o’clock on her bicycle and covered a distance of 6 km in 40 minutes. At that point,
she met Sudha and she spoke to her for 5 minutes and reached Amina’s birthday
party at 7 o’clock.
a. Calculate her average speed for the entire journey.
b. Draw the distance time graph for the 5 minutes, when she was speaking to Sudha.
39. Amazon Rainforest is the largest forest found in the world. It is situated in the South 4
American continent. These forests are home to thousands of animal and plant species
that are not found anywhere else. Several unique human cultures of traditional
communities are also associated with them. Fires in the Rainforest are uncommon.
Most of the fires that occur in Amazon are man-made and not natural. However,
temperatures in this region have also been on a rise. Mostly these are done
intentionally to clear the land for personal use, agriculture etc.
a. Why do you think that Amazon is not naturally prone to fires?
b. Loss of forests is a serious issue-it is a loss of an invaluable resource and
cultures found nowhere else. Elaborate.
c. Suggest at least two human activities that can lead to depletion of forests.
