STAGE 1
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Climate change refers to long term shifts

in temperatures and weather. Human
activities are the main drivers of climate
change primarily due to the burning of
fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. Climate
change is primarily being caused by
Global warming. The impacts of climate
change vary depending on geographical
location with some regions experiencing
more severe effects. In Mutoko Climate
change is leading to droughts affecting
Agriculture and leading to low food
security.
STATEMENT OF INTENT
This project intends to raise awareness
about the causes and consequences of
climate change, supporting initiatives
that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
and promote renewable energy sources,
advocate for policies and practices that
prioritize environmentally sustainability
and social justice, making conscious
choices in our daily life to reduce our
carbon footprint and lastly but not least
collaborating with others to develop and
implement effective solutions to
address the climatic crisis.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A BETTER

ZIMBABWE.
STAGE 2
RELATED IDEAS ON EFFECTS OF CLIMATE
CHANGE
In Bulawayo severe droughts and water
scarcity are occurring annually due to
climate change. The schools of Bulawayo
struggled as their water sources had
dried up. Due to the problem students
are being forced and frustrated to walk
for long distances to fetch water. This
has affected the school’s sanitation and
hygiene leading to increase of diseases
caused by poor sanitation. The
communities of Bulawayo are
experiencing heat waves with
temperatures above 50 Degrees Celsius.
This is leading to economic decline in
Bulawayo. Animals and people are
struggling to survive and death of
aquatic and marine life has increased.
SOLUTIONS THE BULAWAYO
COMMUNITIES DID TO MITAIGATE THE
PROBLEM
In response to this problem to the
challenges, the schools and communities
came together to implement initiatives
aimed at mitigating the effects of
climate change. They did rain water
harvesting, conservation farming,
afforestation and reforestation and
advocate for global policies. The
community also established climate
change club which raised awareness and
promoted climate resilient practices
among students and members.
STAGE 3
GENERATION OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
THE PROBLEM IS HANDLED BY
SOLUTIONS PROVIDED BY THIS PROJECT

(a)Transition to use renewable energy

Shifting from fossil fuels like coal,
natural gas and oil to renewable sources
of energy like solar, wind and
hydroelectricity to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions.
(b)Energy efficiency
Improving energy efficiency in buildings,
transportation and industries to reduce
energy consumption.
(c)Electrification of transportation
Promoting the adoption of electric
vehicles to reduce dependence on fossil
fuels.
(d)Carbon capture and storage
Implementing technologies that capture
carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from
power plants and industrial processes
and storing them underground.
(e)Reforestation and Afforestation
Planting more trees to restore forests
which capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from
the atmosphere.
(f)Climate education and awareness
Educating people about climate change
its causes, effects and solutions to
mitigate the problem.
STAGE 4
SELECTING THE MOST POSSIBLE
SOLUTION
This project will provide the most
suitable solution to mitigate the effects
of climate change.
(a)TRANSITION FROM FOSSIL FUELS TO
RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY
Zimbabwe is a country which relies and
depends on use of fossil fuels. To the
increase of use of fossil fuels, global
warming is being promoted and now
affecting the climatic conditions leading
to altering weather patterns (Climate
Change).
Reducing the use of fossil fuel and
implementing the use of renewable
sources of energy like solar, wind and
hydro electricity. This will lead to less
impacts of Global warming leading to
reduced effects of climate change. The
implementation of electric generated
cars in Zimbabwe to reduce use of fossil
fuel powered cars.
STAGE 5
PRESENTATION OF RESULTS

This project will provide posters,

awareness campaigns, a model of an
electric powered car and questionnaires
as a way of reducing of finding how best
people know the effects of climate
change in our area of Mutoko. These
electric powered cars will reduce
emissions from exhausts of fossil fuel
powered cars. Campaigns will teach and
educate people about its effects
especially on the depletion of the ozone
layer.

STAGE 6
EVALUATION
This project will include an evaluation of
effectiveness to find out whether
teachers and other learners have
understood about this pervasive issue of
climate change. This will include
assessing how well the learners are
going to decrease this issue and that
they have understood that we are all in
Great danger as the ozone layer is being
depleted by global warming. This will
also assess learners whether they
articulate the importance of saving this
vital ozone layer.

STRENGTHS
The way of Questioning people is a good
way. It is a good way because this
project will ask those acing the problem,
those who faced the problem and those
with the knowledge of the problem or
ideas to the problem and ways to reduce
the problem.
WEAKNESSES
With this way of questioning people the
writer may fail to meet everyone with
the problem in their area because the
writer will choose only a few individuals
to ask. The writer as a learner will have
limited and little time to ask everyone or
many people.
