Worksheet – A Std 8th ( Maths ) Topic: Cube and Cube Roots

Q1. Which among is the smallest number by which we should multiply 6125 to get a perfect cube?
1. 3 1 Mark
2. 2
3. 7
4. 5
Ans: 3. 7
Solution:
The prime factorization of 6125 is: 5 × 5 × 5 × 7 × 7
Here the prime factor 7 does not appear in a group of three. To make it a perfect number, we
need one more 7 In that case 6125 × 7 = 5 × 5 × 5 × 7 × 7 = 42875 which is a perfect cube.

Q2. The one’s digit of the cube of the number 347 is: 1 Mark
1. 3
2. 4
3. 7
4. 1
Ans: 1. 3
Solution:
7 × 7 × 7 = 343.

Q3. Which among the following is a perfect cube? 1 Mark

1. 400
2. 15625
3. 243
4. 9000
Ans: 2. 15625
Solution:
400 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5; 2 × 5 × 5 remains after grouping into triplets. Therefore, it is
not a perfect square.
15625 = 5 × 5 × 5 × 5 × 5 × 5 In this factorization, nothing remains after grouping S's in
triplets. Therefore, it is a perfect square. 243 = 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 In this factorization 3 × 3
remains after grouping 3' in triplets. Hence, it is not a perfect square.
9000 = 3 × 3 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5 In this factorization 3 × 3 remains after groping 5's
and 2's in triplets. Hence, it is not a perfect. Square.
