1. Assertion (A): Liquid Petroleum gas does not change its physical form when it goes through 1
combustion
Reason (R): LPG is in liquid form
2. Assertion (A): Calcium oxide reacts with water it produces calcium hydroxide and heat is also 1
released in the reaction.
Reason(R): It happens because of Endothermic reaction
3. Assertion (A): Foods containing fatty substances gets contaminated if not preserved properly 1
Reason (R): It happens due to oxidation

34. The surface of copper powder becomes coated with black copper (II) oxide. Why has this black 4
substance formed?
This is because oxygen is added to copper and copper oxide is formed.
Heat 2Cu + O₂ → 2CuO
If hydrogen gas is passed over this heated material (CuO), the black coating on the surface turns
brown as the reverse reaction takes place and copper is obtained.
(i) What is the ratio in which hydrogen and oxygen are present in water by volume.
