MIT Office of Graduate Education OGE Fellowships (tuition awards or stipend + tuition awards that require students to be
nominated for consideration in most cases. Nomination deadline in mid-February)

Generous donors have provided MIT with permanent funds in support of fellowships, many of which have unique
restrictions.

The Office of Graduate Education administers a number of these endowed fellowships through an annual competition in
March. All nominations (both for new awards and renewal requests) must be submitted to the OGE by MIT Sloan Student
Funding on behalf of the students selected for nomination. Students who qualify for one of the awards should contact
[email protected] in order to be considered for nomination.

Awards will be decided by late April, with the exception of the Hugh Hampton Young Memorial Fund Fellowship. Finalists
for the Hugh Hampton Young will be chosen by mid-late April; those finalists will then be interviewed, with final awards to
be decided in early May. Students will receive confirmation of any award via letter by May 1.

The nomination packet will include:

• Current resume/CV;
• Transcript (for currently enrolled students, unofficial transcript or grade report is fine);
• A brief (1-2 pages) research summary written for a general audience, depicting your goals for your time at MIT or
post-graduation. For incoming students, this can be your “statement of objectives” from your Admissions
application;
• A brief (1-2 pages) summary of current or past community involvement. The OGE highly values positive impact on
the MIT community. Please explain past or current community involvement on MIT’s campus (or prior campuses if
you are an incoming student) and how you feel this involvement has benefited the community;
• Letters of Recommendation:
o Two are required. These can be sent directly to Joshua DeMaio (with no specific format);
o For incoming students, both can come from your admissions application if desired - please indicate as
much in your email. For returning students and application renewals, at least one must be from an MIT
faculty member.
