Summary
As Halloween arrives, a new horrible killer catches the attention of the investigators.
Notes
Here's the next part, i freely admit to wanting to write a fic that is a crossover with this series.
Mainly because I fell in love with 1800 series when I first read a book from said series. The
mystery aspect appealed to me greatly.
Prologue
Chapter Summary
Bucky and Steve get their kids ready for the upcoming holiday.
Chapter Notes
It was October 2024. Halloween was around the corner. Colorful leaves bloomed on the trees
in the shades of fiery red, sunny orange, golden yellow, and brown. Haunted houses
advertised their attractions while the movie theater put together classic Universal horror
showings. Everyone was in the mood for a scare.
the family room, Bucky and Steve's place, Brooklyn, New York City, New York;
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. They cuddled up as they discussed Halloween. The
kids were excited and picking their costumes. Fourteen year old Isobel had plans to attend her
school dance, while the younger kids planned to go trick and treating.
"Have the kids decided on their costumes yet?" Bucky asked Steve.
"That's a lot of options," Bucky said, "Want me to take over some of the costumes?"
"Yes, thank you. I am still trying to get Fuyumi's dress done and we are behind planning for
the Halloween party the weekend before," Steve said. He kissed his husband and looked at
his phone.
"Well, that is Sam. Natsuo is joining his nephews in being soccer players," Steve smiled.
Route 66, I-80, Illinois;
Elsewhere, things wasn't as peaceful. A businessman laid dead on the floor of his study. His
glass of scotch was broken and spilled over on the perfect hardwood floor. In the room next
door, his two other children were asleep. However, the youngest child was nowhere to be
found.
He laid in the back of a car, scared, tied up, and riding down a highway with his father's
killer.
Missing Child
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
Two days later, Lance, Bobbi, Pietro, Wanda, Bucky, and Steve filed off the plane and met
Jess Mastriani and Rob Wilkins. They would be their contacts on this particular case. They
stepped off the plane with their go bags and equipment.
"Welcome to our city," Mastriani greeted. She shook hands with all of them. "This is my
partner Rob Wilkins. Have a safe trip?"
"It was easy," Steve replied. "We read through the information you sent us. Where do we
want to meet?"
"Follow us," Wilkins spoke up. "We will take you to your accommodations. first."
a conference room, SHIELD headquarters, Brooklyn, New York, the prior day;
Legacy was called to a secure conference room. They filed in and met Nick Fury and Phil
Coulson. Both men were serious. They had stacks of files in front of them, and Coulson slid
them down the table.
"We have a serial killer on the loose in Illinois," Fury began. "A man, Elliot Norton, was
found murdered in his house. Two of his children was left unharmed, but the other child was
missing."
Coulson added, "The children, Deanna and Marcy, confirmed their brother, George, was
taken by the serial killer. This is the third murder of a parental figure in the past month. Every
time, a child was kidnapped."
a local diner;
Rob and Jess went out for lunch. The pair stopped at their usual diner for a sandwich and
salad. The pair talked some as the time passed. With their guests getting checked into their
accommodations, they had some time.
"Do you think they can help us break this one wide open?" Rob asked.
Jess nodded, "They stopped a smuggling ring in Germany a few years ago. Halted an entire
criminal enterprise."
"Many times," Jess reassured. "They are the best. We take the lead, but they will help us get
through the hard parts."
Rob sighed. He struggled to give up control. As he raised his hand to get the check, he hoped
things would work out. For George's sake.
a coffee shop;
A group of eight people met up. They were four men and four women. They were on edge
with the news of George's kidnapping and Elliot's murder. They went to see George's younger
sister; Linnea, who had custody of the children for the time being.
Donovan and Teedra Archuletta waited for their friends to arrive. Alexandria, and her wife,
Cameron arrived not long after they made it to the coffee shop. They were soon followed by
husbands, Jordan and Mitchell, and siblings Katherine and Stephen. All of them worked with
Elliot and his late wife, Belinda in the past. Now, they were left to remember their friend, his
gruesome death, and his missing child.
Walk Through
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
Rob and Jess brought Legacy to Eliott's home. Linnea had taken her nieces' things from the
place. Yellow tape marked off the front door. Ducking under it, they were led right to the
murder scene.
As if frozen in time, large patches of blood stained the hardwood floor and expensive Persian
carpet. Papers were strewn all over the room and books were tossed around. According to the
police report, that was Elliot most likely trying to save himself.
"Take your time," Jess said. "We can walk through it with you all, but the crime scene
technicians are still processing what samples they took."
Bucky replied, "Thank you. Everyone, look around. Figure out the point of entry."
a local diner;
Lance and Bobbi went out for lunch. The couple stepped out of their hotel to have dinner in
the local diner. They ordered regular all-American burgers and fries. They sipped on their
iced tea and talked about something that wasn't the case for a bit. They needed to mentally
prepare for what they would have to deal with.
Bucky and Steve talked with Sarah and the kids over Skype. The kids were all so excited to
see their parents. It had only been a day, but they already missed their family. While Isobel
and Touya were more aware of their parents' work, the younger kids only knew they were at
work.
The pair just listened to their kids talk about their day. Once the kids ran off, Sarah caught
them up on her hobbies and anything that came up. Something as simple as a video call,
helped them relax before they really got into the case.
a secret location;
Elsewhere, someone from the friend group was on the phone talking with their accomplice.
They filled their partner in on the ongoing investigation. The new arrivals alarmed them.
"They have brought in that team from SHIELD," the partner stated. The other criminal
looked up from their tea. They spared a glance at the small room in the corner of the building.
It finally fell silent after a lot of movement and whining from their new guest.
"We know what to do if they get too close," the killer warned. They had contingencies for
things like this.
Background
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
The detectives started their investigation by meeting with Elliott's friends and coworkers.
They were still shell-shocked by their friend's murder and the kidnapping. Their town had
very little violent crime, making these recent homicides all the more shocking.
"Elliot and Belinda were such a sweet couple. Their kids were helpful and had many friends.
I can't imagine what they are going through," a pastor stated. They met the man at his
psychology office when he was off. He filled them in on the couple and their family.
Elliot and Belinda were both hard workers that regularly worked with charities and
volunteered. They were well loved by the community and kept to themselves for the most
part. Elliot's murder and George's kidnapping rocked their community.
Bucky and Steve's hotel room, Legacy hotel suite, a local hotel;
Bucky and Steve had some alone time in their hotel room. They traded kisses while
undressing each other. When they were naked, they got on the bed with the lube. Bucky
kissed down Steve's body, making him moan. Things rapidly grew heated and Bucky got the
lube and slicked up his fingers. He prepped Steve with care.
When Bucky deemed Steve ready, he slicked himself up and got in between Steve's thighs.
He pushed inside. The pace was slow and steady as Bucky dragged it out. A long time later,
he took pity on his husband and sped up the pace, while stroking him. A few minutes later,
Steve spilled his seed across their chests. A few more minutes later, Bucky fell over the edge
and spilled his seed deep inside his husband. As they came down from their highs, they
couldn't stop kissing.
the living room, Barton farm, Missouri;
Clint and Laura bonded with their kids; Cooper, Lila, and Nate. The kids finished their
schoolwork early. Laura put on their favorite game in the living room and played along with
the kids. The family all took turns playing the Mario mini games. It was a wonderful
afternoon of family fun and great times.
a local pizzeria;
Lance and Bobbi went out for dinner. The couple went to a pizza shop to finally try the
Chicago style pizza. It was heavy and thick with rich sauce and plenty of cheese. It was
definitely something they would need to get used to, but the pizza was delicious. They
laughed and spent some quality time with each other.
Organization
Chapter Summary
The team, Rob, and Jess put together what evidence they already have.
Chapter Notes
Legacy, Rob, and Jess began their investigation. The team sat down to go over the
information provided. There were thick folders of information, but it was all in a disarray.
First step was to organize the information and create a clear timeline of murders and
kidnappings. Then, they could figure it all out.
the kitchen, Sarah's place, Brooklyn, New York City, New York;
Sarah, Isobel, Touya, Yumi, Natsu, Sho, and Luna sat down to breakfast. Sarah put on some
music as she cooked big stacks of pancakes with plenty of fruit and preserves. There were
also some eggs and juice ready. The order kids helped her set the table and get everyone else
down.
Breakfast was filled with the clink of forks and knives with some talk. The music continued
to play and filled the room. The kids and their grandmother made beautiful memories.
Elliot's killer met with their partner in secret. They stopped in a seedy bar, the room filled
with smoke and the smell of cheap liquor. They sat in a dark corner, just nursing two drinks.
"How long are we going to keep this one?" their accomplice asked, chugging the beer.
"When the time is right, we will do something with him. For now, we lay low and keep things
quiet."
The accomplice didn't like that answer, but they wasn't going to stop him. They just needed to
bid their time and cut their losses if this all falls apart.
Korean restaurant;
Lance and Bobbi went on a date. The couple stepped out to get dinner at a small Korean
restaurant. They enjoyed the tofu stew and vegetarian mandu. The couple talked and just
enjoyed some alone time together. It was a much needed night out before the case really got
going.
Connections
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
The detectives had a meeting. Time to put together the suspect list. After digging through the
backgrounds of all of the families, adults that worked with the parents, or any teachers that
worked with the children, they were able to come to a clear list. Now, it was just a matter of
filling in these people's backgrounds.
"Donovan and Teedra are teachers at the children's school. Donovan teaches art, and Teedra
teaches math," Jess explained. "Alexandria and Cameron have two kids of their own that go
to the same daycare as the infant."
"Business partners with Elliott," Rob answered. "Katherine and Stephen work with Belinda."
"Stephen is a widower. Belinda and Elliott would help him with his children according to
schools staff," Lance said.
"Any outward hostility?" Bucky asked. The group shook their head.
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. The pair set their folders in the lockbox of their hotel.
They then fell onto the couch, resting for a moment. They went all around town, asking
questions and trying to gather surveillance information. Now, all they wanted to do was catch
their breath and get their bearings.
the office, the police station;
Legacy, Rob, and Jess hung out. They all met back at the office in the police station. They sat
in the room, talking and getting to know each other. It was clear they didn't fully know each
other, but they wanted to make this work for the sake of solving the case and getting the
young boy back safely.
sports bar;
Rob and Jess went on a date. The detectives stepped out of their work and went to the sports
bar down the street. They ordered the buffalo wings and their own sides with beers. As the
night rolled on, they got really into the hockey match that was playing on every TV. Nothing
was better than a date night where they had good food and fun.
More to Find
Chapter Summary
The team and detectives turn in their initial report to the FBI.
Chapter Notes
The detectives had a meeting. The ME report came back on Elliott. A copy was given to
every person at the table, and they all took the time to read through it.
“Exsanguination caused by deep stab wounds,” Bobbi read. “That tracks with the crime
scene.”
“He had ligature marks on his wrist and ankles,” Steve said, pointing to the illustration of a
nude man. Dashed lines were etched on his ankles and wrists.
“There was no rope at the scene,” Jess explained. “So we are looking for someone that likes
to subdue their target.”
“For long periods of time,” Lance added. “ME made a note that the bruising is likely from a
long period of restraint.”
“That helps a lot actually,” Bucky said. They looked around the room.
a local restaurant;
Lance and Bobbi went out for a lunch date. They went to a delicious restaurant that served
the best Italian beef sandwich in the city. They enjoyed the sandwich with crispy hot fries and
ice cold beer. The couple laughed and joked around in their booth, having a wonderful time
together.
“This is just the beginning,” Rob said. “I think there is more to find.”
Donovan, Teedra, Alexandria, Cameron, Jordan, Mitchell, Katherine, and Stephen met up.
They were all on edge. The police were still searching for the killer, but they weren’t any
closer to an answer. The children did not return to school as they were taken in by Elliott’s
older sister.
“I am going to lose my mind if they don’t find these guys soon,” Donovan sighed. “Everyone
else at the school is terrified.”
“The whole town is on a knife’s edge,” Stephen said. “We need to talk to the police.”
“About what? We know nothing about what is going on?” Katherine asked.
That was the worst part. They dealt either grief but the lack of answers just made it worse.
They needed something to give and soon.
Vision and Wanda talked over Skype. They missed each other dearly. With the likeliness of
the killer possibly striking again, Wanda’s time was extended. Still, Vision made it a point to
call.
“I am here at any time, my love,” he reassured. Wanda smiled and happily blew a kiss to
him.
Next Lead
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
A few days later, the detectives were still investigating the murders. They had come away
with some leads. Another analysis of the crime scene brought up some sections of rope.
Unfortunately, there was no DNA but the victim’s on the tight rope. However, it was still
crucial.
After finding the rope, they were able to find the store. The cashier remembered selling large
lengths of it to a single man.
“I thought he was doing some kind of construction. Only big purchases like that come from
home construction,” the young man said when they asked. While they couldn’t get video
camera footage, they did get a description.
Portillos;
Rob and Jess went for a lunch date. The couple stepped out for hot dogs and fries. The pair
finished the meal and then took a walk. They knew today would be long with the new
information they received. They needed to get to work.
Bucky and Steve face timed with their kids. Sarah set up her computer for all of them to talk.
Steve beamed and blew kisses at their kids. The kids giggled and blew their own kisses.
“What have you and grandma been up to?” Steve asked. The kids launched into their
weekend trips, new desserts, movie nights, and new books. The parents beamed and listened
to their excitement.
an alley, downtown;
"I know. You helped kill Elliott and took George. How could you?!" their friend accused.
"I don't know what you're talking about." the partner lied.
"I have proof." came the retort. She pulled out pictures. “From the camera outside their
house. Elliott stored it on the business computers!”
She didn’t have much time to reply before a knife met her stomach. Stab after stab penetrated
her abdomen and she could only choke up blood. Her body crumpled to the ground and the
partner made a run for it.

the alley;
The detectives arrived at the alley. Yellow tape cut off people from simply walking into the
scene. The officer kept watch and turned away anyone coming to take a look. The group was
careful to watch their steps.
“God, the killer attacked her,” Lance winced. They could clearly see the large pool of blood
that soaked her abdomen. Her body was covered again as the ME brought over the gurney.
“Crime techs have gotten as many samples as they can. I need to get her to my office before
it rains,” she said. The team nodded and stepped out of the way.
Bucky and Steve's hotel room, Legacy hotel suite, a local hotel;
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. The pair rigorously researched Alexandra's
background beyond her surface level work. There was no sign of corruption, arrests, or
present enemies. However, the killing was too brutal to just be an act of random violence.
This was personal.
The couple settled in their room, taking some time before they would meet the others for
dinner. They needed a minute to take a deep breath. If they weren't mindful of their mental
state, it could negatively affect the case investigation.
The partner defended, “She knew! She had photos of your car on her phone.”
“You were still sloppy!” the killer scolded. "Now, they know it is connected to one of us
because she was connected to one of us."
The partner huffed and stormed off. They weren't going to take that. They weren't going to sit
there as they were scolded like a child. There was too much to do to let this little misstep ruin
everything.
Rob and Jess had some alone time. The pair made it back to their apartment around midnight.
They left their files at their desks, not wanting to bring those photos to their home. Rob
poured them each a glass of wine while Jess put a pizza in the oven.
They sat on the couch, eating the whole pizza and drinking half the bottle. The couple just let
the TV, set on the local news, relax them. Before long, they had to get up and take a shower
before calling it a night.
New Direction
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
The detectives met with the FBI. The stakes were even higher, and they needed to loop the
agency in. The press was running with the story of a serial killer, and while not totally off, it
was becoming clear these murders were personal. Still, the FBI had additional resources that
could make their investigation easier.
"The murder was not planned," Jess started. "From the stab wounds and lack of concealment,
we feel this was a crime of passion connected to the child kidnappings and family murders."
An agent asked, "Do you think this is actually connected to their friends? This crime of
passion could just be a one-off coincidence."
Wanda shook her head, "Nothing like this can be a coincidence. A man is murdered and his
son is taken. His wife's coworker is then murdered in an alley not far from their homes. All of
it leads back to the friends."
The lead agent read the full file and nodded. "Okay. We'll pursue that angle. Maybe then we
can get some clear answers."
Teedra, Donovan, Jordan, Mitchell, Katherine, and Stephen met up at Cameron and
Alexandria's place. They consoled their friend. Cameron was distraught and the others
struggled to console him. The sudden death hit them when a member of Legacy visited them
to give the death notice and bring them to the morgue for identification.
Donovan and Jordan helped Cameron to the bedroom after feeding him a small meal of
grapes and cheese with water. They also saw to their confused young children. The others
just silently stood guard, stuck in time as they came to terms with the horrible event.
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. The couple went back to their room after dismissing
everyone. The FBI had some agents working overnight to identify leads, giving them time to
eat and rest. After eating dinner with some of the team, they hopped in the shower and
cleaned off.
Steve was already fast asleep by the time Bucky came out of the shower. Smiling, he kissed
his husband and cuddled up against him. With the whole room dark except for the full moon,
he drifted to sleep.
Lance and Bobbi had a date night in their hotel room suite. They ordered the lobster and
steak dinner with a shared side of braised potatoes. The coup enjoyed the meal as some music
played from Lance's phone. They used the time they had to unwind and take some time for
just them.
Personal
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
Here's Ch 10 at long last. Sorry for the delay, I had other fics that needed to be focused
on. Ch 11-13 will be posted next.
The detectives had a meeting. The ME report came back on Alexandria. Cause of death was
severe blood loss causes by repeated stab wounds. She never stood a chance of survival.
“This is personal,” Sam said. “No one stabs that much without feeling some form of personal
anger.”
Steve nodded, “We don’t have much evidence directly connecting someone. No surviving
DNA was found on the body despite how clearly unplanned it is.”
“Couldn’t hurt to look back at the friends and family,” Bobbi suggested.
taco stand;
Lance and Bobbi went on a date. The couple stepped out to get a quick bite to eat. They
found a taco stand that also sold fresh horchata and agua fresca. The couple, craving good
food and a break, ordered four carne tacos each and one of each drink.
The couple sat on a bench and ate their meal. People passed them and went about their days.
Lance and Bobbi were in their own little, delicious world.
Scott and Hope bonded with Kaina, Cassie, Keigo, and Fumikage. The kids wanted to go to
the library. It became a tradition to visit either a library or a bookstore in each destination.
The kids read the books and got some small souvenirs like bookmarks and local newsletters.
Scott and Hope enjoyed their own books, and they all had a wonderful time.
Elsewhere, the killer met up with their partner. They met at a third place far away from their
homes. The partner looked panicked and disgusted.
“They will link us to this if you don’t get a grip,” the partner warned.
“I know you didn’t. You’re not an idiot,” the partner sneered. “Don’t make me regret that.”
Vision and Wanda talked over Skype. The couple spent part of their night getting ready for
bed. Although Vision never really slept like humans did, he still enjoyed a rest for optimal
function. Plus, he loved watching Wanda work through her routine.
Chapter Notes
A few days later, the detectives were able to eliminate two more names. Jordan and Mitchell
both had an air tight alibi for their friend's murder. The men were in a meeting with a
financial advisor and the secretary and two other partners gave them a clear alibi. CCTV then
further confirmed the time they arrived and left.
"They would have been caught with four different cameras if they left early," Jess stated.
"That takes two off our large list."
Steve nodded, "Good, that means we can focus our energy on the others. I'll call in a favor at
the FBI."
Donovan and Teedra met Cameron, Katherine, Stephen, Jordan, and Mitchell. They all
attended Elliott's funeral. His funeral was delayed after Alexandra was murdered. His sister
Linnea wanted to give them space to grieve before putting them on the spot as pall-barers.
"I am so tired of crying," Katherine sniffled, wiping her eyes. Her face was still sheet white,
exhausted from the pain and suffering they'd all endured. Her head rest on Teedra's shoulder
and Donovan kept her upright with a hand on her upper back.
"I just wish we had more answers," Cameron sighed. "Feels like nothing has changed. It's
been three weeks."
"The police will come around again," Mitchell reassured. "They've been questioning
everyone all over again. Maybe they know more than they are letting on."
the lounge area, the police station;
Legacy got together for dinner. Files were set aside to make space for boxes of takeout. They
all got takeout from the Korean restaurant that is between the office and their hotel. There
were bowls of bibimbap, blood sausage, galbi, garlic honey wings, and cheesy tteokbokki.
All of it was served with a light broth and kimchi. The team needed the fuel to continue their
investigation.
Running Out of Time
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
The detectives, after attending Elliott's funeral, continued the investigation. With two names
off the list, and another dead suspect, the list was narrowed. However, the team was running
out of time. It seemed whoever was killing was moving fast which couldn't end well for
George. There were no signs of the child, and they did not want to pivot from rescue to
recovery.
"We are running out of time. We have proof of life, but we cannot piece together where
George is. It won't be long until the kidnapper can't provide the proof of life." Steve spoke.
"What if Alexandra figured that out?" Bucky suggested. "That's why she was with the killer?"
"Let's look into her final days. Maybe something will be there." Steve said. The group got to
work, preparing questions for friends and family. Rebuilding her last days may be their only
hope.
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. The couple put away the files. They were able to
piece together some of the information, but their heads started to hurt. Hours of working
without food was not the smartest idea.
"I think we need to get some food and take a long break," Steve sighed. Bucky nodded and
cuddled him even closer. He flipped through the room service magazine and placed an order
on the hotel app.
Later that night, Bucky and Steve over Skype with their kids. The kids were excited to hear
from their parents and recounted all of their trips and events from the day. It was a lot of fun
to see their kids laugh and joke around, but they wished they could be home with them.
"Soon," Bucky reassured the kids and himself. "We will be home soon."
The unholy duo met up. The police were circling like vultures, and they were risking so
much. Sitting around wasn't the answer, but they couldn't do anything to draw further
attention.
"We need to leave. Dump the brat, and get the hell out of here," the partner suggested. The
main killer shook their head.
"Not until we get what we want. What is the point of all of this if we run?"
"What is the point of this if we get caught?!" the partner yelled. The killer's fist clenched but
they stepped back. If they reacted the way they did before, they would surely be connected
and caught.
"End of discussion. We see this through," the killer said, walking away from their partner.
Keep Your Enemies Close
Chapter Summary
The detectives get a new package that breaks the case wide open.
Chapter Notes
Two weeks later, the team rushed into their meeting room. They were able to get a lead and
had a local officer chasing that lead. Meanwhile, they learned that Alexandra was at the post
office with a yellow package.
"We need to get to the post office. If she spoke with a worker, then we can possibly track that
package," Bucky said.
Bobbi was able to get information from a worker. They had a copy of the receipt. However,
something strange happened.
"It's for you, actually," the worker stated. Bobbi brought it back, and the group was shocked.
There was no need for the bomb squad since the package was mailed four days ago. It would
have exploded by now. When they opened the package, it revealed a map of the
neighborhood. Interestingly enough, it was of the neighborhood they sent the officer to
investigate. On the map was a big circle of an apartment building. Attached to it was a letter.
Jess read the letter.
"If you are reading this, I am either dead or in hiding. I must confess that my involvement is
not totally innocent, however, I cannot hide this information any longer." Bucky looked at the
rest of the letter,
"I know who helped kill Elliott and take George. I took the wrong phone and I discovered
what was true. All of what I could get is on the enclosed USB drive."
Pietro and Wanda's hotel room, Legacy hotel suite;
Vision and Wanda talked over Skype. The couple were trying to catch up with each other as
the day continued on. With a strong lead, Wanda was sure she would be home soon enough.
"I cannot wait to see you, my love," Vision smiled. Wanda beamed, her eyes full of light and
joy.
"I am counting down the days. Just you and me in our beautiful little home," she dreamed,
her voice filled with love and relief. Now, they were looking forward to it all.
Bucky and Steve had some alone time in their bedroom. They were on the bed naked and
kissing. Things grew heated and Bucky got the lube. He slicked up his fingers and prepared
Steve with care. Steve moaned as he melted into the bed.
When Bucky deemed Steve ready, he slicked himself up and pushed inside. The pace was
slow as Bucky took his time. A long time later, Bucky took pity on his love and sped up the
pace.
A few minutes later, Steve screamed as he spilled his seed across their chests. Bucky held out
for a few minutes more before falling over the edge and spilling his seed deep inside Steve.
As they came down from their highs, they shared a sweet kiss.
The twins talked over Skype with their friends in Brooklyn. They mentioned their lead. The
package had been very informative and confirmed their worst suspicions. After some
verifications and further digging, it was all but confirmed.
One of Elliot's closest friends was also his violent killer. Possibly even a serial killer.
Stroke of Luck
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
a warehouse;
The FBI and the detectives succeeded in rescuing George. By a stroke of luck, they were able
to locate the young boy at an abandoned building two hours away in another state. The lead
came from a real estate agent, looking to buy the property. He took a trip to the site and saw a
little boy, tied up but mostly healthy in a wooden box inside the warehouse floor.
"I just called," the real estate agent said when questioned. "I didn't think anyone else knew
that place existed. He told me his name was George."
"Did you see anyone else near the place?" an agent asked. The witness shook his head.
"Once I saw the little boy, I didn't go any further. I just called the tipline."
Legacy went on a field trip to the American Natural History Museum. They had fun walking
through the room of gems, the Egyptian exhibit, and many more. The FBI took over the case
for a bit as it became clear the boy was initially transported out of the state.
"They'll call us back in later," Steve warned. "Have your fun now."
Bucky and Steve went out for a lunch date. The others decided to stay at the museum, so the
couple went out on their own. They went to a sandwich shop, ordering roast beef on wheat
and pastrami on rye. The food was comforting and reminded them a lot of the little kosher
shop they ate at back in Brooklyn as children.
the offices, the police station, Riverbrook;
The detectives sat down to look at the USB disk. The FBI technician was able to preserve
what was on the drive for future prosecutions before handing it to the team. While George
was safe, they still had to find who killed Elliot.
Lance put the drive in his laptop and turned on the projector. As it focused, they looked at the
evidence.
"Found you!" Lance declared. "She knew! That's why she was killed!"
"We need to set a trap to make sure that everything is tied up." Bucky said. "If she was killed
for this, whoever did it knows they are running out of time."
Elliott's house;
The group set a trap. They arrived at Elliott's house and found hiding places. They waited an
hour before footsteps could be heard. The steps stopped before they heard rummaging.
"What are you looking for?" Steve said, flicking on the lights.
Evil
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
Regarding some of the information mentioned here, Katherine and Stephen are blood
siblings that got split up when their parents died. I know that social workers usually try
to keep siblings together, this is one of those cases where kids fell through the cracks.
The group had the partner and killer surrounded. Katherine glared at them. The group were
not surprised, but they were still a bit confused. Nothing they knew besides the evidence
made Katherine out to be a killer. Plus, her partner wasn't anyone they ever heard of until the
USB.
"You should have minded your own business!" Katherine yelled. Her partner, a middle-aged
man shook his head.
"No, let her talk, Arnold," Bobbi mocked. "Even though her girlfriend told us everything."
Pietro spoke up, "Exactly, one USB drive ruined your whole plot to ransom other foster
children."
"You know nothing!" Katherine yelled. "He didn't love George like we loved George. He
could never love him."
"He did," Wanda replied. "He fought hard to protect his son!"
"No!" she yelled back. "They misunderstand! The woman I loved misunderstood us, and I
had to kill her for it.'
Arnold pulled out a knife and pressed it to her neck, "Keep talking and I will slit your throat."
Elliott's house;
Legacy, Rob, and Jess eyed Katherine and Arnold. They didn't want to move too fast and risk
losing one of the killers. However, Arnold pulled back and held the knife out, realizing that
he was totally surrounded. Eventually, Katherine broke and confessed.
"George was one of many foster kids adopted by wealthy families," she said. 'Like Arnold
and I were. We were adopted by millionaires."
"Who abused you every day until you were able to emancipate yourselves," Lance filled in.
Arnold's face turned a fiery red, but he stayed in place, conflicted by shutting up his foster
sister or keeping his guard up.
"Every last parent you murdered and child you kidnapped and released," Bucky said. "You
thought there was also abuse."
"There always is!" Arnold yelled. "They don't see us as human because we aren't their real
kids."
"That is not true," Steve challenged. "We love the kids we adopted. Those parents loved their
kids."
"Because you were trying to get him alone!" Lance yelled. "We have the reports. We know
you tried to get him away from the school before, but it didn't work before you were
reported."
Katherine's face contorted as her mind started to spiral. "I am not scary. I wasn't scary to
Georgie."
Steve replied, "The first thing he said when we found him was 'Is the scary lady going to hurt
me?' He was afraid of you."
"You're awake!" Deanna added. His aunt pulled him into a hug, and he clung to them. The
police watching the door gave them the privacy they deserved.
The Chase
Chapter Summary
Chapter Notes
The heroes faced off against Katherine and Arnold. The pair were both clearly unstable.
Steve's words broke Katherine's world view while Arnold was stills tuck between fighting or
staying put. They were totally lost and overwhelmed, making them unpredictable.
Without a word, Arnold threw a brick at the group. They ducked, but it gave the killers time
to split up and run away. Steve and Bucky each took half the team with them as they chased
them through the parking lot next door before ending up at a warehouse nearby.
abandoned warehouse;
The team ran right after them, trying to avoid the crumbling structure of a long-abandoned
warehouse . Steve caught up fast to Katherine, knocking her down. Her hand flew to her
pocket, but Sam got to her first.
"Oh no you don't!" he said, pinning her hand down. He reached in and pulled out a knife, still
stained in blood.
"Another piece of evidence," Pietro observed. Their attention was taken away as thudding
footsteps rushed to them.
Arnold accidentally cornered himself as he tried to slide and turn. However, Bucky tackled
him down, knocking the air out of his chest and the knife out of his hand.
"We head home later this week!" she revealed. "We got the killers and the FBI are taking our
statements tomorrow."
"Perfect! I was planning to make a new recipe, and I need a taste tester," Vision replied.
"Oh, you don't miss me?" Wanda fake pouted. Vision shook his head.
"That is a given, my love," he replied. "I just need your opinion. Your brother will eat
anything, so I want your honesty."
In the aftermath, the FBI met with the detectives. They met at the local office, bringing the
detectives in to finish their statements. After that was done five hours later, they finally got to
talk outside of the case.
"Thank you for your help. You stopped someone that would terrorize even more families,"
Jess said.
Rob nodded, "There are millions of foster kids with hundred of thousands adopted by their
foster families. Who knows who else would be harmed."
"We are just glad we can help," Steve said. This all hit home. He would give his children
extra hugs and kisses when they got home.

Donovan held her hand and kissed her knuckles. The group got a drink at their local bar,
taking a moment to seek comfort in a strong whiskey. Everything felt like it was crashing
down around them, but they needed to be strong.
"We need to be there for Georgie and his family," Mitchell said. "They need us the most."
O'Hare airport;
Kyle and Becca brought the kids to Illinois. They got off the plane and got their bags. A few
minutes later, they hailed a taxi and headed to the hotel where Legacy was staying. The team
didn't know the kids were also coming as they only expected Kyle and Becca.
"Ready to surprise your parents?" Kyle said. The kids cheered and walked through the lobby
with their aunt and uncle.
a local park;
Lance and Bobbi went on a date. The couple wanted to enjoy more of their food tour before
they returned home. While the deep dish pizza was good, they knew there was even better
food out there.
After talking with a consiege at the hotel, they were directed to a shop that sold the best
Italian beef sandwich in the city. They ordered at the counter and were handed two bags with
with their sandwich and told to pick sodas from the fridge.
With their sandwiches and a bottle of Green River each, they went to sit in the park. The city
was still bustling even as the sun started to set. The couple enjoyed the delicious meal and

They had fun going on the rides. There were family, thrill and kiddie rides. Food booths sold

The older kids went on thrill rides like Shock Wave, Batman, Gondor, and many more. The

Kyle ordered the Italian beef with house made fries while Becca had a chicken Caesar salad

Bucky and Steve had some alone time in their hotel room. The kids were with Kyle and
Becca for the night. The couple traded kisses while undressing each other. When they were
naked, Bucky picked Steve up and placed him on their bed. Then he joined his husband with
the lube. Bucky trailed kisses down Steve's body, making him moan. When Bucky deemed
Steve ready, he coated his fingers with the lube and prepped Steve carefully. Steve moaned as
he melted into pleasure.
When Steve was ready, Bucky slicked himself up and pushed inside. The pce was slow as
Bucky took his time. A long time later, Bucky took pity on hi husband and sped up the pace,
while wrapping his fingers around Steve and stroking. A few minutes later, Steve spilled his
seed across their chests. Bucky held out for a few minutes more before spilling his seed deep
inside his husband. As they came down from their highs, they shared a sweet kiss and smiled.

The next morning, the group said goodbyes to Rob and Jess. They would be returning
home. It was hard to leave the cities they worked in, but they also missed home.
"We are here whenever you want to visit," Rob invited. "It was great having you here outside
of work."
"Thanks for hosting us," Steve smiled. Jess hugged them all and gave them a bottle of Malort.
Kyle, a Chicago native, flinched at the mere sight. Rob laughed at him.
"Kyle, what is this?" Lance asked. The man tried to reply but the mere presence of the drink
made him nauseous.
"Please don't," Kyle begged as he got his breath back. The whole group laughed.
While Kyle was being horrified by the drink, Scott and Hope bonded with Kaina, Cassie,
Keigo, and Fumikage. The kids were ready to see their friends again, but Scott and Hope
planned a day. Today, they would go to the park and have a picnic. They prepared pasta salad,
turkey and cheese sandwiches, mixed fruit, and homemade lemonade.
The family had a wonderful time, enjoying the homemade meal. They also chased each other
around, getting all of their energy out. They would go see Hope's parents and maybe even
stay the night if they were tired enough.
local steakhouse, the Bronx;
Carol and Maria went on a group date with the other couples. Scott, Hope, Clint, and Laura
met them at a steakhouse. They all ordered a delicious cut of ribeye and a side of rich mac n
cheese or creamy potatoes. They enjoyed it all with wine and chatted away.
After returning from the airport, the Proctor and Roger-Barnes reunited with their families.
Sarah was there, waiting for her family. Steve gave her a kiss and hugged her. Bucky did the
same, holding her up and spinning her.
"James, I am an old lady! You can't do that!" she scolded. Bucky laughed and the kids
hugged their grandma.
"Did you all have fun?" she asked the kids, herding them to the car as she listened to all their
stories. Steve and Bucky were right behind her, saying goodbye to their teammates and
friends.
Bucky and Steve had some alone time. For the first time in a month, they slept in their own
beds. It was nice to get a moment to rest and break away from the constant rush of
investigations. They would have to soak this all in as they never knew when they would leave
next.
No one had expected a nerve wracking case. But Legacy had done it again, successfully
solved the case. George was finally home safe with his sisters and aunt. Katherine and
Arnold was in prison waiting trail. The victims' families would soon have their day in court
to confront the killers. They would get their answers then.
