IV. PROCEDURE

Pre – Assessment
The teacher will check the student’s prior knowledge about
A. Pre - Assessment
determining the basic concepts of probability through the quizizz. They
will be group automatically within 8 groups.

B. Let Us Discover
Below are important terminologies that you must learn and remember
for you to understand more about probability. Your goal this week is to
learn and understand the key concepts of probability.

Probability measures the likelihood or chance that an event will

occur. Events cannot be predicted with total certainty. We can say,
“How likely they are to happen.”

Experiment is a procedure (or process) from which results are

observed or recorded.

Trial is an instance of an experiment (the number of times an

experiment is repeated).

/jt.04062018
Outcome is the result of a single trial of an experiment.

Sample Space is the set of all possible outcomes of an experiment. It

is usually denoted by the letter S. Sample space can be written using
the set notation, { }.

Event is the set whose elements are some outcomes of an experiment

(a subset of the sample space).

Examples:

By this time, the students already know the basic concept of the
simple probability.

C. Let Us Try

Each student will be group accordingly as the quizziz programmed. For

this part the students will be earning points for their group if they were
the first person to give the correct answer in the google meet chat
room. Only those who contributed for their group have the right to
claim the points.

D. Let Us Do

/jt.04062018
The students will be working with the same group for this part still.

The submission for their answers will be through the messenger for
other to have an equal chance to earn points depending on the
difficulty of the problem.

The time allotted for each item is also based on the difficulty of the
problem.j

Ask the students if they have questions.

E. Generalization If the students don’y have any questions, they will be given questions
meant to generalize the lesson for today.
F. Let Us Apply Performance Task #5

Activity 4: Make It Real!

Direction: Join Andi and his friends perform the same experiment.
Record each outcome of your experiment. Then fill in the blanks using
the basic concepts of probability to complete the paragraph.
Problem:
Andi and his friends decided to find the number of times three heads
“HHH” would come up when flipping three five-peso coins
simultaneously.
Complete the table and fill in the blanks to complete the following
paragraph.

/jt.04062018
Every time Andi and his friends flip the fair coins is an ____________. The
____________ that they are looking for is to come up with three heads:
{HHH}. The ____________ is the set of all possible outcomes: {HHT,
HTT, THT, and so on}. In order to find all the ____________, they have to
continue flipping the coins for at least 30 times.

B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
