I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to
accomplish the following:
a. enumerate the steps on how to develop a good speech;
A. Objectives b. express ones thoughts/ ideas to solve social issues
through writing; and
c. write a campaign ad using the steps on how to develop a
good speech.
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world

II. CONTENT

In your previous lesson, you learned how to evaluate a
persuasive speech which is one of the examples of spoken
Introduction text using a set of criteria. To further enhance your skill as
students, you will now learn the steps in writing a
persuasive text.

IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIATION Raise Me Up!
(5 mins) Instructions: Each group will be given 2 flag lets (YELLOW,
for the group who will answer TRUE, and BLUE for the
group who will answer FALSE)
1. Persuasive speech is written to convince the listeners of
the validity of the speaker’s argument about. (YELLOW)
2. There are four paragraphs you need in a persuasive
writing. (BLUE)
3. The purpose of persuasive writing is to persuade.

4. We can find the evidence in the body part. (YELLOW)
5. The conclusion part establishes significance of the topic.

Steps on how to develop a good speech:
1. Think of a problem you have to consider in turning the
challenge to opportunity.
2. Use it as your argument.
3. State your opinion clearly.
4. Talk about the reasons why it is important to consider the
problem as an opportunity.
5. Give examples to support your argument.
6. Use logical or emotional appeal for your audience to
believe you.
7. End up your speech by a strong position, a statement
that relates your stand and calls your audience to action.
Directions: Read and examine the speech of the late
Nelson Mandela.
Discussion Questions:
1. What are the three major problems identified by Mandela
that turns challenge to opportunity?
2. Did the writer use it as his argument? Why?
3. Were opinions clearly expressed?
4. Were the reasons substantial to support its claim?
5. In the 5th paragraph of his speech, are the reasons
logically or emotionally appealing to the audience? Support
your answer.
6. Does the conclusion state a strong position that relates
stand and calls audience to action?
ELABORATION (The teacher will allow the students to apply what they
(5 mins) have learned in this part of the lesson while achieving the
learning objectives in a group activity.)

among Grade 10 students.
Group 4- Write a campaign ad to prevent depression.
