research problems to tackle in the field of RF MIMO wireless communication systems, FSO,
and physical layer security which will be a significant contribution towards communication society. I would like to take research and development (R&D) projects
which will mainly focused on developing new schemes, in order to deal with link and delay and error in the feedback information. The number of required
feedback bits increases significantly and it also involves complicated order statistics for optimum power allocation. These issues motivate to investigate deeper
into the area of clustering of antennas and study the trade-off between the size of clusters (i.e., number of antennas per cluster) and number of feedback bits for
different application scenarios. The following research statements could be the possible objectives for future R&D projects: (a) Develop imperfect feedback based
cluster selection schemes with reduced feedback bits to minimize the delay and feedback overhead. (b) Analyze the performance of the developed schemes,
quantify the feedback reduction, and determine which scheme gives the best trade- off between performance and feedback requirement for different application
scenarios. (c) Investigate the secrecy performance of the developed schemes. (d) Performance analysis of traditional point-to-point cooperative communication
system based on developed schemes. (e) Study the above developed schemes in the application of high speed 5G technologies, e.g., indoor and outdoor free
space optical (FSO) communication systems. In order to improve quality of service, large number of antennas need to be deploy at the transmitter side and the
receiver side. However, for large-scale MIMO systems it is not always feasible to provide full CSI at the transmitter (CSIT), due to the channel bandwidth
constraint. The first two objectives of this project are developed by keeping in mind these issues, where the best trade- off between performance and feedback
requirement for different application scenarios will be analysed. Since the wireless communication systems are vulnerable to the eavesdropping, by considering
this fact the third objective will be focussed on investigating the secrecy performance of the developed schemes over wiretap communication systems. Further in
the fourth objective the performance of the developed schemes will be analysed over the distributed relay based system in order to improve the coverage of the
system. The study of the last objective is very relevant for future generation wireless communication systems.
iv. A short note (not more than 250 words) about the courses that you would like to teach at UG and PG lavels. Select courses from the approved syllabus of the
concerned Department/School.
I have seen the course works offered by IIT BHU in the website. I can teach all the major subjects of electronics and communication, like signal and system,
analog communication, digital communication, basic electronics etc. I just need to revise these subjects. However, since I was mainly in touch with signal
processing and communication system, I can teach following subjects right after joining the IIT, if selected: UG Courses 1) DC.EC.311.16: Digital Communication
2) DC.EC. 202.16: Signals and Systems 3) DC.EC. 211.16: Analogue Communication Systems PG Courses 1) EC512 Information Theory & Coding 2) EC551
Detection & Estimation Courses that I can develop immediately after joining: 1) MIMO Wireless Communications 2) Machine learning
I hereby declared thet I have carefully read and understood the instructions and particulars for the post I am applying. Further,I also declare thet
all enteries in this form as entries in this form as well form as the attchaed sheets are true to the my knowledge and belief.
